Big player to miss final?..

it’s nailed on that something controversial or injury related in the next two games will result in one of our key players missing the final. Even with a full strength team, the odds are stacked against to win on the 18th, so imagine losing one of our best players. Since we beat wolves, I’ve had two separate nightmares, involving Capoue missing the final!!!!!!! PLEASE GOD, NO!
If I think rationally, it’s probably because we missed Wilf in ‘84 because of that Mullet twonk. I’m hoping we’ve used up all our bad luck and mistakes in the last three home games and can go into the final all guns blazing

It'll be OK. We have Success as, back up, or Kabasele, or Massina....

Does a red card in the league count towards the cup?

Worry with playing Chelsea is they do have players who can get others sent off.

You can see a Luiz or Pedro making a meal of something.

I was worried Capoue might get sent off at the end of the game on Saturday.

I'd say it's going to be Prodl who will miss out.

Sema is going to get himself injured I just know it!

Please Javi - wrap him in cotton wool until May 18th!

I seem to remember Wilf Rostron missed our last cup final after being sent of in a league match at some old tinpot stadium somewhere.
    Have the rules changed then?

There was a run of I think two/three cup finals in a row whereby a player sent off in the league missed the final, Wilf, then possibly a Brighton player (could be wrong here) then a QPR/Spurs player another year, they then changed to rules!

    Three skippers in successive years.

Glenn Roeder missed the replay in '82, having played first game, but being sent off in a re-arranged league game a week and a half before the Final, suspension kicked in for the replay. Tony Currie captained QPR in the replay

It was the other way round for Steve Foster for Brighton in 1983. He missed the first game, Tony Grealish captained Brighton in first game. Chris Ramsay got badly injured in the first match, so Foster came back into central defence for the replay and Gary Stevens (the one who went to Spurs - in fact if you want an iffy quiz question, players named Gary Stevens appeared in five successive F.A. Cup Finals, Everton's one in '84, '85 and '86, while the Brighton/Tottenham one played in '83 and as sub for Spurs in '87) switched to right back in the second game.

Yes it does unfortunately. Rules changed this year, accumulated yellows only count in the same competition, reds count across all competitions.

Edit: autocorrect on my phone just corrected "reds count" to "ref c*nt". Very bad omen.

Further edit: I realise that doesn't reflect very well on me and the things I type on my phone...

Steve Foster then Terry Fenwick wasn’t it? But they both were able to play in the replays.

You got it, Steve Foster who I saw put his hands up for a ball boy to throw him the ball so he could take a throw, then when the ball was in the air walked the other way, lovely character, assume they were winning and he was time wasting! But left a lasting impression!

So, the bad luck has started, I see Kevin friend has been named the ref for the final. He ******* hates us. Have we ever won a game when he’s been in charge?

Glen Roader missed the final for QPR too but played in the replay.

    No, other way round.

1982 - Roeder played in first game, suspended for replay.
1983 - Foster suspended for first game, played in replay.

There is no rational reason to believe that our comically bad luck of late (and by extension, our comically bad record against the big teams) will just magically reverse come the final, but things have got to change at some stage, right? We were awful for so long under Wally until the Arsenal away game, I'll go with the same to happen again! 5-0 'Orns

So long as Gomes doesn't get injured we'll be fine. Foster would be a massive weak link.

    That’s below City’s average, too.

    Could be -1 playing-2.

apparently De Bruyne is touch and go for the final, after suffering a hamstring tear earlier this month.

Hope Cathcart is okay, after he seemed to pull a hamstring on Saturday the team seemed to go out of their way to keep passing to him for about 10 minutes before he went off.
