The key to a good ref is that you don't notice him in matches. On that basis, Tierney is the best at the moment IMO.

Atkinson, Dean, Marriner & Moss all need pensioning off. Taylor is "the look at me, look at how important I am" (like Elleray used to be twenty years ago) ref of the current crop.

The key to a good ref is he gets the decisions right. If you don't notice him much it is probably because the teams aren't giving him many decisions to make in the first place.

True, but all part & parcel of the same thing really. If the ref is getting little or nothing wrong you're not sitting there getting wound up by his performance, therefore you tend not to notice him.

all relevant,I fail to see how G scott can remain impartial or even handed when he is tapping into a fan on the side. he seems to manage more of our games than any other side - bit odd??

Oh yes, fair enough. But it's when the going gets rough that referees are tested, isn't it?

This poll is particularly difficult to complete.

Much easier is to vote who is the biggest c***

    I vote:

    1. Kevin Friend
    2. Mike Dean
    3. Jon Moss

I also hate Martin Atkinson ever since denying the most STONEWALL pen ever seen in 90th minute v Spurs last year (handball by Vertonghen or was it Dier) but he misses out on a top 3 spot purely because, unlike the other 3, just by looking at his picture, my blood doesn’t boil and I don’t get the urge to shout C***********************!

Probert is a cheating c***. Blatantly a muff fan and yet seems to be allowed to their games. There are some stats out there somewhere re how many pens and red cards he has given against teams playing Muff.

Atwell is, to coin a Colin phrase, no better than a Sunday trainee.

Taylor and Oliver I would simply describe as pr1cks.

  12. I'm not really sure where to start with this ref, or his linos (sorry assistant refs that don't actually assist).:

Silva complained about him bit I'd say he gave them a hell of a lot more than us.

Did he actually give one of our guys a card because their player demanded it?

He seemed to miss a lot and be influenced by their players massively.

And as for the lino in the second half who had no idea who's throw it was so just stood there like a lemon waiting for the ref to choose.

    Dear lord.

There is a list of referees who are consistently bad for Watford. These are Oliver, Taylor, Moss, Mason, Probert, Madley (in the Championship), Friend & Scott. Quite a big list but you know when you get one of these guys we certainly won't be given any favours.

It says a lot about a referee that he was by far the worst thing in a game that poor.

Watching Spurs v Leicester. I predicted before the match that Oliver would give Leicester a soft penalty. Oliver, true to form, delivered.

He has his pet teams, and teams he dislikes. He’ll think nothing of trying to manipulate a result. Such a cheat.

And didn't give one to Son which was pretty much the same sort of incident .

  20. hornetboy1

Exactly. The Son one was far more of a penalty, but he got booked for diving.

  21. Stevohorn

So now the refs have gone over to favouring the smaller clubs right?

Nope, just Oliver does this because he’s a cheat. He hates United also and does his best to give penalties against them as well. Leicester are one of those teams he likes, for some reason.

Once you know a referee understand his motives, it’s easy to predict how he will officiate.

In all walks of life, you’ll find dishonest people. Referees are no different.

Blimey i would never have thought it was that involved.

Perhaps a list of which officials favour or dislike which clubs would come in handy? Would go along way for us to predict results and a great guide for those that like a gamble.

Good to see Michael Oliver getting slammed on Ref Watch for his cheating.

Basically, they agreed the Spurs one was a penalty and the Leicester one wasn't.

What about Mike Dean. I actually don't mind him, but he always wants to be the star. Look at how he signals the penalty in the Man City v Chelsea match.

Actually I don't really have a problem with that. A little joke after the match is fine. But doing a ridiculous pointing to the spot makes the whole thing a bit too jokey. A referee should act professionally during a match at all times. It may have been a carnival for Man City but Chelsea wouldn't have been feeling like that.

I actually like Mike Dean. He's a character, but you shouldn't really be taking the p1ss with your actions as it undermines your credibility.
