Any vinyl junkies out there getting ready to queue up all night and pay extortionate prices* for a bit of circular music? I did a few years ago but that side of it doesn't attract ant more. Going to a record shop on Saturday afternoon to listen to some local bands whilst having a browse through what's left after the ebay scalpers have got their fill is a good way to spend an hour or so given the FA Cup Finalists v FA Cup Non-Finalists match is on Monday.

    * eg. Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody OST on 2LP picture disc @ £55  or Bohemian Rhapsody 7" single on coloured vinyl @ £17

Madness: One Step Beyond picture disc single £21

The Police: Message In A Bottle 7" double pack £20

I'm all for supporting independent record shops over your HMVs of this world (although sad the Watford branch closed recently) but not at those prices!

I fear the record labels are having a laugh on this one.

Having started buying (a lot of) records in 1973, I love vinyl. Actually, they’re simply records & I often still play them.

But new vinyl seems scammy & trivial.

Picture discs were wannabe in 1977.

The issue began when records became vinyl.

My theory is it's a side effect of cold ankles due to lack of sock wear, wearing jeans two sizes too small or over tying of the man bun.

People have to be seen to be buying stuff like limited edition records or take photographs in overprices restaurants that have mediocre food just so they can post to facespace about it.

I've come to realise that I've turned into my dad and got old. Next week I shall be starting a sentence with "The youth of today....."

Is a needy virtue signalling as part of the problem?

The desperate mission to demonstrate ‘authenticity’ without much of an idea as to what it is?

I had a limited edition of 'Message In A Bottle' in green vinyl.
    I wonder where it is?
