is a big day of sport with 3/4 major events taking place. If you had to pick one which would you watch?
If England reach the cricket final C4 will have a big decision to make it seems. Their only live F1 race of the season, and potentially showing England live in a world cup final. One looks like it will be on C4 and the other More 4, if England make the final, I'd say that would be on C4, with the F1 moving aside. Of course England need to beat Australia first...
Classic forum response. Mods, could you add a list of operas which we would listen to during a rain break?
The cricket followed by tennis. Have no interest in other two and in fairness would not not be that bothered by watching the tennis and it wouldn't stop me from going out somewhere
As a channel hopper (I go to France regularly) I will watch a bit of the cricket if England are in it and all of last 2 hours of it. The F1 I can click over occasionally to see if anyone has overtaken anyone else. The Tennis? if Murray gets to the mixed final (Konta may play on the Saturday in which case I will watch that)I will watch, otherwise won't bother. The cycling, I like to watch the attacking mountain stages and we have 2 possible UK winners this year.
F1 Despite the fact I used to play Tennis, I find it difficult to get engaged unless there's a massive underdog story or a UK interest in it. Cricket seems to be an excuse to drink in the sun, rather than an actual spectator sport. Never really lit my fire. the sport, not the drinking bit. Cycling is like distance running to me. Just hours of endless repetitive nothingness. The Tour de France also gives fat middle aged men the idea that they can sensibly wear lycra and get in my way on the roads around meister manor, so can't wait for a week or two later when they've either given up or been knocked off their bikes and the roads are clear again.
“Just hours of endless repetitive nothingness” sounds like a perfect description of F1 to me. At least the cyclists go through some nice scenery and varied terrain.
Fair comment. Street circuit GP's like Monaco do add some visual interest but you can get some boring races. It helps if you have an interest in the cars, strategy and technology I suppose. Can always watch the start, have a sunday lunch induced nap and wake up for the last 10 laps.
I guess the interest in cars/technology is the key. I have literally zero and F1 bores me to tears. My father, however - who was an engineer and often tinkering with cars or bikes in his spare time - loved it.
I blame Murray Walker. His enthusiasm rubbed off on generations of fans and the more recent commentators whilst probably more able just don't have the same spark.
One of them is David Croft was who on 3CR doing our games for a whille (West Ham fan really ) I guess the race does depend on if Hamilton gets Pole or not - last race he was 5th which meant there was some entertainment at the front . Same with the tennis - anyone but Djokovic v Federer or Nadal and it will be one sided !
Absolute no brainer for me. F1 will be interesting for approximately 1 minute and 27 seconds (the opening lap) and then a dull fest for the remaining 90 minutes. Tennis final isn't that interesting to me unless there is an Englishman in it so not for a long time. Tour de France is just people riding bikes. Cricket is about 8 hours of tactics and skill and is pretty exciting to watch in this format.
