I'm planning on dusting off my prawn sandwiches & treating my dad to a hospitality package at one of the home games in November for his 70th birthday. We usually park in the Church car park but, as my dad has recently moved to Bournemouth & now has a much longer journey home, I'm looking for an option that doesn't take quite as long to get away from. I was wondering what the deal is with the car park at the girls' school in Vicarage Rd - ie how much does it cost, do you need to book a space & is it quicker to get out of? The package includes staying for the Man of the Match presentation so I imagine we wouldn't be leaving until around 6-6.30. Can anyone help? Ta

If you're leaving that late then Church would be fine by that time. I'm not entirely sure but I would assume that other "matchday car parks" would be closed at that time.

Thanks - I did wonder if it would be too late for match specific car parks. The only thing with Church is whether we'd still get caught up with Xmas shoppers leaving at that time. Anyone know what time the vicarage rd car park closes?

How much are these hospitality packages?

Most Saturday matches we'll stay behind for a pint and see the results come in on the screens in the VBar. Even staying behind 15 minutes means most of the traffic is gone by the time we get to the car. Christmas shopping traffic starts to get silly in December, so don't worry about that. Church Car park will be fine for you.

The ones I've been told about range from £99+vat pp to £150 +vat pp but some need a minimum of 4 people. There are discounts for season ticket holders.

Ok, we'll probably stick to that then. Thanks a lot.

The girls school charge £7 btw. I'd park in the Church too.

I haven't been in the hospitality areas at Watford for a few years now but they always used to include a car parking space, which was behind the Rous. Have you checked with the club, might be a straightforward solution?!

Just to throw it out there, I'd sack the Church Car Park off and park in the Gade. It's cheaper and you'll be out in moments. I stopped using the Church years ago.

Although, this season I've been a very clever boy..... got a membership at the clubhouse nextdoor to the Gade. £90 for the year.... works out cheaper than parking in the Gade every match throughout a calendar year and I'm out with no hassle. Has anyone else tried to tactic?

What is the Gade and where is it?

Situated behind Nandos, but there's a more direct walk to the ground than going through town.

Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone on here for their help with this. Turns out that car park spaces are not included in hospitality packages anymore so I'll probably stick to Church for this match as my dad knows it & think about using the Gade for other matches when it's just me. Cheers again

    bump...
i normally park in shepherds road or around cassio park, but its getting busier and busier... can you park in the boys grammar school legit, or is it a sneak-in jobby?
got a 2hr trip back to the south coast after the game so its a great location to get away from without sat in traffic.

Unless they've changed the rules in the last 3 years I've not been there, you're not allowed to. What about Cassiobury Drive/Cassiobury Park Drive? Both roads see a bit of match-day parking but they're not that far away (though CD is about 10 mins further away by foot)

Similar frustrations on the Holywell now they've closed the cut through at the very end of Cardiff Rd. Scrambling up the muddy hill to connect to Willow Lane requires a GCSE in orienteering!

It was bonkers last night with traffic and parking. Don't know why??

I've waited on the off ramp of church car park for over an hour after a match before. If there is one tiny issue on the ring road you're screwed. Need to really be on the other side. After that whenever I went to matches I parked outside of Watford about a 15-20 min walk away or planned to stay about in a pub / restaurant for a bit.

For evening games if I can't get a single yellow line somewhere then I usually opt for Charter Place carpark, but last night I didn't get to the ring road until 7:30 so I when in to Church carpark. Never again.

Some idiot decided it would be a good idea to close two out of the three lanes on the ring road just off Vicarage Road (For road works)

Parked on Rickmansworth road last night near the Grammar school. 10 minute walk tops.

I parked on level 3 in Church Car Park last night. Stayed to applaud them off at the end, queued 10 mins to pay my £4 fee then waited another 50 mins to get out onto the
ring road. When I managed to get to the A12 at Brentwood it was closed (the sign said A12 CLOSED just BEFORE the exit on the M25 grrrr) so had a painfully slow detour up to Colchester. To cap it all on the way to Watford
I stopped to let two police cars pass at a roundabout with their light flashing and the car behind didn't, she rammed me up the backside. It wouldn't bother me normally but I'd just got the car back after three weeks being repaired from the last crash. The police stopped their chase and thought they would take details and a breath test further delays...anyway we finally got home to Woodbridge at 12.45 and we'd been locked out. O Joy. Least we won!

Every cloud has a silver lining.....just an update.
We've only got the one car (its still drivable) so as my wife needed it this saturday I looked up how to get from darkest Suffolk to Wolverhampton by train. Basically forget it. It's really expensive and painfully slow.
The only good thing about the train is that you can have a drink if you've got any money left over from the rail fare which is unlikely. So Wolves is out the window and we really want to go.
Anyway, after the accident on Tuesday I spoke to the insurance company
and they arranged for my car to be repaired and a replacement delivered to me. So a loan car has just arrived today however the garage can't repair mine until Monday.
Great stuff, I can now go to Wolves in the loan car and the misses can still use mine,
Some things are just meant to be!
Wolves here we come. C'mon you Orns.

I used to have a very decent place to park, but the locals have now pooled together in protest.

They now deliberately park with about three quarters of a car length in between each car, before every game. Not sure how they do it, and if there was a little meeting to set it up, but the whole road has stood up in defiance.

I imagine a scene akin to South Park, with each of them shouting 'dey took are parkin spaces!!!!'

On Tuesday night I got a lift and we parked nearer to the ground than I have ever parked in my entire time following Watford. I'd say we were closer than the players car park, and we didn't get a ticket :drinking:

Usually park now at Chater School on Addiscombe Road but it's not usually open until around 1pm on match days. Does anyone on here know if it's likely to be open for the match on Monday? Ta.

Parking: What's the best place you've ever parked? The worst? Any parking-related road rage stories?

  35. Tip - get a motorbike or scooter. Park in hospital opposite WFC directors car park.
