TBF We'd probably be the same had the boot been on other foot - football fans are like that.

Bet Palace/Bournemouth fans etc loved yesterday too..

I said that historically, a ****** end to the season in the Premier League has resulted in fans calling for the coach's head. Had we not reached the FA Cup final, it would have happened again. Some fans are anyway.

All your stats, whilst interesting, are irrelevant to the above comment and I'm really not sure what you are trying to prove contrary to what I said.

Playing Gomes was silly and sentimental. I didn’t see City playing there reserve goalkeeper. I have no issue with losing but we threw the towel in at 3-0. That said when i reflect on the season, yesterday aside, I have enjoyed this season. We need to refresh the squad in the summer and bring in some quality otherwise we will be in a relegation battle

When I got home last night, we watched The Favourite on TV, and both hated it. Then we watched the results bit of Eurovision (we always skip the songs as they're invariably ****). The results were ruined by show-off presenters spinning out their moment of glory as long as they could. Then MOTD.

Some parts of my evening didn't go well

This post is like crime in multi-storey car parks. Wrong on so many levels. Absolutely wrong. I returned to posting after a break way before we started losing. I've been nothing but praiseworthy of Gracia since I came back, and very quick and happy to admit how wrong I was about him. He's been a terrific appointment and has done exceptionally well this season. Nothing in my post this morning was a dig at him. No post I've made since coming back has criticised either Gracia or us. They've all been full of stuff about staying positive during the losing run. Last night I posted a very positive summary of the day. And this morning too. No digs whatsoever. So I would like you to take back your comments please. Retract your last post. I put up with you calling me melancholic and self-pitying, even though you have no idea of my personal circumstances in life that might have kept me off the forum for a bit, but I do not wish to be put down for something I've neither said nor inferred. Especially by the person who's moaned the loudest during our bad run.

It's quite an odd feeling for me this morning.
I'm always loathe to belittle players and accuse them of a lack of application. However I do think JG is guilty of persisting with certain players for too long, when clearly out of form. I would place RP and KF in this category.
Roberto has shown on too many occasions to be too lightweight and perhaps he has never really recovered from his injury.
DJ is more robust for me as a full back and if KF plays,as someone wrote a little earlier,he should be further up the pitch.
Add to that Doucoure again dwelling too long on the ball and the game has gone.
We all realised that we would have only one or two chances and once RP misses and AD gives the ball away,it's a Sisyphean task.
We needed 8 or 9/10 from everyone yesterday and to have two players out of form and confidence is asking too much of the others who aren't at the level of City.
Doucoure is a fine athlete,he never hides, has wonderful energy but as a technician he is not of CL standard. Whether he will improve with better players around him remains to be seen.
I don't blame the players as I doubt very much they gave up but some have perhaps been guilty of believing their own,or possibly their agent's hype.
An interesting summer awaits as ever.

Remember when we played kiko and janmaat together? They used to link up really well together, and looked generally frigging ace.

OK the usual suspects can hang me out to dry but, now that the dust is settling, I think it's time to get a sense of perspective. So, while we weep and wail and wring our hands on here about how awful 99% of our team are, and how our tactics are all wrong, I thought I'd ask a few neutral (& City) fans who watched the game what they thought. And they are not nearly so negative. Funnily enough, their view was that, in the first half, Cathcart and Mariappa played very well; that it was Holebas and Femenia who were struggling. They all thought that, had that Pereyra chance gone in, it would have been an entirely different game and possibly different story. Once we were two nil down, though, we were stuffed as we had to abandon our game plan and chase the game and, not surprisingly, City ran riot in the space they had. The City fans are of the view that the City side that turned up for the second half are pretty much unplayable - one friend texted me after the game "you got us on the wrong day". Yes, the score line is embarrassing but I do honestly think any number of teams might have suffered similarly yesterday against the City that turned up. Of course we need to strengthen our defence and we need to line up a replacement for Deeney and it looks to me like Doucoure's head has gone completely. But I don't feel the impending sense of doom that some do on here; and I still have faith in Gracia.

You wrote this "Is Gracia the best? No, he’s done exceptional well and priced me wrong, he’s definitely above-average, but I don’t think yes exactly the messiah some believe. He has limitations. "

I know your style. You sprinkle plenty of sugar around your true meaning. The bits in bold is what you really want to say, but you add nice things in order to cover it up. That's your style and that is fine, but you shouldn't be offended if someone calls you on it.

You mention something else completely out of context, in order to drum up some sympathy no doubt, but you know full well that was in response to your own sugary dig at me in the first place. You hit out with more untruths saying I moaned the loudest during the bad run. I know for a fact that is not the case.

Your reaction is OTT, as maybe I got a bit too close to the truth, which is why it upset you and now you're hitting out. I even put a smiley at the end so you could see it was said tongue in cheek.

I have no intention of upsetting you though, but if you have a go at people they will strike back. You cannot be so sensitive about it especially on a football forum.

At 3-0 in the Vic match, I relaxed & admired the spectacle.

I think the difference was the hope before yesterday & the tantalising prize.

Like wolves couldn’t have been on the receiving end of a 6-0 from city or anyone outside the top 6.
We were playing with 3 out and out strikers at the end. Hardly normal circumstances. We could have just defended the 3-0 loss. He tried something at least

People deal with humiliation in different ways. Some people go with doom and gloom, some people try to find tiny nuggets of gold amongst the ****.

I just cannot find one single positive after that.

Every player was awful, our so-called best players seem to be leaving the club and the last few games has frighteningly revealed that our manager lacks tactical nous.

Everything now hinges on the pozzos recruitment policy in the summer. And given the amount of duds they sign, how much hope can we have that they will get it right? I'm clinging on to the hope that they will, but then I think of all the flops and my blood runs cold....

I didn't expect us to win but 6-0! A world record defeat! I'm even getting texts from people who don't even follow football sending me sympathetic texts!

    We'll never live it down.

'our continued ambitions to see Watford Football Club loved by an ever-increasing family of supporters around the world'

Wheres the evidence for this? We couldn't even sell out the cup final.

And I hardly think being world record cup losers will see people flocking to support us.

We are what we have always been: a small club with a small fanbase of people with links to the town. We will NEVER attract the casual fan, and I thank God we won't.

Fair play RC. I don't feel quite the same (although I am still squirming inwardly every time I think of the scoreline) but I do get where you're coming from. I probably should declare that I did choose my "neutral" opinions quite carefully - needless to say, I didn't procure the opinion of any Wolves, Palace or Bournemouth fans. For the sake of transparency, it was Leicester, Brighton, West Ham, Liverpool and Spurs fans. But they were honestly all much more sanguine about our team and our prospects than many of us on here are right now. However, I'm not saying that to claim you're wrong or to try and change your mind - just putting a slightly more "glass half full" view out there. Obviously I hope you're wrong, though, or I'd be very worried about next season.

Ah so above average and done exceptional well is seen as a dig? Funny that, I saw it as praise.

My style is to be rational and balanced (I hope). There are usually 2 sides to everything, and when I write I try to see both. Nice things aren't added to cover up bad things, merely to get balance and see others points of view.

I didn't have a sugary dig at you. I said your reply to my post was sarcastic. It was. Calling a person sarcastic isn't digging at them. Calling them self-pitying is bordering on being rude, when you don't know their personal circumstances.

I'm not seeking to drum up any sympathy from people on here who are just usernames, not people I actually know in real life. I just reply to posts that need correcting because the person totally misquotes me or misunderstands my points.

Like the rest of us, you're probably hurting this morning and maybe your way of dealing with it is to come on here and get into an argument or debate with another poster. It's what I alluded to last night. That the forum would now become full of people bickering and taking their frustrations from yesterday out on others, when really we are all supporters of the same club and should support each other through the heartache of losing the final. Such a pity.

I'm sure you have better things to do with your day anyway.

You said something like. "I know this is your sarcastic nature" which is a dig from someone like you. So I gave you some back which you didn't like clearly, as you mentioned it today. I had even forgotten about it and certainly do not carry around with me to throw back at a later stage.

You like to paint a black picture of someone, then run away saying "unfair" when they see it for what it is and give a bit back.

You do not like Gracia, and you are very entitled to that opinion, but please don't dress it up as anything else. That's just not being very honest.

Thing is, he did some stuff really well yesterday. Using his pace he gets into really good places and can cover a larger area than a slower Janmatt. But he is absolutely powder puff at the physical stuff.

For us to have had a chance we needed a game plan. Be compact, physical and rough.

It was almost as though javi selected our line up having no idea at all who we were playing. Baffling.

I don't have a black picture of you. When my Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer, you were the first person here to message me with support. That meant a lot at the time and still does. So no need to play the victim.

Omg you're off again spouting nonsense about my views on Gracia. How about reading what a person says rather than your pre-conceived idea of what you think you're saying? Since I started posting again, I've been full of praise for Gracia. Admitted to being totally wrong. There are 100 posters on here who've been more critical of him than me, including since the Cup Final ended. Just because a person didn't rate him much when he first joined doesn't mean he feels the same now. The 'not the Messiah' comment was merely balancing up my post. He's done a great job but sadly yesterday proved he's not quite at the highest level yet whereby he can beat this amazing Man City side.

I hope this discussion is helping you recover from yesterday's disappointments. Easier to pick a fight with somebody than remember our nightmare defending!

Surprised at the number of people blaming Javi when I think actually he set us up pretty much the only way we could ever have got anything out of that. I'd maybe agree that Janmaat would've been a better option than Kiko, but otherwise I think it was spot on. As with the last month or so of the season, what has cost us is individual mistakes defensively and a lack of clinical finishing (or just taking the wrong option) up front. Don't know what Javi could do about that with the players we've got.

Come on guys, let's not turn on each other or bite to the bait of other club trolls.

Let's reserve our bile for the 14 cowards who yesterday humiliated the 138 year history of our club and disgraced the memories of everyone associated with this club over nearly a century and a half.

The word which springs to mind regarding our performance yesterday was "decimated." Not the modern, common definition, but the original Roman usage. To take a Roman legion which scattered in battle, and select, by the drawing of lots, every tenth man who would be killed, by clubbing, stoning or stabbing by the other 9 in his group as punishment for gross cowardice.
