Well, there's still the play-off and Champions League finals, but yeah, it does sort of feel like the close season with very little meaningful football played this week. Something needs to happen to restore the goodwill round the team that seems to have been largely eradicated in recent weeks, I'm not sure what though.
Unfortunately, we didn’t qualify for the first Europa League pre play off round starting yesterday. Watch cricket!
They did spoil us by ramping it up to pretty much a game a week at the end before cutting off the supply. Maybe it's a marketing ploy to leave you wanting it back so badly you subscribe to the sports Chanel for next year. There are the play offs, nations cups, European cup finals ashes, women's world cup and Wimbledon in the meantime. It'll be back before we know it!
The seasons's over? Thought we'd gone a good stretch without defeat, that explains our upturn in form.
Youth football helps bridge the gap for me, U20 WC is in full swing and Toulon is in a few days. Both prestigious tournaments, Toulon especially is a favourite of mine and is generally a glimpse of who's gonna be the next big thing (and England usually do pretty well!)
Close season. Time to spruce up the garden, have a nice holiday, all the time looking forward to the start of next season. It will come round soon enough.
England's squad is pretty uninspiring for Toulon though. Brazil's squad is also missing lots of their biggest prospects. While France have sent their U18s due to them also being in the U20 World Cup.
Yeah, annoyingly there's always an U21 Euros or U20 WC on at the same time which ruins the squads, but the quality is still normally great and the games entertaining.
