https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/afflecks-angle-well-be-back Recognises the embarrassment the 6-0 has caused us all, accepts that City were just too good for us and asserts that we didn't throw in the towel - that bit included no doubt to rightly counter the accusations that the team bottled it.
Politburo stuff. And a bit grating, yeah? I get the impression the club are trying really a bit too hard with all this Comms Strat. It’s forced. It’s not natural. It’s unappealing & rather boring. The poor herberts have been told to quadruple sales & they’re gently bricking it. Their objective is based on fantasy. To go beyond the current fanbase & engage the global masses with WFC. And in the process kinda ignore the daft ****ers who pay for 70% of the tickets. The mktg bod, appointed a year ago, is from the NBA set up, uncannily like his boss. He proudly sports a rack of shirts on his Linked In page. Of basketball shirts. I imagine his lifespan is even shorter than that of a WFC manager.
He’s hardly going to say they did throw in the towel though is he on the official website? A decent piece about the day as a whole and the strength of the opposition - but when it comes to analysis of our players effort at times, I’ll happily rely on what I saw with my own eyes.
Very true - he will have his own views which might be vetted by the club but naturally the guy won't go over the top in criticism on an official media platform.
Not sure what point he is making with his million verses billion seconds analysis? It’s not as if Watford have only spent 1 million on the squad. A more meaningful comparison is 1300 million v 150 million or whatever the numbers are.
This is quite worrying - "captain marvel" Troy can easily point the finger around at others who desperately need being upgraded, but can he point it at himself?!
I would also ask why its any of Deeney's business to have that conversation. If that statement has any semblance of truth to it, its further indication that Deeney has manoeuvred his way to wielding far more power at the club than should be allowed.
I and others around me did notice Deeney and big Flippo (surprised some of our less physical players don't get crushed by him after matches!) having a "discussion" - someone did point out it seemed more like the latter was doing most of the talking pointing his finger a few times but maybe that is just his way of speaking/making a point?
In article full of fantasy, that claim is the most fantastic. Troy and whatshisname were probably talking about the quickest way to the airport.
Indeed. If Deeney wants to have such conversations I'd be happy if he retired immediately from stinking up the pitch and applied for some kind of backroom position.
Seems to be some very obvious and rather grating PR work going on in the aftermath of the absolute shambles of Saturday.
He's making the point that a billion is a really big number, but in a really clever way. As he said, a billion seconds is 33 years, only idiots that don't understand maths could be confused by this. All you have to do is Google it if you don't believe him. 1 billion seconds is 31.7 years so you round it up to the nearest whole number and get 33. Simple.
