To be fair our fans after we'd thrashed Leeds 3-0 in Cardiff were silent on the way back to the station. I always remember the Leeds fans mocking us for that. Some matches are just too one sided to bother celebrate properly. I guess it like that for city today

are you drunk? No connection to 1984. In many ways that was a worse defeat as we had a much better chance of winning. We could have beaten Everton.

And what is wrong with supporting a team a team when they are losing 5-0? No one is saying that is a win. But ho many fans would have responded like that? That was not people doing it to make you happy. It was people that knew we had almost an impossible task and wanted to enjoy their day.

Just got back, must say I’ve never felt so deflated. I like many thought we’d lose but to lose in that way is hard to accept. I noticed up to about the fifteen minute mark we contained them very well then the concentration and discipline levels started to drop from a couple Of players, notably Pereyra and Kiko. After that, it was always an uphill battle.
Certain players need slagging off because they were ******* atrocious. Doucoure thinks he’s something he’s not. If he thinks he can play champions league level, he’s in dream land. Kiko is no defender, at fault for at least two goals today. Pereyra lightweight again. Deeney ineffective. I could go on and call out every player, not one player could walk off that pitch with any credit.
It wasn’t technical ability that was the difference between us and them, it was simply work ethic and organisation. We have so much dead wood in this team, I hope it’s cleared out in the summer.

I'm not really sure why you keep bringing up other teams. Utterly irrelevant.

As I said, if WE hadn't won the semi final, they'd be some calling for his head due to the way the season ended. There is anyway.

Because when I think of the fa cup I think of that glorious era, now its been tarnished forever by this gutless humiliation that we have to live with forever. World record fa cup losers.

Supporting a team that has bent over and is being forcibly ****ed in the arse is ******* stupid if you ask me. Why would anyone pay lots of money and then willingly sit there and watch it? Seems really strange behaviour to me

Because it was blatant. That in the CL is given all day long. If that was Mapps or Cathcart, it would have been given as well. I’ve watched it from multiple angles and Kompany moves his arm towards the ball as well. Very slightly, but he knows what he is doing.

VAR is going to help a lot next season, but the 50/50’s will still go in the top 6 favour.

On the players part it was a gutless spineless performance in the second half. Why would you want to wave flags for that? To me the flag waving when watching such a wretched performance is just vitue signalling about what an amazing fan you are. I’ve got much more respect about those who stormed out at 4-0 in disgust.

If VAR isn’t penalising blatant handballs by Big6 it doesn’t bode too well does it?

In those days we didn’t have 1881. That was one of my favourite games - so much fun - but have to say our support was crap (me included)! We made very little noise

  11. Davidmsawyer

    Davidmsawyer Statto Statto Statto

Why is it irrelevant? Are we in a bubble? Do other teams not face the same things we face? If the answer is no, it is only Watford then I take your point. My point is several teams have fared just us badly as us since the semi final. I’m not really sure why you keep finding this difficult to grasp.

I’m not saying we’ve done well. I’m just saying lots of teams have done just as bad as us.

This is not controversial. It’s just facts.

Deeney said in his press conference that we are still looked at as 'little old Watford'.

Indeed, by two thirds of the fan base.

Ask any actual winners what they think of finishing second and they'll tell you - they lost. They hate it.

Paid a hundred notes to see us get ****ed and most of the morons there waved some flags as it was happening. As someone who hates seeing their team lose in any circumstance, I was long ******* gone.

  13. GoingDown

    GoingDown "The Stability"

It's irrelevant as they aren't us. I can't speak for all the other clubs as I don't know nor care about their fans perceptions of their performances.

Historically, a **** end to the season in the Premier League has led to calls for the coach's head. It was a horrific end to the season coloured over by the semi final win.

You don't need an Excel spreadsheet to work that one out.

Yep I was on my toes as soon as he hauled off deulofeu and pereyra. Saw the 4th crash in just as I was squeezing past some flag waving dunces.

I've got no real issue with people staying till the end. You pay your money, you do what you want. but to think waving a plastic flag while your team is being utterly humiliated before your eyes is something to be proud of just blows my mind.

I guess we have to disagree on this point then - and I assume roughly half of the fans there today will agree with me based on the flag waving. There is no virtue in waving a flag. I’m, not pretending I’m better than anyone else. But we are part of a team, part of a family. And even when the players mess up I want to have their back.

There have been times I’ve been a crap fan but these players proved me wrong. Today it was the other way round.

I don’t get the vitriol on here today. We could have got knocked out by Newcastle and finished 14th and people would be happier.

Just seen Troy's interview from before the game talking about how when he's on his A game he will cause anybody problems.

The bloke is in ****ing dreamland. Anyone who's taller than him has a free ride. He doesn't cause anyone a problem with his complete lack of pace and movement and inability to do anything against defenders over 6'1 in height.

Really is time to move way, way past "legends" like him and Mariappa. They're utter dross.

It’s not about being proud. It’s not about saying the players have played well. But if you don’t understand why we did it then I think it isn’t even worth chatting about it.

He, he. I mean Deeney has had a much better season than I expected. But he isn’t the sort of player to cause Man City problems.

He very rarely causes anyone problems except his own team when he reverts to neanderthal mode and puts us down to 10 men.

But some people are saying theyd rather have been us waving our flags in defeat than man city who didn't wave their flags in victory. Its just ******* weird. If it makes you feel better then great though I guess

It really wasn't. And why are you so judgemental about your fellow fans? I don't give a flying **** that I don't have your "respect" because I didn't storm out at 4-0 down. How arrogant of you to proclaim what reaction deserves your respect.

It’s not really a family. Most players look on Watford as a stepping stone. That is the business model. I’m fine with that but when they capitulate so pathetically I don’t have their backs. Stick us back in the championship where we have a squad of discarded pros and I feel different but I don’t get that connection anymore. I’m not waving a flag for Doucoure when he’s had a shocker and angles in the press for a move to PSG.

On the other point. Well, we did win the semi final. And even if we hadn’t , it would have been a pretty decent season
i think that twisting people’s words. Not intentionally - in fact I can see why you say that based on some comments on here. Of course , I’d rather we win and have very quite crowd. 100%. Every day of the week. But that didn’t happen. In fact far from it. We got destroyed.

    We were bossed.

But given that I’d rather not walk out, and rather we stay and support the team. There is more strength in supporting a defeated team than just leaving early in my opinion. But I guess each to their own.

You can wave your flag at 0-6 if you wish, no problem. I just find it strange if you are proud of it.

Your last point is nonsensical? Surely I can determine what I respect and what I do not. It’s a personal viewpoint!

Good question. I genuinely find playing the top6 miserable so skewed is the playing field. That’s 12 of our games out of 38. Plus whatever spankings we get dealt out in the cup.

It was so bloody annoying - I was speaking to my friend and said "We could be on for a record cup final defeat here I don't remember a FA Cup final like it" this pompous pr&ck turned around to me and said "It's actually 26-0 you don't have to worry about that mate. Just support the team." And carried on waving his flag like some sort of superior fan ever so frequently turning around and judging me for not waving mine at 5-0 down like I was happy to be a loser today.

Lo and behold we equaled the record too.. ****.

A younger keeper would have got up quicker after the ball hit the post before the 6th and collected it. Foster, for example.

Sentimental choice of Gomes didn't pay off. Play our strongest team in the biggest match of the season next time, maybe?
