The consequences of that mauling

Right, so nothing clear has ever been stated. People are making assumptions, putting 2+2 together and getting 12. Then basing their opinion off that. Thank you for clarifying.

I’m pretty sure he would be more than happy to play for us. We gave him his big break. If it wasn’t for us, his name wouldn’t even be on the radar and he would never have had the opportunity to say he scored at hat-trick against one of the best and biggest clubs in the world. I would be confident in saying, he is over how we treated him.

Again though, and this is not sarcastic, if you can find me any recent article that states otherwise, I agree with you to sell him.

It’s probably his agent trying to get his cut.

The clear implication was there and you know it. Perhaps try being less contrary, irascible and cantankerous most of the time.

I think the fans demonstrated the perfect way to react when the 5th went in. We need to use it to drive the team on next season. I honestly think it was the perfect response and when the dust settles, the players will appreciate what a superb club they play for. The players cared. Don't doubt it for second. They are professional athletes, who wouldn't have got to that level without being resilient. No reason not to be optimistic moving forwards imo!

If anything, the biggest teams will probably think twice about breaking the bank for our best players. More deadwood will be shifted in the summer and we absolutely must strengthen in the correct areas.

I would much rather support a smaller team, with every opportunity to keep improving, than a team like Citeh.
Even those that aren't 'plastic northerners' were at best relieved at winning the game. When you expect success, there is no joy or elation, just, well 'meh'. This was so apparent from speaking to their fans after the game.

No-one, I’m just trying to get an understanding from some of our fan base that clearly want a talented player sold. I even agreed with you about selling him, if he has made those remarks. So not sure why your upset.

Bottom line is, in February he stated he wanted to play for us, but didn’t think he would get the opportunity so didn’t want to risk staying, just to spend the season on the fringes. Thank goodness we have a player that actually wants to play every game and believes in himself.

UEA was right in saying it depends on how you read into the interview. I really don’t see anything other than a pro footballer that didn’t want his career to stagnate by running the risk of staying here, so wanted to go on loan to get game time.

Now if someone offers us £25mil+ then I’m sure we will sell. However I would like to see what he can do for us first. I genuinely think he would help us next season. If, and it’s a big if, he can repeat what he done in the Bundesliga this season in the Prem, then his value will be even higher.

This comment requires the ability to be able to read between the lines but its quite telling...

And he said, "I do not like that at all. It really bothers me, because it was never my intention. It proves that I do not control my own future.
"I want to stabilise myself and play for a club that suits me well, who often has the ball and where I can enjoy my freedom."

They certainly aren't the words of someone itching to come back. These are his words, not his agents. And they aren't the type of comments a player makes if he's more than happy to play for us.

Really can't see Lukebakio and Cucho being sold. Neither are anywhere close to peak value. Cucho, only if they can't get a work permit, even then he may be of use to Udinese. Also doubt Sema will go, as this would be detrimental to squad depth and Javi seems to rate him, somewhat. Can't argue with any of the others. Would like to see Janmaat and Pererya stay, but this depends on whether they want to. Peneranda will end up on loan imo.

I was relatively sanguine about Saturday, until I found out from the experts on here that some fans of other teams are laughing at us on Twitter. Now I finally understand just how much was at stake and it changes everything.

Is the mood on the Spanish mainland and islands morose in sympathy with Gracia & Kiko & GD, or jubilent for Guardiola and the Silvas ? or is there a noticeable split ?

And Pep G probably calls himself Catalan?

Just wait for next season and all the 6-0 in your cup final chants aimed at from away and some home fans!

Won't bother me, VAR was the final straw for my relationship with the Premier League, so I won't be around to hear them much. I've spent the weekend scouring Google Maps for directions to Slimbridge, Larkhill Athletic and Willand Rovers.

    (Edit - Larkhall apparently....who knew?)

It wasn't the first time we've been battered 6-0 By City and it probably won't be the last. The gulf between them and the rest is pretty evident (aside maybe Liverpool)

Good to know. That makes it 3-2, Spain is mourning with us.

Of course we did our traditional let in 2 late goals to make the score line even worse thing - done it at Liverpool a couple of times and now Man City.

We actually defended fairly well to start with but they seemed to just walk past us at will as the game went on.

They cut us open at the start too but all the crosses just seemed to hit Cathcart rather than finding their forwards - just luck really.

In relation to the other 6-0 win, thought this might interest you:

Bury and Derby were actually neck and neck, separated only by goal average. So I’d say that although the scoreline was the same, the game must have been far more humiliating for the losers. Especially for a club the size of Derby versus one the size of Bury, who were clearly punching above their weight back them, and have been a perennial lower league club since the last war (a bit like a reverse Watford).

  24. I'm in the process of buying a house and putting myself in considerably more debt than I'm already in. This is worrying me a lot more than what crystal palace are going to be singing to us in the first game of the season.

I'll worry about that a week before.

I mowed my lawn and trimmed the edges this afternoon as it happens. Love my gardening. Don't mind if somebody offers to do the boring hoovering though.

    Our lawn has disappeared.

The central strip is grassless after several years of my son doing his footie drills & the side bits have acquired meadow status.

Strange that, a Derby season ticket holder I know at work had never heard of it. I think the biggest consequence will be the extra money the club raised from the final appearance.
