Hornets to me are a bit longer and more aggressive less cuddly Perhaps a softened version of our 5 sided shape that’s a bit more rounded? You know like Arsenal did when they simplified their design I like the less red
Does it have to be a weekend ? Would rather they got this irritating habit out of the way during the working week.
The hornet design is dreadful. Did you really expect to get positive feedback or is this a wind up? If you spent any money on your design training then I feel really sorry for you. What a waste. Just completely awful stuff.
Your image may be misconstrued as a hornet with red on their shorts. Controversial in these parts, to say the least.
I suppose people might look at other applications of a Hornet. Like those used by the Wosley Hornet club or USS Hornet Athletic Club
Every single representation of a hornet I've seen has either been some childish anthropomorphic angry wasp with 'arm' muscles or a feeble line image of what could be any flying insect. The only one that would be remotely acceptable is the abstract image at the top of this page.
IIRC Admin v2.0 replaced the original that I'd drawn up. Not sure if it's bespoke or purloined I'm afraid. Admin v3.0 may well have the original files.
No I agree the Hornet is a difficult image to use. I quite like the USS Hornet sports club effort. Put 1881 where it says Sports Club, replace the word Hornet with Watford and use black and yellow and a dash of red, and you might get near a winning effort.
Or a new branch of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fan club. And the 'hornet' looks like the stupid robot from Buck Rogers.
Quite like the 1st one. Take off the 1881 and ad an FC to the Watford bit and it would get my vote. I like the shape of our current badge. It's different.
Funnily enough, that is exactly right, the current badge IS different, it stands out from the rest, surely that's what marketing people want, what's different sells!
Between here, twitter and facebook I've not seen one design that gets anywhere near the current badge. They've all been awful! With regards to the "hornet" designs, no-one seems to have tried using the little hornet icon that appears on the back of last season's home shirt... Seeing as that is a club approved hornet design I'm surprised.
Can someone more creative than me give me a hornet with antlers on the backdrop of an ocean meadow surrounded by hummingbirds and unicorns, with Watford FC across the top and "we go again" in Latin on a banner across the bottom? Or is that too much to bloody ask?!
Because it confuses johnnie foreigner to see a picture of a moose when we're called the hornets and play in yellow and black. Heck I'm confused how we ended up with a picture of a moose when it was supposed to be a bloke deer.
It gives the Mktg Dept something to do. This really is a key consideration. If it works, ie if you can persuade senior mgmt, who don't really know about these things, which is why they've hired you, that it has worked, then trebles all round & take a promotion. But it's like Brexit. If the new initiative (surprisingly) doesn't work, then the perpetrators are hounded out of town leaving the poor saps who live stuck with the mess for years to come.
The biggest selling liquor brand of the last 50 years? Bacardi, on the label of which is which creature? Correct. A bat. Second best selling brand? Smirnoff, which until recently had which household item prominent on its label. Correct again! A pair of curtains. Good design can't reduced to logical bromides. The best thing about Liverpool is their badge. It looks real. The thing about @rsenal (by a whisker)? Their badge. Looks like what a Lego football team would wear.
Thanks for the feedback on the design. I've decided to re-try based on what's been said. This time I've based the hornet off the old design from the 60/70's with the shape of the current crest. Here are some example of how the design could fit in. Anymore ideas, let me know.
OW, you’re making decent responses to a poor brief. Your good work highlights that a hornet, & probably any insect, makes a weedy emblem. Thin, wingy, feeble. Possibly not the correct answer for the Commercial Dept heroes who brought us the Ticketmaster Experience.
Agreed. Basically the poor bloke is trying to polish a turd. Anything you want to swat isn't going to inspire much. Have another go with the moose / Hart / heart / hert / stag m8.
Powers that be Say No. Would our newly won million Chinese fanboys still be cheering the London Hornets in Div 3?
I'm not a massive fan of any hornet artwork I've seen so far - I'd much prefer a design built around the club's initials, similar to the Inter Milan and Basel badges.
