I bow down to anyone who has the time to do these previews with anything more than a few lines of hopes for the game ahead but I’m currently waiting for a colleague in Slug and Lettuce in Canary Wharf and he’s late so I have 5 minutes and it’s past midday on Wednesday so let’s get it started.... All I ask is that we don’t have anyone getting adventurous as per the pre-Liverpool thread believing we will get anything. And that we don’t get anyone saying that it’s a ‘good result’ if/when we lose but only by a small amount. 3 or 4 nil. Paul Lake hat-trick, Shaun Goater header and Ben Thatcher sent-off in injury time making Jose Holebas the LB on the pitch with the best temperament. Happy for the thread to take on a tangent re. Favourite Nuts, Perfect Savoury Snack etc etc. (Be warned, others may not be so happy for this to happen.)
Will be interesting to see the tactics and line-up. Must win game. 4-0 to MC. Have we discussed ice-creams before ? Häagen-Dazs salted caramel is wonderful stuff
What is to discuss? We will lose by 4+ goals to nil. That's it. I have every respect for fans making the journey.
So long as there are no Liverpool songs or Man U songs. If there are they can ******* stay up there, the ********
I predict us to win this one. 1-2. A huge shock. We're 2-0 up at half time, through two counter-attack breakaway goals. They get one back halfway through the second half, but can't find an equaliser despite hammering on the door for the final 20 mins of desperate defence. Foster is a hero.
60-65 minutes of that is the cup game a few years ago. Could happen.... But I’d expect the same collapse and 4 goals conceded mind you.
The fixture I find difficult to get excited about. I look forward to every other game but this one I just can't because I don't think we have a chance. I can't imagine many people will go to this to be honest I'm very much a Mr Whippy fan, no sauce or extra ingredients except maybe a flake
At least you can get the lid off unlike Ben & Jerrys which is just a flimsy bit of paper that sticks to the ice cream so that just the rim comes off when you pull !
I'll switch on to watch with that 1% feeling of 'you never know'. Then I'll continue to watch it as goal after goal goes in and I feel more miserable by the second, but still unable to switch it off for some bizarre reason. Even at 5 or 6 nil with minutes remaining and us not even able to touch the ball in their half - or probably anywhere on the pitch - I'll still stare at the screen. I'll not be able to justify to myself why I've done it as the final whistle goes, and then walk around as a grumpy old git until I go to bed. If I've not said it before, I've got one lucky wife. Success last minute winner??
Is it even worth turning up? I've heard a team can forfeit a match by a default score of three nil. But, I guess that's the cowards way out. As long as it's a better performance than the horror show at Anfield where it looked like we were beaten before kick off, I will be pleased. Keeping the score down of course will help. Wet Spam and Muff actually kept that down to just one - so yes it's possible. It's also possible for us to get something, if they have an off day. Being that we are the late Kick off on Saturday and on the box, it would be even more special to get anything from it. We played OK there last season, Gray even got a goal. I have to go with the crowd on this one, it's going to be a massive task to stop such talent, but I don't care how much money that team costs compared to ours. I know our squad have heart and courage. To even step onto the coach or onto the touchline to play them, must take guts. I just hope our GD doesn't take a battering again. Good luck boys. and to all fans going along. MC 3 Watford 1 (again).
We lose. Hopes of a tight, competitive game are bulldozed as City go 3-0 up inside half an hour. Easiest prediction of the season. I would love to be proven wrong. I’d actually be more than fine with a repeat of the Vic result not that I want us to lose obviously. Get anything out of this and I will really feel 7th is ours.
To be honest, the only Watford player who will have to have guts to play against them will be whoever has to deal with Aguero and his customary hat-trick. Would play Kabasele on that basis as we know Mariappa flounders against the best the PL has to offer. Understandable really. But the other 10 players I’m sure will have the blow of a 6-0 defeat softened by 50 odd grand a week.
When we play this type of match we turn into Notts County for some reason. There is one bright spot, at least we have a decent referee for this game. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...inted-referee-for-manchester-city-vs-watford/ We will get mashed, but in a season where we get torn apart 5-0, 4-0 and whatever happens on Saturday, we can win the FA Cup and finish 7th. You've gotta take the good with the bad.
That is the cold honest truth of it. It takes more effort on our part of fans to sit through a pasting against top quality players than the lads of our beloved team knowing as such they can think of the meme: "We go again"
Free hit We win , must be odds on favourite to come 7th We draw, 1 more point then expected We loose , at least City stay above Liverpool Only bad result is if we get stuffed In terms of how we play, was listening in the radio and they made the interesting point that city are better at playing defence teams as it’s what they have the most practice at, so tentatively suggest **** it we go for it and see what happens Either 1–2 to us or 7-0 to them
To paraphrase Ian Darke. “Watford may be getting beaten, but you aren’t a football fan if you aren’t enjoying this display from City”
Not a massive ice cream fan, but in Ireland you can't beat an HB choc ice. 2-2 Cholevas and Delefeleyou
We'll lose by 4 or 5, may aswell rest everyone for the QF and give some backup and youth players a go. Delefou to score in both halves 90/1.
