Seems like Gino has Fluminese over a barrel. They're in debt and can't pay staff or Udinese an instalment they're owed for a player. So we've withheld the Richarlison sell on and seem to have now secured the rights to one of their talented youngsters as well as we have knowledge of their debt issues.

Time for Gino to get the cheque book out and buy us our very own Brazilian feeder club !

Using the fee received by Fluminense stated in the article posted above by Magic (3.75m Euros - roughly £3.3m), we can work out the alleged Richarlison transfer fee that Everton paid us:

It's widely accepted we paid Fluminense approximately £11.5m.

Brazilian sports media company, Globo Esporte, stated that the sell on fee owed to Fluminense was 10% of the profit made, not the overall fee:

    https://globoesporte.globo.com/fute...s-e-assina-como-novo-reforco-do-everton.ghtml
Translated from this article - "...according to the agreement reached in the transfer a year ago, the Tricolor would have been entitled to 10% of the difference between what was paid and what could be received by the English team."

Assuming my maths is correct, £3.3m is 10% of £33m.

If £33m was the difference/profit, then the total fee paid by Everton (before any additional add-ons) was this figure plus our original fee of £11.5m.

Therefore, Everton paid an initial sum of £44.5m.

Alternatively, as the article you quoted from in the middle says the fee was £45m, the people who wrote it have just reverse-engineered the sell on clause value from that?

Maybe. But Globo Esporte, being a Brazilian sports media company and having their journalists closer to/ITK with Brazilian teams, carried more weight for me than a scouse-friendly journo from the Liverpool Echo.

I guess the truth will out one day. This just seemed interesting, as the third party in this little saga appeared to back-up the Watford side of the story, not the Everton one.

So, we clearly need a striker (still) and I would say a CB too at the least, plus a couple of wide midfield options.

Any ideas? Would like Schar and Perez from Newcastle but can't see us going for or getting either.

Not much quality in the teams that are going down to go for this season.

    Mitrovi* excepted.

    Deeneyesque but better.

Big money but, I suspect, the smallest big money for the proverbial ‘proven Prem striker’.

Edit. Odd that the c plus random Slavic accent doesn’t register. Has the forum’s Brexitometer kicked in early?

Bit depressed that I feel the need to dip into this thread, but here we go. I know he's not strictly a player who's been relegated or is about to be, but Rondon would be a top signing. Depending on what happens at Newcastle and West Brom in the near future, he may find himself stranded. Maybe we'd find ourselves priced out for him, but I'd take a gamble on him

Shouldn't be too hard to find a solid centre back that won't break the bank at least. Send Britos and Pr*dl on their way, have Cathcart and the new lad as starters, with Kabasele and Mariappa as back-up, and that'll be a defensive unit I could trust going into next season

Mitrovic will end up warming the bench for one of the 'big 6'. My money would be on Spurs.

Would you take Llorente in that situation then?

I was so mad when Newcastle signed him, I remember telling Cassettis Beard and Harrow Orn that he was the exact type of centre back we should've gone for. And only £5m as well. No chance of us getting him now.

We could do worse than Rondon for sure.

Might be worth a punt on Hoilett from Cardiff. Better than Sema I'd think.

Obviously it will someone from Italy or South America I've never heard of, so no idea why I am bothering to speculate!

I suspect I could look this up but does anyone know if we are closing our transfer window weeks before everybody else again this season (EPL not just Watford)?

Seemed like a stupid idea last season so no need for it not continue I suspect.

Transfer window opens on May 16th and closes on August 8th at 5pm. It's open to all clubs, apart from Chelsea of course :D

I wonder if we could sign some good players before the FA Cup final!!! We have a day in order to sign at striker and central defender. Come Gino....you know it makes sense.
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ub-club-list-Summer-2019-completed-moves.html

However, this only applies to domestic transfers. For contractual reasons most players are signed on either 1st June or 1st July.

For international transfers, it will be 9th June.

I wonder if we can loan the best English talent from all none competing clubs for the cup final?

I'd have Wilson from Bournemouth, Rashford from United, Mee from Burnley and Maguire from Leicester. That'll do....don't want to be too greedy.

In all seriousness, I wonder if we could sign Cahill in time for the final?

If it is true that the transfer window opens on the 16/5/19 would anyone we sign before the 18th be eligible to play for us in the Cup Final?

Surely not as they would not be in our 25 man squad, unless of course that would not apply as the Premier League Season is over? Could this be another famous "Loophole" for "The Pozzos" to exploit?

Sterling grew up in Wembley & must have played in local leagues for a bit.

Could he be somehow cup tied?

If you are suggesting that all the best players would be cup tied, remember most PL clubs do not field their regular first teamers in the earlier rounds of the FA cup, so I am sure there are plenty of good PL players who are NOT CUP TIED.

Afraid not. FA Cup rules [section called 'Provisions Concerning Players'] say:
I guess they've foreseen this potential issue.

Thank you for your font of knowledge UEA .

Now that you mention it, I seem to remember when I was involved in local football management that there was some sort of law about signing players after a certain date of the season in order to prevent effectively playing them as ringers in the cup competitions.

Damn them. It's so unlike the FA to have foreseen a potential loophole.

Maybe the Pozzo recruitment team will use the final to wine and dine some agents or even potential signings. The Wembley atmosphere, and the thought that this final appearance could be repeated soon - (if we stay on the current course it is more likely than the past) - might be a factor that encourages a target signing to choose us, London and Hertfordshire always looks lovely in May, spring time for Gino at Wembley may be a good negotiating background.

I won’t be hearing any more of this “Pozzo won’t invest in defenders because they have no resale value” nonsense.

Exactly. But the truth is far more that the ones we buy don't have any resale value and the ones that potentially would, we don't play. Maguire is thriving because Sheff Utd and Hull gave him games when he was young. We have Wilmot and decided to convert him to a CM and persevere with Mariappa.

Webster probably isn't worth £25m. But one solid season and you'd probably make money on him in todays market, such as it is.

Leicester buying Ayoze Perez for £30m.

The transfer market is becoming near impossible to get value in.

    The Wilmot affair is bizarre.

Javi strikes me as shrewd & increasingly pragmatic.

Does Pozzo see def mid as a higher value asset than CB?

Is he arbitraging this with Wilmot?

If so, will all WFC players be moved progressively up the pitch to enhance resale value?

Will we be playing 1-1-8 in May?

Maybe he sees Wilmot as a defensive midfielder short term betor moving back once he has the experience.
