Well the incident was in the summer and reported at the time...

Might have been given time to prepare the case though..

Don't question or criticise one of the best strikers in the Premiership.

I think the club may play their cards close to their chest, or remain tight lipped at times.
I suspect that they would not lie to us though, although I might be wrong on that.

  4. I am becoming a big Gray fan.

Last couple of games he has been getting into the right places so often. He could be a 20 goal a season player next season with a bit of longevity in the team.

Keep him and Troy and I'd not be worried about goals next season. Just about the supply to them if we lost our creativity in midfield.

  5. The only way he's getting 20 goals is if 10 of them bounce off his arse or the back of his head whilst he's running the other way.

Awful player, simply not good enough.

Better as a sub and when he doesn't have to think about a finish or controlling the ball.

Does like an instinctive finish tbf.

In the 12 matches (over 4 1/2 months) before AG’s assault case was dismissed, he scored/assisted 2 times.

In the 12 matches (over 2 months) since, he has scored/assisted 7 times.

No matter what you say or think about Gray, how many points has he earned us this season? At least 7 off the top of my head, Everton & Leicester wins and the draw yesterday. If he hadn't scored in those we'd have 5 points less and be thinking about 10th as a big achievement this season, not potentially 7th. So fair play to him despite his poor first touch! He's keeping our league season interesting for us.

Hes far better when Deeney is alongside him.

He cant hold it up, and definitely prefers to run in behind which he couldnt do much of as he was our focal point last night.

Fair play to him though, never let his head go down last night and got us a very valuable point in the end.

If theres anyone that deserves criticism its Deeney for gettig himself sent off, its clear how important he is for us and we have missed his presense massively over the last three games (counting Arsenal).

    We will struggle against Wolves.

  11. His first touch is the big issue. He's in the right place at the right time more often than not so has the right instincts, and does know how to score. Just has a piss poor first touch.

When was it recently that he brought down the ball brilliantly to lay on someone? Think it was Cardiff. More of that would be great.

Gray is far better than mot give him credit for, but he is certainly most effective when in a two. He isn't a hold up target man so pumping balls up to him is a waste of time.

Last night was being in the right place at the right time. I'd rather Gray than Success any day of the week.

Fulham - to help Deeney score.

And yes he is a better option than Success - mind you Ryan Cassidy probably would be.

Also the 3rd goal in the cup SF. With a bit of luck he'd have scored 2 in the SF 1st half. Ok he missed them but he bust a gut to get on the end of the final ball and no-one else in our squad would have seen the chance.

Rather than give certain players the encouragement they need to grow & as fans enjoy observing the long term improvements & gains as seen in AG this season, yet they still prefer to criticise & it's still not enough. The idiocy is compounded & made worse when said player has only gone an scored last night to salvage the game in which many players were tired & below par.

We are not aiming to be a top 6 team, it's always been clearly stated it's to be the best of the rest.

If Gray can get you 10 goals a season, add to this the assists, committed work rate & provide an alternative structure/outlet in which to change a game, which he can. Then don't see any reason for anyone to criticise. You need to spend 25m+ on a player with those qualified attributes at the top level nowadays.

If he stops doing those things next season, that's the time to criticise.

I think people have to stop being quite so precious about certain things. It's ok to be critical if it's called for, just as much as it's ok to say how well someone played. It's football. These guys live a good life, getting paid a fortune.

He gets paid more than anyone else, to do the job he does at the club. He should be a nailed on first team player very week, but he's not. Now the money he was given is not his fault and of course he's going to accept it, but with that comes a certain expectation.

Now, I accept he is probably as good as he can be, which is fine. You cannot blame someone for not being able to do things he is not able to do. But that's not much good for us as a club. I've not read anyone who has given out unfair criticism of Gray.

I believe we just need a first team player who is far more reliable in front of goal than Gray is. For the money we're paying, we certainly could get someone better for the position.

That's not to say, I think Gray is rubbish. Far from it, he's an excellent choice from the bench and he does have an impact on games. However, we become very limited when he plays from the start, and when the club are paying £70k a week, we really should be seeing a far more accomplished player.

He is what he is. Never likely to wow us with us technical ability, but his work-rate and knack for scoring goals make him a valuable member of the squad.

He’s not the man to lead the line for us, but up there as a two, he’s certainly got his role. He also seems a well-liked member of the squad.

Expecting anything else from Gray is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

The last couple of games certainly highlight the importance of Deeney. We definitely need to have our eyes on a replacement for him in the next couple of years. Getting that right is likely to have a major impact on our immediate future.

Anyone has got the right to be critical, no one is saying you don't, so no need to keep repeatedly labouring on that point.

If you are going to lament a striker, in my book you do so because they are on a poor run, not showing the work rate & looking like they are lacking the desire to improve. AG is far from showing any of those traits, so you are then essentially left by being ultra critical of him on a match by match basis for missing a number of chances in any given game. Any striker whatever the level will miss a vast array of chances.

Then having the gall to say "you think people have to stop being quite so precious"....when you are the one consistently reflecting that very same trait.

But you are being precious...…..you have to be able to take the rough with the smooth.

It can't always be happy and fluffy......that's not the real world.

So "in your book" it's ok the criticise a player if the situation fulfils your criteria of when the time is right. Please can you post on the forum when that time is, so we will know when we can start posting. Thanks.

Happy & fluffy/take the rough with the smooth...what are you on about exactly? You haven't pick up on any detail mentioned.

It's hard to take your writing too seriously when you criticise him in one sentence & 'don't get me wrong I like him' in the next paragraph. All you are saying is you don't think he scores enough with the chances he has for the money he's paid. Which you can say about most of the strikers in this division outside the top 6.

He is a confidence player, made his way up the leagues the hard way. Why not support & encourage him when he's doing well & has attributed considerably to the recent team performances, rather than needlessly slag him off?

Press reports say Glasgow Rangers think they can take him on loan next season. He is not my favourite by a long way. But nine goals this season and Rangers think we would let him go on loan! Honestly I don't think he deserves that level of disrespect.

Wouldn't that be an all-time record transfer fee for Scotland (incoming at least)? Seems to hard to believe they'd spend so much.
