I don't even remember Doyley's Wembley goal. Did he remember to celebrate with the fans that time ?

I think he did. His header against QPR was felt and celebrated the land over.

I was watching Deeney’s goal against West Ham in 2016 yesterday.

    Was GD’s better than that?

(I appreciate it was not a Wembley goal, incidentally - but some similarity between the two strikes).

GD's was the goal TD thinks his was.

    GD's is a Ferrari, TD's has a Q plate.

    GD's caviar, TD's taramasalata.

Wright just pips it for me as we were (as usual) underdogs on the day. Del boys goal was fantastic but the athletic nature of Wrights finish just adds a bit more to his goal. 10/10 for Wright 9.5/10 for Del boy.

To those saying that Wright scored that goal with his eyes closed - is this what he himself said or fans with good eyesight actually saw that day? I've seen a few vids of that goal, but they're either of very poor quality or don't have a replay, so it's practically impossible for me to see.

Deulofeu’s goal is comfortably better for me, even though both are good. The technique, the meaning, the pure nonchalance of the effort and celebration.

Wright’s was good. Brilliant in fact. But I doubt he could have replicated it 50% of the time if you’d asked him to try. Deulofeu could.

Odd? It’s just a look of arrogance towards away fans. He’s done it before. It’s very much in the mould of ‘Ronaldo’s’ current choice of celebration.

I prefer a cupping of the ear, but each to their own.

Which is exactly why I think Wright’s was better. So unexpected.

Nicky Wright. His goal was a thing of beauty. Deulofeu's didnt look half as good with that weird looking leg/foot movement.

My dad and I (plus those around us) were fortunate enough to have a great view of it: perfect angle to see the shot and the arc of the ball going into the corner, just the right elevation from the pitch. Pure, blind luck (but I wasn't complaining).

Thinking about the euphoric celebrations which followed still makes my spine shiver to this day.

Having been at both the games when these goals were scored I have to say that did not help me when trying to decide which was best, as I was two rows from the back on Sunday, but even from there it looked such a sublime strike. And in 1999 even though I was behind the goal about 2 rows from the front, unfortunately it was at the other end, although I did have a great view of Smarts goal :D

Therefore my deliberations have been made by TV replays, and quite frankly I am sitting on the fence and calling it a draw, as they were both great goals for different reasons.

Wright's was a great athletic strike and Deulofeu's was a sublime stroke of class, therefore I cannot separate them

Were we underdogs in ‘99? Both ourselves and Bolton overtook Wolves in the last few games, we beat Bolton during the run in and finished 5th to their 6th. My memory is that, like last Sunday, we felt it was a 50/50 game.

We had largely a team that got promoted from the third tier, they were relegated from the Premier league the year before, we may have finished one place above them but on paper their squad was much better than ours.

As football is played on grass rather than paper, we won, but the first 35 minutes we were under the cosh and if it weren't for Alec Chamberlain we would have been behind be Wright got his goal. I don't think that Bolton recovered from that, the second half was quite dull until Smart finished them off near the end.

Why doesn't he do it every game then ? I'll expect at least once in the final.
