Poor Huddersfield didn't even get a mention but they always rush the last few games..

Naturally it looked like we were outplayed and lucky to win which always seems to happen !!

Yet again the opposition are made to look vastly superior to us on the MOTD highlights, but if you look at the match statistics they are fairly equal, in fact we had more shots on target and not forgetting we actually won the match!!!

However, yet again purely by watching the MOTD highlights any one watching would think we were completely outplayed and lucky to win the game. Does Gary Lineker (spelling?)have a say in the editing and the running order of the games? Me thinks he does

Yes, but aren’t Wolves having a great season?

Not really, they lost to a greatly inferior (some might say tinpot) Watford at Wembley.

Wolves are a breathe of fresh air; are playing lovely football; are beating the top six; have a very nice foreign chappie managing them who can speak good English; were VERY unlucky not to be in the FA Cup final; are challenging for Europe by ending 7th.
AND, they are a BIG club.

    That's why.

Well in this case it’ll be more about the battle to escape relegation which, after title and top 4 chase is naturally the next thing to look at. I know we’ve moved into 7th and possible European place but it’s not really that interesting. Of, course that’ll all change if Wolves best us next week. It will be first on MotD and they’ll all be creaming themselves over the prospect of European football for the mighty wolves and can re-introduce the “best ever team to be promoted from the Championship again”.

Lineker is becoming an increasing irritant on MOTD. The whole programme is geared to the top six and I am sure he has some editorial input with the producer. Scarcely any worthwhile analysis of the game. Cheap and lazy. Just like most people who watch the game as commentators marking out Doucoure as the seasons best player or indeed Deulofeu. Capoue has been absolutely immense. If Lineker and the BBC don't like the so called smaller clubs featuring on MOTD then come out and say it. This snobbery and elitism is tiresome. Not mentioning disrespectful. And notwithstanding the tedious so called banter between Jug Ears and his fellow pundits.

We don't need it. A return to the old format of showing each game with a brief introduction and maybe swift tactical analysis afterwards. And we might actually see more football.

Ah the fairytale story of the club who spent £300M to escape the Championship. Jug Ears clearly said last week he was disappointed for them after the FA Cup loss. A big loss for the media circus and so called entertainment value.

  12. I don't know how BBC get away with it tbh.

They are public financed in order to provide entertainment for all. Yet MOTD is so clearly built around a commercial mass market big club big audience interest thing.

The pundits won't be happy until the likes of Leeds, Villa, Forest replace the likes of us, Bournemouth and Burnley

Last night showed the love the BBC have for Wolves. They had a 0-0 with Brighton yet were shown 3rd in the running order.

Huddersfield v Watford was second last, even though it had 3 goals in the game, and the editing made it look like we were fortunate.

I prefer Match Choice on Sky. When you watch this, you can see clearly Watford were the better side, as their editing was a fair reflection on the match.

Apart from the commentator, who did not raise his voice when Deulofeu scored his first goal. He made it sound like it had as much importance as a throw in, but got very excited when Huddersfield scored. Apart from that, the Sky coverage is vastly superior.

When people write about the ‘big’ clubs outside the Premier League (Leeds, Villa) they always include Forest. This is incorrect. Their two Europeans Cups were an astonishing achievement, almost wholly due to the ability of their manager, the great Brian Clough. They have done little since then and historically, they are nowhere near the size of those other clubs in terms of their previous achievements and the size of their city and fan base. They probably rank somewhere just below Leicester.

Tbf Wolves v Brighton was probably on high as it was an important game for the latter in terms of the relegation...

But 0/0 was the best Brighton went for looking at the highlights!

Hughton is a horribly negative manager. I'd never want him at Watford. Was dreadfully defensive at Norwich as well if I recall.

Not sure the BBC has been clear on its remit since Channel 4 launched.

Serious science & arts shows have dwindled/been mortally trivialised; landmark costume drama is migrating to Netflix; news reporting is lazy (see EU coverage) to gormless (that appalling breakfast programme & the clickbait website).

They know they should retrench & focus on quality but are petrified that that will halve their handsome salaries.

In the absence of management worth the name a chancer like Lineker can run rampant.

Exactly as David Attenborough put it (a former BBC controller). They really have dumbed down aside from the admirable BBC4, Radio 3 and Four , Poldark and the odd other drama series but the point Attenborough was making was trying to reinvigorate the inform and educate aspect of the BBC. Instead of endless so called talent shows, cookery programmes and cheap nasty television they ape from ITV.

The number of flagship programmes they have cut in running time, dumbed down or removed is appalling. Shows like Horizon, QED and The Sky At Night (trampling all over Sibelius to advertise another programme) for example. All they seem to care at the BBC among the hierarchy is chasing ratings. They seem to have given up on sport unless you are a fan of the red button or it's a protected event. How channels like 5 and ITV4 can get hold of Premiership Rugby, the Tour de France is disturbing. They seem unwilling to pay even a reasonable amount for these and there are numerous so called minority sports that could get an airing and as they used to do on Grandstand get people interested. Ice hockey for instance. Especially with Team GB in the World Championship top pool this year.

And as for the continuity announcers. Seems as if anyone will do now. No matter that they cannot pronounce words clearly or with any clear diction.

People will watch MOTD regardless of who presents it. Manish Bhasin could do it on a fraction of the salary that is paid to Jug Ears. Ditto the news. People watch the news I would think for it's content not who is reading the autocue. Newsreaders also command ridiculous salaries and seem to think they are somehow unique. They are not.

    Hear, hear!

    It’s down to senior management.

I’ve met a few & they are all rather grand.

No hunger, limited imagination, eager to preside.

For instance, with a sense of humility the BBC would have ignored Formula One & gone all out for cycling. Not difficult to see 10 years ago. In fact, impossible not to see but not grand enough for the panjandrums.

What the BBC have contrived to make of their website is the most breathtaking.

In the 90s, the BBC led getting the UK online.

25 years later that website is a drivelling excrescence.

    Inane clickbait.

Not worthy of public funding & not meriting private money.

    Isn't it just!
They seem to increasingly have a philosophy the exact opposite of Reith's: Not to enlighten nor properly inform.
I resisted the notion that they showed political bias for a long time - it is after all a very easy politicians' whinge - but I'm afraid I now think they do.
I have also had occasion to field their correspondence to any address that does not have a licence - It starts off with snarling legal threats and continues in that vein with letter after letter.

The website is its own weird enclave.

As if run by a clique of repressed sixth formers.

News comprises What are Pep’s Top 10 Favourite Songs & a slack jawed litany of ‘offence imposed on the oppressed’.

And I doubt they even wear dinner suits when writing it.

Can't bear the way the BBC seem to believe their audiences are either 12 or are ******** and have a mental age of 12. The very very worst are Dom "Rip off Britain" Littlewood and Angela Rippon. Both are cringeworthy and unbearable to watch for the few seconds before the remote is found.

Tbf they push ladies football big time. We get full coverage of many games and the standard is sometimes better than the boys u13' s school team (sorry boys AND girls as we cannot discriminate or not be inclusive).

Also, you can set your clock by the excellent 'we'd better do some sort of Christian programme so we're not totally open to criticism' weekly Songs of Praise - as long as your clock has a variance of 4 hours.

These exceptions are important though. Sky Arts does a bit, but no other broadcaster in this country, and very few across the world. You’re also missing the World Service (not what it was, but still...), the Proms, and stuff like ‘Blue Planet’. And there is plenty of sport on BBC radio still, of course.

It may not be what it was, I agree the website is ****, and Attenborough is right to say that it could return more to its remit, but I’d still much rather have the Beeb than a commercial broadcaster.

Perhaps it helps that I don’t watch MOTD so don’t get annoyed by it.

Just watched The Debate recorded from Sky last night, and they had a chat about the 4 clubs chasing 7th. They spoke about Everton, then Wolves, then Leicester...….but didn't even mention Watford once......not even said the word "Watford". It's just getting ridiculous now.
