Can’t share the link as I’m a computer **** plus it’s probably garbage as it’s from the sun. But read a report unwanted at Real Madrid by ZZ even after playing 31 games last season. Linked with a loan move to a host of la Liga clubs and our sister club Udinese could try and get involved. Could be the reason Gomes stayed

The Daily Mail appear to have run an article in line with what you described four days ago.

However, since when did Gomes play for Udinese?!?!?!?!?!

I signed him for Rangers in FM19 and he became a world beater taking us to two Champions League finals (losing both). So it’s a definite yes from me.

Seems like an incredibly unnecessary smokescreen. If Vinicius were to end up on loan at Watford, then what conceivable benefit to us would there have actually been in it being first rumoured that he was going on loan to Udinese instead?!

Maybe the Pozzo's don't want other prem teams coming in and scuppering the deal. Use Udinese as a decoy or an option if Junior fancies seria a over premier league.

This kid is rated as one of the best young players in the world right now, I would be very surprised if Real Madrid let him go, even on loan. If they were to let him go there will be a queue of suitors in the champions league, Madrid would have also see us playing hoof ball up to Deeney, imagine that would be a big factor in the case of his development... in other words we have no chance.

If we want him, Gino will get him. If we don't sign him, it's because Gino has a better option lined up.

It wouldn't be hugely surprising if he went on loan given that he's still only 18, rarely featured for them last season, and they've just signed Hazard in the same position.

As for where he'd go on loan, the priority for Madrid would likely be a club in a top league where they'd expect he'll start every match and can progress. That might not necessarily be a Champion's League club, as there wouldn't be too many willing to loan a raw 18 year-old who'd be expected to play every game ahead of one of their own players and where there'd be absolutely zero chance of a permanent deal off the back of it.

Considering we now have players like Pereyra and Deulofeu I don't think the hoofball thing really applies to us too much now. However, the main reason why he won't be coming here on loan is because we've not even been linked to him.

Interesting, did you watch many games of ours last season?

We are still one of the most direct teams in the league, I put this down to the fact none of our defenders like having the ball and look to go long to be safe. Hopefully if we sign a couple of decent centre halves this summer we may see our passing play improve.

We may be "one of the most direct" but we really aren't a hoofball side anymore and haven't been for ages. The sight of our back 4 holding onto the ball, spraying passes around and into the feet of midfielders in a cup final at Wemberley in front of the Citeh forwards scared the **** out of me. Less so after the 4th went in.

    I watched every one.

We were 12th for overall possession percentage in the league last season, and 12th for fewest number of long balls per game (or 8th for most long balls per game) - i.e. pretty much on a par with our league position. That doesn't really count as "one of the most direct teams in the league".

I don't think that Cathcart or Mariappa are actually too bad at passing out from the back. They have pass completion percentages of 82% each, which is perfectly respectable for a CB. They're certainly both an improvement from the QSF days of Britos and Prodl.

Also, when we do hit long balls, they tend to be straight to Deeney, for our other attacking players to play off of. We don't do much punting the ball at Deulofeu's head. Our other attacking players still receive the ball plenty often enough to their feet in dangerous areas (the issue then more is that they are often too wasteful with their opportunities, Pereyra especially).

I also suspect that getting rid of Deeney would make more of a difference to our passing than changing the CBs, by further discouraging long balls in the first place.
