Your Wembley experience

So obviously the match and result trumps everything. But that aside, there was quite a bit of negativity about Wembley, ticket sales, what the atmosphere would be like etc.

For those who went, give me an idea of your experiences by answering these (if you can be bothered)

Didn't go to this match but went not long after it opened for an England game. I think it was Capello's squad vs Switzerland.
Sat in the corporate bit. Was all very posh, but the view wasn't great and everything was eye wateringly expensive. It also took an hour and a half to get out.

 

Behind the goal, very low down. Not far from the drums in that block. Had a nice black flag to wave and a big Javi sheet over my head when the players came out.

Atmosphere was cracking but I had to stand the entire match and have not done that since the 1980's. Back ached quite a bit after that.

Definitely going to sit (or rather stand) there for the final. You could see me and my group in all the close ups from behind the goal. It's great seeing the expression on people's faces who you actually know.

 

I was in block 532
Went for £30 tickets because it would be too expensive to take a family of 4 on higher priced and I didn't think that my experience of the day would be governed by the exclusivity of my seat

Most fans around us were ok, quite diverse mix of families, older fans, couples, young trendies on a day trip etc. but there were a pocket of typical, self righteously football thuggish lads to our left. Stood the whole game, loudly effing and jeffing, which didn't bother me, but then when a couple of Wolves fans were IDed about 6 rows back, one of them felt compelled to go and have a fight with them. Seemed like handbags but completely unnecessary. I read the messages on the phone of the woman in front of me at 2 nil - her friend pointed out that she should go back to supporting stoke as her dalliance with Watford was clearly not going well.

I was well distanced from Wolf fans, but rubbed shoulders with them on the way in and out and had no bother. One guy out his arm on my shoulder which had my guard up instantly, but he just wanted to say "well done, fair play and I hope you beat City." He was typical of the people I saw and overheard, though I'm sure there were some tossers among them.

I would sit there again and would day 30quid was about right.

I spent another 5.20 at Wembley on water and that's all. I'm quite parsimonious when it comes to ****** football stadium prices

Price of ticket =£30 (plus booking fee), I'm cat B, but went for the cheap seats, because the place is a rippppp, I spent the extra cash on over priced red wine.
Atmosphere where you were = Pretty good, sat with people who wanted to sing.
Opinions of the fans sat around you (day trippers, families, muppets) = Ok, although I'm pretty sure it kicked off in block 533 with our fans fighting each other, when we were 2-0 down.
Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them = Not close at all. Thought they were pretty mental outside the ground. Lot's of older fans shouting about, "THE PASSION HAS RETURNED". My only thought was, if you lose this, you're gunna be crushed. They had a Leeds vibe about them.
Would you happily sit there again for the final = I would for £30, but not £45, that would be taking the piss , but I'm not in the country for the final anyways.
Worth the money = Yeah.

 

I sat next to a family four in 532...I might have been next to you, because we had those idiots to our left. I was with my lady. I look like Jesus, she is small and blond.

 

was wondering how **** the £30ers were, considering they are going to be the £45ers for the final. So it's good to hear they arent terrible.

Not sure whether to splash out as it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, or just get the cheapest possible ones, and just ensure I'm so pissed it wont matter where I'm slumped.

Price of ticket -£65 Adult and £55 children
Atmosphere where you were - immense atmosphere throughout especially when we scored, equalised and took the lead only downer was the fans to the side of us who were arguing and chucking drinks after 15/20mins - glad they got the boot - not needed when all the people there support the same team - maybe had too many shandy's beforehand
Opinions of the fans sat around you - good mixture i thought, families (including myself s with my two boys), youngsters and couple's
Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them - quite close as there were a few idiots above us in the second tier giving it the large until we equalised and took the lead - think it was part of club wembley
Would you happily sit there again for the final - yes happy to sit there again minus the idiots - didnt cause me issues though
Worth the money - £186 for 3 tickets including the booking fee is a joke but glad we paid it - worried on how much the final tickets are going to be

Which block were you - 141

Price of ticket - £80 (Cat 1)

Atmosphere where you were - Pretty good. Enthusiastic enough, although maybe a block or two too far from the singing section for my liking. Had to take what was available. No real sustained chants got going and then the PA blew away any chance of a collective sing song at the end.

Opinions of the fans sat around you (day trippers, families, muppets) - Absolutely fine after a 3 or 4 absolute terwats were ejected inside the first 10 mins for being abusive towards others asking them to sit down and then trying to fight. One in particular looked like he'd peaked too soon bless him and his mates just couldn't get him to wind it in. I think it took three levels of steward to turn up before the 'hands on' ones were on scene to hoof them all out. Shame it got to that really but seems to be a something everyone witnessed wherever they were.

Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them - You could just see it was their big day out. For the same reasons we found in 2013 & 2016, they struggled to make sustained noise except when they scored and for a minute or two afterwards. Their mosaic thing before kick off backfired - they were all stood there like statues for 10 minutes nearly while at least our end looked lively. The few Wolves fan I spoke to were alright.

Would you happily sit there again for the final - I think the same ticket is £145 for the final, so will probably try to migrate to Cat 2 if I can. I wouldn't sit upper tier for a Watford game there so it's always going to be pricey.

Worth the money - Yup.

532 here as well, but £45 seats. Great if remote view, brilliant day, except for the *** behind us who just would not stop announcing how shytte we were, how each player who made a mistake (or not) was shytte, they'd always been shytte, blah shytte, blah shytte, blah shytte. I turned to have a word and his mate warned me (old man with walking stick) off before muttering "Wembley brings out the worst in the prawn sandwich brigade". Still, he shut up for a bit. When we were roaring the team on they were absolutely silent, and then when Deeney put away his pen and we were going absolutely apeshytte, I turned around and he was just standing there with his arms folded looking smug. What an absolute knut.

We had a nice Sunday roast and a couple of pints at the Castle on Harrow Hill before getting on an empty Met line train to Wembley Park (an Uxbridge branch train, the Watford branch one we just missed was rammed)
Walked back to Wembley Central and went through the front entrance (after sweet talking the cops, it was exit only), and straight onto an empty Bakerloo to Harrow and Wealdstone. All in all an agreeable and mostly civilised day out.

Price of ticket £80 for me, £70 for my 6 year old boy. Plus booking fees.
Atmosphere where you were Fine, I sit in the SEJ so similar to that. I try and join in but I'm usually singing and clapping on my own. More important for me is the view and that my son can see.
Opinions of the fans sat around you (day trippers, families, muppets) Very mixed. A few old boys and families. Everyone mainly sat unless something exciting happened. Had to keep picking up my son every time we attacked late on and in extra time. That was fine if a bit annoying!
Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them Didn't notice any above us or anywhere else nearby
Would you happily sit there again for the final Yes, although I'm loathed to pay more than I did for the semi, and I know the same seats are going to be £120ish. Not keen on the upper tier and worried that if I go for the cheaper lower tier seats there'll be too much standing for my son to be able to enjoy it.
Worth the money Yes, but only because we won!

 

Was in block 133.... Great view and surrounded by some normal people

Enjoyed the Box Park experience but everything vastly overpriced

Thought we were going to be outsung based on outside the ground but 1881 did a good job

Wembley really only a good experience if you win

 

I was in about ten rows from the front of block 530. Pretty nice view, although a bit too high up. The seat was probably worth about £45-50 in comparable stadia. I didn't attempt to purchase my ticket until about 1am following ticket release, so I had no problem with the booking system whatsoever.

I only had one drink in the stadium, which cost about £6 for less than a pint of some not very nice lager.

Atmosphere didn't always travel. I could see the Watford fans jumping up and down and singing but could only really hear the drum until the blocks to my left joined in. Then it was loud and clear. I was probably one of the loudest singers in the block, but a few joined in when it was clear which song was being sung. The atmosphere was probably the equivalent of the far side of the Rookery from the 1881, although it comprised mostly of day trippers and families, and there wasn't much standing.

I saw absolutely no fighting whatsoever. There were two comically stupid (Crabbe and Goyle wannabe) Wolves fans in the block who were sniffing a little too much (and I don't think they had colds...) They went to the steward after Wolves first goal, said they were lost and asked how they could get "back" to their seats" in the Wolves end. Amazing. They did not reappear in the second half.

Wolves fans generally seemed alright, with a few idiots trying to spoil the day. As well as those mentioned above, there were a small number of teenagers on the Jubilee line mouthing off Watford, but saying nothing out of the ordinary.

I'll try get closer to the 1881 for the final if possible. Because we got 120 minutes and the experience was incredible, it was easily worth the cost. However, I'm not sure the same will be true of the final.

Price of ticket - Cat B tickets £65 for me and £55 for my son
Atmosphere where you were - Atmos was great, on the end of the 1881 section I believe, really loud constant singing, my son really enjoyed the atmosphere
Opinions of the fans sat around you (day trippers, families, muppets) - All hard core fans TBH, all very friendly though
Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them - Long way from the Wolves fans, although there were the prawn sandwich Wolves muppets up above, tried to ignore them
Would you happily sit there again for the final - Yep gonna try to get tickets in the same location
Worth the money - Yes definitely wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Funny moment - 3 lads in front of us left their seats just before we won the penalty, I assume they were going home, came sneaking back in just before Troy scored!

Atmosphere where you were Pretty good (even when we were losing)

Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them Not near enough to them to notice, although I did see some trouble from afar
Would you happily sit there again for the final Yes
Worth the money Yes. It was relatively expensive, (and the beers are overpriced), but we don't get to a semi final too often ……..

 

Block 134, front row....don't ask me to relive the trauma of the booking experience to explain how come we got them
£45 for me & £35 for the wife
Good atmosphere
Fans around us were a reasonable mix of youngish "lads" & older fans...but most people were singing
No real contact with any Wolves fans inside the ground. Those we came across outside before & after seemed OK
Will try to get sets a few rows back
Worth the money..especially as we won

This is such a shame. An historic day for our fans ruined by a handful of morons.

I hope you don't give up on taking your family to the final and I hope they want to come and that the experience is more positive.

Atmosphere where you were It was pretty good. Lots of singing. The flags helped I thought.
Opinions of the fans sat around you (day trippers, families, muppets) It was a mix. Lots of families with youngish kids
Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them No where near in the ground but spoke to a few before and after and were all decent enough.
Would you happily sit there again for the final Yeah for the price. It is a bit far from the pitch but a good view.
Worth the money Yes, especially for that experience!

 

We were middle of 542, pretty much behind the goal. The view was better than I feared & the atmosphere traveled all the way up from the ground section.

Mostly families/couples/casuals immediately around us.

Some lads just behind who were committed singers. I think there may have been some fighting at the top of the stand but I had paid my money to watch football & I didn't turn around.

We had £55 (?) seats although my son gets the student discount. It's 40 mins for us to get there so we didn't bother with food or drinks.

We couldn't get wifi. Do you have to be on EE? Only pwd protected ones came up. After 5 mins we gave up & just enjoyed the occasion. Flags were great & so much more effective than the foil manoeuvre in a shared stadium.

The Wolves lot seemed fine to me. A little cowed by the occasion I felt. We stood next to a particularly morose dad & son at Wembley Central. Blow me down but they followed us all the way back to our eventual tube stop 40 mins later. Didn't say a word the whole time.

Atmosphere where you were - Good, constant singing, people were in a good mood even at 2 - 0. Nice to see fellow horns just appreciate the fact our team got us there, ignorant to the fact we were going to go on and win.
Opinions of the fans sat around you (day trippers, families, muppets) - All of them were clearly season ticket holders or seasoned go-ers
Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them - Far. When they sang, they made one hell of a noise. All of them stood up the whole game but did not sing very often which is in itself strange. Lucky some of the farts on here were not in amongst them. Do not think the stewards could take it.
Would you happily sit there again for the final - Would happily sit anywhere, but yeah i would happily stand there again.
Worth the money - Yes of course

Atmosphere where you were - Not bad, see below.
Opinions of the fans sat around you (day trippers, families, muppets) - As soon as the match started someone went and got a steward to tell everyone to sit down. He then had angry words with fellow fans saying his daughter can't see the game. The people in front of me sat still for the whole game, not in the least bit bothered about what was unfolding in front of them. A few others around us were passionate about the game and were regular match goers by the sounds of things.
Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them - A long way away. Crap mosaic. Decent noise at times but seemed resigned to losing in extra time.
Would you happily sit there again for the final - No. would rather be behind the goal (which we tried to get for the semi but Ticketmaster were crap)
Worth the money - No. Stupid price for a game of football.

Atmosphere where you were Good, lots of singing except when it was 2-0. Difficult to hear the songs being started by the 1881 singing section, however.
Opinions of the fans sat around you (day trippers, families, muppets) A mixture, but mostly regulars. Time sitting and standing was about 50/50. Completely unaware of the trouble in neighbouring blocks.
Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them None anywhere near us in the stadium. The ones we saw before and after the game were fine.
Would you happily sit there again for the final Yes, but a few rows higher. It was so much better than the top tier we have been in on the last two visits.
Worth the money We’re lucky enough for it to not be too much of an issue. So yes, I wouldn’t have missed it for the world, although I don’t see the need to spend any more on the overpriced food, drink and tat in the stadium.

Atmosphere where you were - Not bad, got going after our first goal.
Opinions of the fans sat around you (day trippers, families, muppets) - The people behind were those who sit near me in the LGT, people in front were all 65+ but genial; generally good.
Proximity to the wolves fans and your thoughts on them - A long way away. I thought the mosaic looked good. Not much noise but that could just be Wembley's acoustics.
Would you happily sit there again for the final - Yes, but the price may be prohibitive, most likely will be in the 500s.
Worth the money - Money can't buy that amount of euphoria.

 

I was in block 533 which was ok. Regardless of the occasion, Wembley is a god awful place to watch a football match and horrendous to get away from.

Worth the money Yes. As a well known credit card company's advertising department might say, "Coming back from 2-0 down with 12 minutes to go to win an FA Cup semi final against a team whose supporters suffer from the delusion that they are a top club.... priceless"

 

Pretty much this...in 531 four from top on end of row - clear view...no problems. Amazed at how many were going down steps 5/10 minutes in!! Have a pee before!

There is a really small band along the front which is the lower category, we were lucky enough to be at the back of it and in a decent view.
