Incredible business to get 3m Euro for him to be fair.

It probably means they signed him to a 3m euro health insurance policy.

I did wonder whether to start an Obbi Oulare Greatest Watford Moments thread.

My entry would've been when someone pumped a long ball forward, he readied himself, eyes on the ball the whole time, leapt like the clichéd salmon, did the whole flick of the head as though he was going to be nodding on to his strike partner... and the ball went about 6 feet over his head. I've never seen a professional footballer misjudge the flight of a ball so badly.

A loss financially, but not a loss playing wise, having said that maybe we might have got our money back through loan fees?

    Crown jewels etc.
We beat Man Utd to sign him you know. I expect he will end up there.

Capping the losses on the flops must be central to the Pozzo model.

Bravo to Gino on this one.

Might not have been such a bad loss. As well as the 3m transfer fee to Liege, we would have got a decent loan fee from Club Brugge.

No doubt there is also an add on should he ever come good.

They got their fingers burnt on this one, but they can’t all work out.

I remember a quote from, I think Giraldi, saying there was one transfer deal the club regrets making. I believe he was referring to this transfer.

Obbi Oulare is now also owned by Standard. The people of Liège announced on their website that the former striker of Antwerp, Zulte Waregem and Club Brugge will be definitively taken over from Watford.
“Standard de Liège, Watford FC and Obbi Oulare have reached an agreement: the Belgian attacker is making the final switch to the Rouches. In August, Obbi landed on a rental basis in Liège, but unfortunately in December Obbi injured his right shin after contacting the opponent's goalkeeper during the last Europa League group match. Last week he resumed group training. Our club and the player are happy to continue the collaboration, "says Standard.
Oulare only got 96 minutes in the league this season and scored once. Standard would pay around 3 million euros for the injury-sensitive striker.

@ 4m that surely must be Sinclair?

Doubt you could even get any transfer fee for him nowadays?

I don’t think so. The quote was made some time ago. Sinclair was a promising young England player from Liverpool when we got him. It was a deal that was probably worth making at the time.

He clearly didn’t work out, but if you look at it from the point of an educated punt, I would say it was a good one to take.

It looks like Standard shell out about 10m Euro per season. It's amazing they have decided to allocate a third of that to Oulare. His lack of ability aside he is ALWAYS injured!

    I hope we've included a buy-back option in the deal - fingers-crossed he'll come good eventually.

Doubt we lost too much on him in the end between the transfer fee, loan fee and future addons.

It could have been a whole lot worse.

Absolutely. I doubt the Pozzos ever lose much on players. Oulare's record is p**s poor but they still pick up a decent fee following several loan payments. I think Sinclair is the one Giraldi refers to where the Pozzos got their fingers burnt. Coming from Liverpool as a young fringe his wages would be decent plus any signing on and agents fees. I would have preferred a bid for Origi in one of the last two windows. Another chance missed to get a really decent young striker?

Origi would be very nice, but I don't think we could prise him away from Liverpool where I think he is highly thought of :(

Origi would have been excellent, and affordable in terms of wages. Until he came on and scored the winner against Everton, he was massively out of the picture and had not played for 18 months. Then Klopp has decided to use him, and now he's part of the set up. There may have been an opportunity to have got him, but there's no chance now.

Well thank you for acknowledging you knew. No one needed to call anyone a 'weirdo' did they?

Maybe the investigation that got you so excited may turn something up yet, but the simpler explanation, that the Pozzos generally get their money back, seems to have just about come through.

I'll give up here I think. I'm not sure if you've confused me with someone else but I've no idea what you're saying or what point you think you're very cleverly making. Just reads like the ramblings of a drunkard.

He inspire passion in every fan. Arguably the most divisive footballer of his generation. One thing is for sure; love him or hate him, nobody could ever have forgotten that we signed him and then loaned him out.

I think we all fear that we've done what Man Utd did with Pogba and we'll be paying through the nose to bring him home in a couple of years, in a specially chartered military Hercules to carry his immense 15ft bulk by then.

    RIP
