    Very good goalie.
Fantastic saves so far this season.

    Praise from lots of pundits.

Surely got to be an england call up for him.

Or will Southgate say no because he doesn’t play for a top 6 club?

we'd be a bottom 6 club if not for him this season

He said he didn't want to play for England again. Wanted to extend his club career instead. And that's what we want, don't we?

Sorry is the hardest word for him...

I'd rather him finish out his prime years at Watford like Gomes has done. Playing/training for England on top of a Europa Cup run will only wear him down quicker at his current age and it's unlikely he'd even start for England anyways, knowing Southgate's prejudice against us for some reason.

To be honest, I don't think he's interested in returning to the England set up. When he retired from international duty he did say he would reconsider if there was a crisis.

Reading his interview yesterday, he feels he's got a few years left in him and wants to emulate Van Der Saar.

I agree ith Jenas that he is probably the best Engish goalkeeper at the moment other than Heaton or Pope as Everton fans have turned against Pickford for inconsistency - they really haven't forgiven him for the derby error and blame that for their run of form.

To be fair, Southgate did award a cap to Chalobah.

    But not Deeney.

    He did to be fair.

  13. I do hear that one of his songs is a paean to Foster and his favourite youth team of the 1970's, Oxhey Jets.

  15. There was of course also his goalkeeping ode to the difficulties of defending the penalty area against South Korean strikers "Don't Let the Son Go Down on Me".

Not true. Deeney was given a England cap. He worked in the Wembley Kitchen and wore a chef's cap taste testing the new beef in the burgers.

Interestingly, Foster is a trained chef.

I wonder if Troy asks him about, say, Beef Wellington & then sits there, drooling, as Ben runs through the recipe.

Enjoyed that. He's a strange one isn't he, in a way that is so very normal. Don't think you could get away with that way of thinking if you were an outfield player (yes, I'm aware Ledley King didn't train at all but seemed far more driven), but nice to hear him talk about psychologists in football because it is easy to forget that, ultimately, footballers are normal people thrown into a world of immensely high pressure. Money can't solve everything.
