I did not ask about the seating plan.
Just asked them how many tickets were sold at the £45 - £70 mark. They would not say.
Asked how tickets priced at £30 -£45 for the semi final were now £115? They would not say. They referred me to the FA and Wembley Stadium Ltd.

There’s a couple of seats going spare in the royal box...Elt can’t make it, got gig commitments in Denmark & Wills can’t be arsed, said he’s saving his Wembley trip for the Villa in the play offs

    Come on watford !

My guess that it is too expensive.
It will sell out. The Barbour Jacket/flat cap wearing fans will buy up the tickets once they are home from the Shoot.
They will be the ones asking what colour Watford play in..

  7. Yes of course, forgetting Annecy is quite far to north, I'm normally heading for Grenoble. But you are still looking at £150-200 ish in travel plus a huge amount of time. IMO to not go because of an extra £40-70 (for a better seat in either case) is daft unless you are on your uppers, in which case the travel would have made it prohibitive anyway.

£45 return is possible if you look around. Usually around £100+
Time is not too bad if the connections are ok.
Grenoble is good. I was in hospital there when working in Les Deux Alpes. It was not a good idea to ski when tired.
Is not about the money or time, It is about the price of the tickets compared to the semi final price for the same seats.
The FA were asked last season to look at FA Cup Final prices. They ignored the advice to make it affordable and increased the prices this year.
The FA does not care, so l will vote with my feet.
It costs around the same to hire your ski gear/lift pass for the day as it for the average Premiership game.
8.30-9.00 to 17.00 . That would be from the first lift up till last lift up.
Skiing is seen as an elitist sport. Now it is cheaper than football on a pro rota basis.

Ticket prices are the same as last year’s final. This is year two of a three year fix.

Without wishing to be critical of anyone for whom money is tight, I believe that anyone who considers themselves to be a true Watford fan will be at Wembley on the 18th, irrespective of where they live and particularly if they have been waiting 35 years for the opportunity.
Having said that, we all know that football ticket prices in general are way too high.
However, I find it embarrassing that we are unable to sell out our allocation.

To be fair theres part time fans left, maybe some waiting in cat d still. But 115 quid for the part time fans? Never going to happen in the thousands. The rush in cat c was simply to get the 45 quid tickets.

I'd still have gone at 115+ but couldnt/wouldnt have taken 4 kids.

What's this this about us not selling our tickets. The game is a little under three weeks away and we have sold the vast majority plus there's more on the way. The club would not have agreed to that if they had no confidence in us selling them.

At the end of the day, the only one missing out is you. It will sell out or near as dammit. The FA will get their filthy lucre whatever. Your vote with feet will have no effect on anybody except yourself.

Yep, £115+ to watch an almost certain defeat against one of the best teams ever. It's not even like we're on a good run of form.

No-one but a huge fan would even consider it.

Two i think. D&E. Pretty sure some season ticket holders would have promised to get extra tickets for people if they were available.

I don't think it's embarrassing. It's typical of the FA as part of Rip-Off Britain PLC to sell tickets at the prices they have set. They know exactly how much to charge to ensure they just about sell out without pricing too many out or attracting too many complaints. They know that true football fans would pay over the odds to see their team in the FA Cup Final. It's probably carefully calculated by some sort of algorithm switched to 'maximum scalping, minimum publicity' level.

Thankfully the FA will still be annoyed that it wasn't another top 6 team facing Citeh because they could have charged even more. Little Watford scuppered those plans.

We've mostly bought our tickets, reluctantly paying over the odds to sit in a soulless concrete bowl, and the last few left, at £115, will be snapped up by the rich, once-a-season Cat D fans. There will, sadly, be a number of true Watford fans who can't afford season tickets, never mind £115 for a probable 90 minute solid defeat. The FA won't give a flying monkey-f*** though.

I think there should be an orchestrated campaign for fans of both sides to avoid buying ANYTHING in or around the stadium. No rip-off food & drink inside or in the 'fanzone' areas (ie. fenced off bits of tarmac with few facilities). Eat & drink only in the pubs around Wembley, or bring your own. Fans from both sides (The 1881 plus the Citeh equivalent maybe?) should get together to produce their own matchday programme rather than pay the rip-off price the FA will charge for a glossy book of adverts. F*** the FA!

I am not asking anyone to join me. I hope all who go enjoy the day.
Some miss my point. It is about the price. The papers have a piece about the FA and their failure to reduce prices.
The 'Part Timers' tag does not wash with me. We are all fans, home and away.
The Tour de France went through La Clusaz last year. Right past my place on the Route du Col de la Croix Fry, Manigod - La Clusaz. Heaven forbid you upset a cyclist in France.

I like the idea of some kind of joint message from the fans at the FA’s flagship cup competition. Fans will want booze and food but a combined whistle / boo at a couple particular points in the match gets people asking questions which is the desired negative PR the FA don’t want

I take the points that people are making about Wembley rip-off prices and the ‘soulless Bowl’ etc., and I do expect the remaining tickets to sell but they will be either to people who have hardly been to a game for years or new IDs created by season ticket holders for their friends. What I was embarrassed by was that on Friday there were apparently 22,000 category C Watford ‘fans’ chasing just 6,000 remaining tickets, but that clearly wasn’t the case. If it had been they would have sold out in minutes (OK hours since it was Ticketmaster). It makes me wonder if we should bother expanding Vicarage Road.

A lot of negativity about the ticket prices and I agree, but this is a rarity for us, so we should focus on being positive.

The ticket prices for the final is a reflection on modern society and the simple supply and demand equation. Real fans will have to pay more than they would like, but I implore you to scoop up the tickets if you haven’t already done so. The atmosphere that will be created by 30’000+ hornets will live long in the memory. I was living in Ireland as a teenager when we were last there in a final and couldn’t make it across (finances and logistics), but I would not regret it now, if I managed to gather the funds to attend the 1984 final as I would have the memories. Losing is likely, but the hope is still there and an expected defeat is not a disaster. Call me a happy clapper, if you wish, but I intend to travel over and enjoy the occasion with my three teenage boys. My wife and daughter would not be interested in going, but fully support and understand our expensive adventure, even if it curtails our summer holiday plans somewhat.

    Chill out and enjoy.

Possibly the outlier is the French club’s pricing policy.

As a protest against ticket prices I think a boycott of the food and drink establishments inside and in the immediate vicinity of the the stadium is an interesting idea....
    • most people can survive 3/4 hours without food/drink
    • might get some media attention
    • The "real" City fans would probably agree with such a protest
    • unlikely that as a one-off the workers who staff the sales points would suffer
    • would hopefully reduce the number of visits to the loo required by some fans, who have to constantly disrupt the viewing of others

The ticket prices for the final are certainly a reflection on modern football and the demand for them is close to being perfectly inelastic, especially when a team like Watford, who rarely get there, are at Wembley. Almost whatever the price the demand for the tickets remains unaffected because everyone wants to be there.
