Liverpool fans in Barcelona

I have just seen the videos posted on the incidents involving the Liverpool fans in the square in Barcelona. Just not sure what to make of it. Firstly, the behavior is abhorrent and shameful. Is it reflective of the behaviour of men in groups, football fans in groups, English fans abroad, Liverpool fans abroad? It is difficult to know what to do. They seem to be beyond education as they were not youngsters. It would be dangerous for right minded people to intervene on the spot as they could be seriously hurt. The fact that that some felt the needed to publicly humiliate people, is very troubling. Many seemed to think it hilarious.

I know it is not serious rioting, but it is unforgivable. Similar to the incident with the Chelsea fans intimidating the man on the train system in Paris a few years back.

Are there any solutions to prevent this type of anti-social activity, or do we just accept it as part of modern society? We can't be too arrogant to guarantee that some Watford fans were not capable of such behaviour. You would hope that the club didn't have such fans, but this is a societal thing.

It is tiresome and potentially unsolvable.

After careful consideration, I think the only solution is to shoot the ruddy lot of 'em.

A good plan, but could we also include the Liverpool fans who were NOT in Barcelona?

Liked for the use of an old-fashioned euphemism for a mild swear word.

Any different to the "many" groups of fans who thought it OK to kick off with fellow Watford fans at Wembley?

Liverpool are well known to be the lowest of the low, yet the red-filled media peddles the myth that everything about the club is great. And a lot of people lap it up. Even some people on here want them to win the league.

    It's a strange thing.

    - They stole tickets off their own fans before the champions league final.
    - heysel
    - uefa officially branded them the worst fans in Europe
    - the shameful treatment of the local residents who own the houses near the club. Deliberately causing the area to decay to force them to move against their will, plus intimidation.
    - ******* in the pockets of their own fans at home games when standing was allowed
    - supporting the confirmed racist suarez and abusing the victim
    - gerrard and carragher assaulting members of the public
    - too many other abhorrent events to mention

The club is full of scum from the players to the fans to the clubs owners and staff .

Most Liverpool/Wolves idiots seem like late middle aged dinosaurs who will die out. What worries me is our Watford tools seem to be youngsters when I have seen trouble. Football aggression is back on the rise unfortunately.

What the reviewers say about Martin ‘Marty’ Mullens:

‘He’s got that infamous Scouse humour’

‘Book your tickets now and see him before he’s playing to sell out crowds in Las Vegas’

‘Say that you saw him perform in his early days’

‘The man who goes by the catchy name Martin ‘Marty’ Mullens will be laughed at around the world’

Liverpool Football Club said ‘we just asked him to behave in a manner befitted of the club and Liverpool. He gave us that performance and more’

‘Tarby now has worthy competition and that can only be good for comedy’

They all seem to hate Suarez now because he celebrated when scoring and was a general pest.

Sure they loved such behaviour when he was the darling of the Kop though.

Haha. They are upset because someone celebrated scoring in a champions league semi final?

Pretty much and the fact he was just a bit of a pain according to them using a lot of the "dark arts" which of course Liverpool players never do...

    Liverpool’s season is already over.
And they’ve only lost one game in the league all season.
    Remarkable and such a shame.

Even my Man U supporting mate wanted City to beat Utd so Pool wouldn’t win the league.
The hatred runs deep, not helped by so many Liverpool biased ex players sucking a living in punditry.

  24. I generally like to cheer on teams in Europe. It's good to keep up our performance points and keep 4 CL spots at the very least.

The exceptions would be the scum, Millwall, Leeds, and Liverpool.

Your boycott of Millwall in Europe is a somewhat hollow gesture.

Why would you cheer on teams in the same league as us to generate more cash to keep us down?

  28. :D

If they ever get there then by God and Thor I'll be supporting all their opponents!!!!!:mad:

  29. As I said, it keeps more European places open for English teams going forward due to the points system.

If we ever finish 4th then you'll agree with me.

They also got in a hump because an ex Man U player and ex Barcelona (and Everton) player celebrated the Messi free kick.

Thought Liverpool fans had a bit more backbone to them than worrying about ex players cheering on the other team.

After all most of the media are ex Liverpool related!

You see, this is the fallacy in the argument. These teams are only ‘English’ in the sense of where their grounds are located. In reality they are now international mega-clubs, no different to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich, PSG etc. Back in the 70s and 80s I did support Liverpool, Forest, Aberdeen and the rest in Europe but things are very different now.
If we ever did finish 4th I would gladly swap a place in the Champions League (not a league for Champions by the way) for a more level playing field domestically.

There were few English in the great Liverpool teams. I seem to recall they fielded an entirely non English eleven long before @rsenal.

We won't. Maybe in League One. Not the Englishpremierleagueanditslive!

  34. That's fair enough.

However a more level domestic field is not going to happen any time soon so may as well cheer them on if it helps us get there.

British and Irish, though. Wasn’t it Chelsea that fielded the first wholly non-British XI?
For the record, I have nothing against teams having foreign players but don’t support our direct competitors in accumulating yet more dosh to widen the gap in the League.
