So very pleased for Barty.A tremendous talent and plays the game in an almost 'old school' way, similar to Tsitsi.
I'm going to Huddesfield tomorrow for a county match.
On my return I expect Nadal and Thiem to have possibly completed a set in the 'Babolat Battle'!

Any chance for Thiem tomorrow? Seems Nadal has it all in his favour including more rest.

As you say it's all in Rafa's favour. He's only played twice this week.
Can't see it myself unless Nadal's knees are worse than it appears.
    Rafa in three,max four.

Is it right to be suspicious about Nadal ? Unlike several other top players who have had injuries and still suffer from their effects he seems to bounce back relatively unscathed. And has it been a dreary tournament ? Very few competitive matches even at the top end of the bracket ?

Nadal's dominance on clay is the single most boring thing in sporting history at this point. Hurry up and retire.

To be fair Thiem has take a set off him although seems to be going bad now

  8. Jumbolina

Incredibly poor. Thiem makes a game of it by winning 2nd set and now can hardly win a game. A fitting end to a dreadful men’s tournament.

The "new generation" are just a bit of a joke really.

None of them look even remotely like breaking the Federer, Nadal and Djokovic dominance, despite one being nearly 40 and the other two being in their mid 30's.

Makes it all the more remarkable how Murray pulled off 3 slam wins during their epoch of supremacy.

There have been whispers and innuendos about Nadal for many years.
    Nothing has ever been proved.
Thiem is a little too prescriptive to win multiple majors.
Zverev has not improved, despite winning at the O2.
Tsitsi,FAA and de Minaur are likely to take over but need a couple more years I believe.
Remember how long it took Murray,Lendl to win their first major.
    Gradual gains.

Bet we see Nadal not really bother at Wimbledon now.

Possibly but it's very difficult to recharge the batteries after a major tournament, especially as the French and The Championships are so close together.

Great last set in Nottingham between Garcia and Vekic.
Poor Vekic was in floods of tears and Annabel Croft was playing the Duchess of Kent role to Donna's Yana.
Queens and Birmingham start today with Murray partnering Lopez in the doubles.
A great field at the club of Old Etonian twits and Vekic will no doubt be slightly peeved at her draw at EP,where she plays Barty.
It's unlikely Barty had much practice last week due to the weather so Donna may be smiling after all.

No play at Queen's for the Old Etonians to watch whilst they count their money.

    It's becoming a common theme !

Murray won in the doubles with Lopez (handy he had a walkover in the singles !) - straight sets

Could Murray play doubles at Wimbledon to ease him back into action ..

Less stress and strain if playing with someone but can build up fitness ?

Fergus Murphy is the most disliked umpire on tour.
He has a habit of over ruling his line judges, despite them not making obvious errors.
I would say it was a close run thing between NK and FM as to who was the bigger dolt.
The answer to your question is 'yes' and he should stick to it for many reasons. He doesn't have to use lateral movement which has caused his problem,he can serve and volley as he is a very fine volleyer,he can maintain a very good level in doubles and prolong his career.
Sad to see JMDP need a yet more surgery. His career has been beset by injuries.
Freudian slip by Sue Barker, calling Tsitsipas 'Tipsy',given her liking for white wine!
'Tipsy' plays the talented teen Felix Auger Aliassime tomorrow,
Barty going well at EP but Osaka out to the rather odd Putintseva.

PHH is a fine player and an excellent doubles player.
They will be the best pair, whether they will win is another matter.
If he plays the mixed then look out for Watson stropping, like she did when Murray played with Robson in London 2012.

I quite like tennis and do watch a little bit of it but not as much football, cricket and golf so I enjoy this thread but could you not shorten names to initials only as I have no idea who PHH or JMDP are
    Many thanks

Tsitsipas beaten by Auger Aliassime - along with Medvedev the ones to look out for in the future|?

    Apologies KGT,I was in a hurry as I had a 9am lesson!
PHH is Piere Hughes Herbert, who Murray will play with at Wimbledon. Juan Martin Del Potro is the other.
Aliassime has the hex on Tsitsi. He beat him in Miami too and in juniors.
Aliassime could well win the tournament, when he's on he's really good and is certainly a top 5 player. Tsitsipas was let down yet again by his failure to convert numerous break points,as happened at Roland Garros. Having said that it didn't look a great match, the rain has not helped and all the players have looked wary as the courts are very slippery behind the baseline. Hasn't been a vintage Queen's so far.
He plays at Stoke Park next week and I see there is a invitational at Hurlingham, nice work if you can get it!
Medvedev is not my kind of player,a bit clunky but very effective.
Di Minaur is very very talented and Shapovalov will hit form again.
Barty going strong in Birmingham and good to see 'Nutty' Barbara Strycova in the semis.

Mainly a doubles player - winner of many GS titles .

Murray and Lopez through to the doubles final .

Busy day for the Spaniard then as he is in the final of the singles too against Simon .

    French.
Played a lot with Nicholas Mahut,he of Isner v Mahut epic.
Herbert started as a singles player, had trouble with his rather over complicated serve and then concentrated on doubles for a few years.Has won all four majors with Mahut.
He ended their partnership this year* to concentrate on his singles and has now jumped into partnership with Murray. A euro for Mahut's thoughts?!
Simon v Lopez at Queen's and Barty v Goerges in Birmingham.
Herts 50s beat Bucks 50s,5-0 at the Marie Celeste Tennis Centre,High Wycombe!
    * Not unusual, doubles pairings swap every year or two.

Will deserve a good rest next week .

He has to play Murray's Wimbledon partner Herbert at Eastbourne, today I'd expect.
Al Brits lost in first round of qualies at Roehampton, women today.

Back down to earth for Murray (and partner ) - beaten in the first round at Eastbourne by the top seeds .

Yes the Colombians were a little off the pace at Queen's but will have had a week's practice on grass and doubtless Murray was a little stiff.

Melo is not as good as Lopez either!

Konta out to Jabeur, who looks a lot like Conchita Martinez.
    Edmund beats Norrie comfortably.
I played a Middlesex League match for Hazelwood last night v Chandos, who in the thirty years since I last played them have moved from Hampstead to Finchley.
I have no problem playing girls and young ladies thirty five years younger,in the fact that there's a possibility they will drill holes through you, especially if they have just come off the tour!
What I do find unpalatable is the nauseatingly transparent cheating of one very young girl in their third pair.
I thought the girl to be no more than 11,given her lack of physical development. Her partner looked 13.Apparwently they were both 14.
What was so repulsive was the coached 'cheating' that the smaller girl tried to employ.
We were playing on clay, which as you know leaves a mark and players 'ring' the mark with their racket. You are not supposed to inspect the mark unless invited to the opponent's side of the court. This toe rag not only charged round on an early point on her serve, which Yanna* and myself had called 'out' simultaneously, but then told us this was not the mark anyway. We did not give way and then this little monster produced all of the horrors of the 'Academy' behaviour book. Taking ages between points, shouting, hitting balls way passed us when supposedly giving them to us to serve with, loud grunting, calling balls out before they bounced. The Kournikova song sheet to the letter.**
I have written before that this behaviour is taught at certain centres and clubs and it has to stop.It is the single most common reason why we lose players from the sport.Decent girls, like Yanna simply get peed off with brats and find something better to do with their time. Not for the first time I was ashamed of my so called profession for polluting players into such obnoxious behaviour.
In the Herts 'Hot Rackets' league,a two pair competition, two players aged 14 and under are not allowed to partner each other,to prevent such habits escalating. It is a good policy.
At 14 I would never have caused such a show against an adult and I would never do so now. Hideous.
    * Yanna is 16 but showed admirable maturity in dealing with this girl.
** I saw Anna play at Surbiton when she was 14. She did all of this and called EVERY ball remotely close to a line out.

WillisWasTheWorst Its making less grammar mistake's thats important

That all sounds quite upsetting. I suppose some would claim it to be the required 'winning mentality' - 'nice girls can't be winners' etc. Utter piffle, but what a shame.

Venus v Gauff is also a good one.
Mr IBB has been on about Gauff for a year or so.
Nadal v Kyrgios is R2 could be fun!
