Gaich is a clumsy so and so. His finishing skills and technique are pretty poor among recent Argentine u20 strikers. Colidio was left out for him which beggars belief. Missed a sitter against Korea as well. Roffo is third choice at Boca.Good shot stopper, very decent on the ball but his decision making is all over the place. Alvarez is pretty average too. Barco needs to develop a brain but has great technical ability. Most of Argentina's best players were not picked by Batista. That includes Garay and Balerdi at the back, Garre in midfield and Almada while he does not trust de la Vega. Perez is the pick of this team. Exudes class and leadership at centre back.

Klopp just embraced him and whispered in his ear. I expect he was saying cheeky bid from Watford, chairman’s just sold you, good luck for next season.

I believe he was technically our player on loan to Liverpool at the tine he scored that goal.

    Thanks for the insights.
Tbh I thought Perez looked quite error prone from what I've seen of him so far, though he must have shown something before to have earned a move to Atletico.

Do you not have an opinion on Anibal Moreno?

Perez and Balerdi have a calmness beyond their years and an ability to read danger, when to drop off and when to press and both especially Balerdi are great taking the ball out of defence. Perez is hampered by having to cover Medina who should be nowhere near the squad.

As for Moreno. Stocky tigrish central midfielder who can play anywhere in it. Does all the basics right and reads the game fairly well and is a good passer and has a fierce right foot shot. Lacks the flair of a Nicolas Dominguez but is very decent. He and Sosa have impressed in the defensive roles. Plenty of transfer interest in him at present. He should stay at Newell's though to develop further.

Koscielny has been offered to Inter by Arsenal but they are not interested. He is 33 years of age and coming back from injury, but do you think it's worth his while hoping over the hedge for a couple of years?

No. His legs are totally gone. I think we need to be in the market for young, athletic CB’s - no more bargain basement stuff. If that’s the road we look to go down, Cahill is a far better option.

Can't believe we aren't looking at Milot Rashica from Werder Bremen. Young, good goal scoring record coming off the wing last season and most importantly, nicknamed 'The Rocketman' so we can reuse that atrocious flag they used to advertise the film last season. Exactly the kind of synergies a progressive forward looking enterprise like Watford F.C. should be concentrating on.

Would imagine he will go back to Spain - but Alberto Moreno has been released by Liverpool. Would be a good signing for us, in a position we could do with strengthening and is a good age.

Sturridge would also be an upgrade but I feel I’d be up opening up the yearly can of worms on that one. But he’s going free too....

He seem to prefer the left flank, and in general his playing style/positional play appears similar to Pereyra, and to a lesser extent Deulofeu. Surely we'd only consider him were Pereyra to be sold; and even then we also still have Lukebakio to come in, who also has a similar playing style and is likely at least equally as good.

Also expect him to go back to Spain but would be a great addition at left.

The defensive lapses that caught him out at Liverpool wouldn’t be as obvious at a club like yours, attack’s really well and has the ability to score an absolute worldie.

Reckon he’s looking at 75k+ a week though.

Hell no on Sturridge, he actually can’t even run anymore. Loved him in his prime but his mind is elsewhere now. Could’ve been an absolute legend for club and country though, best technical striker England have had since Rooney.

If I was fan of any other EPL club I'd be horrified if we tried to get Moreno. However, we like an attacking LB who leaves gaps in behind. Sturridge...no way. Tehnically brilliant on his day but made of glass. Lasted 6 minutes at West Brom on loan and hardly played since. Can score a worldy as we saw last season but can't be relied on and his salary demands would be excessive.

He has the potential to do an even worse Success impression, where the hookers dont get off as lightly and its chianti, not baileys.

Just seen that a mid-table Premier League club have just released an experienced, 25 year-old CB who is pretty decent in the air! English as well, so would count towards our homegrown quota. Supposedly he's meant to be a bit injury prone, but given our dire centre back situation at the moment and desperate need for more options he could be worth a punt? Maybe we could offer him a pay as you play deal.

He's called Hobangs, or something like that.

Moreno would be decent but honestly don't expect a left to come in this summer. Who on earth will sign Sturridge with his injury issues and fairly large wage requirements? Steady now West Ham, let Bournemouth try first

New manager in at Roma so no doubt a lot of movement there. Patrick Schick could possibly be on the move. He's had a nightmare since being bought into replace Salah, even though being totally different types of players. Play him in his correct CF position and you will have some player. I believe they will even offer a loan to perm to get him off their books. We were mentioned when he was at Sampdoria but was out of our range then. He was pure class at a very young age for them.

Watching Brazil vs Ireland semi-final of the Toulon tournament, and one of the best players on the pitch is Lyanco - a 22 year-old CB at Mazzarri's Torino. He was signed by them 2 summers ago for €7mil, was injured for a lot of his first season there, then spent the second half of this season on loan at Bologna, and supposedly did very well indeed.

Supposedly he's partly of Serbian heritage, and he indeed plays with a mix of Serbian defensive aggression with Brazilian composure on the ball.

A swap deal for Pereyra could make sense all round.

While the club seems to be keen on CB prospects from Ligue 1 at the moment, one that cropped up while I was perusing whoscored stats that should be attainable is 22 year-old Felix Eboa Eboa from just relegated Guingamp. It appears he's been their best player since December, scoring 3 goals and gaining 3 MotM awards.

In general, his stats compare very favourably to other CBs in the league, and compare pretty well to Todibo's when he was playing there.
3.8 aerials won per match, which is top 5 for CBs in the league.
0.9 blocks per match, which is top 10.
    4.8 clearances, which is 13th.
More average is his pass completion at 77%, which is worse than Cathcart, but better than Kabs; but Guingamp had low pass completion stats anyway so could partly be a consequence of them overall being a bad side (they were certainly very inexperienced).

He could well still not have what it takes (he was part of a team that managed to lose 9-0 to PSG), I've never seen him play, but on paper there's something to him. Got a great leap at the very least:
