Brighton is a seaside town south of Balham which is the gateway to the south. 65 miles south of London, the town has been a popular day trip resort from Victorian times when it started a car rally in 1896 and is now the longest running such annual rally in the world. Brighton has a shingle beach which pissed me off as a boy cos I thought beaches were supposed to be made of sand. Situated by the pretty South Downs, Brighton has a pier and ‘many other attractions’. Apparently there is a football game going on somewhere near the town tomorrow at which the locals are playing the famous Hornet Stag Hart Mooses identity confusion team from Watford in Hertfordshire. Discuss.
Didn't snow much and not much else forecasted so shouldn't be any issues with transport Doucs plays we win. If he doesn't we lose. Stay in the pub if he isn't there. Brighton 0-4 Watford
With the snow this might be called off on safety grounds. Hopefully it goes ahead. Tough to see us really getting at them at their place. They showed they can compete with the best of this leauge and must be looking at us for a win. We need to bounce back from the Spuds loss and I think a point wouldn’t be a terrible result. Depends on formation and lineup, I expect a tight game with us mainly on the defensive. The crowd get behind them so we have to quiet them down early, Score first we need a second to kill it off, something we find hard to do. I can’t see any real changes inineups, but I would start Pendz and Deeney? See how they do. Gray sub for Pendz if he tires late game. Move Delafoo back to his more suited position and hope Peyera gets a better game. 3-3
Would be good to rest Success - he’s been poor recently. Peneranda or Gray involved hopefully instead whether starting or the bench.
I’d love to see the reaction when The Boo Boy Eleven get a run out: Gomes Navarro Marriappa Britos Massina Chalobah Cleverly Hughes Sema Gray Deeney Bench: Dahlberg, Prodl, Capoue, Delofeu, Quina, Pereyra, Success Brighton 2 Watford 0
I’d like to see Success loaned out to a league two side for a couple of months, to hopefully toughen him up. At present, he’s like a giant cuddly, lovable teddy bear with banana skins stuck to the bottom of his boots
What are the away pubs ? I'm assuming the Wetherspoons on West Street but something nearer the station would be good for the short hop to Falmer.
the problem with Success and Gray thus far is that they are not really impact subs, they have their best games when they start. And as Deeney will always play don't expect too much from them when they come off the bench if a result needs to change for the better. I would still like a Deeney Gray partnership to resume with Delefeou on the right but that's just me. And I don't understand the love for Peneranda. Not yet anyway.
Yeah, it's interesting Javi got praise for that and then for changing things up when it seemed opponents started to suss them out, but he's never revisited that pairing.
To ensure the “Honey’s off dear” quote isn’t misinterpreted Broad-bosomed, bold, becalmed, benign Lies Balham, four-square on the Northern Line. Matched by no marvel save in Eastern scene A rose-red city, half as gold as green. By country churchyard, ferny fen and mere What Quills mute inglorious lies buried here? Oh stands the church clock at ten to three? And is there honey still for tea? "Honey's off, dear."
Good feeling about this game. Everyone pissed off we threw the Spurs game. Got my last prediction spot on vs Toon. So same again. Seagulls 0 Hornets 2
Can't see us winning this one. They've only lost 3 at home all season and that was to Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool. They are a very good home side. They've beaten Man Utd, West Ham, Wolves, Palace and Everton. Also drew with Arsenal. I think we'll lose, to complete a fairly dismal week.
Foster Janmaat Cathcart Mariappa Holebas Deulefeu Capoue Quina Doucs Pereyra Deeney Win or lose we go again.
Couple of things How do teams manage to be quite so different in their results dependant on being home or away? I play tier 17 football and you turn up to pitches that look like a ski slope or appear to have just had the sheep removed, in those situations you can understand the effect being used to a pitch could have. The size difference as well can be massive at grassroots football, but there's not THAT much difference at professional level is there? Because yes Brighton are very strong at home and it'll annoy me if we get played off the park against a side below us in the table. Secondly, Peneranda is surely in line for a place in the team or at the very least a run in the match day squads? We have 4 strikers who can't score goals so why not give him a run in the side and see what he can do? Other than that, looking forward to it, great season so far, great job by nearly everyone at the club top to bottom.
I’m especially looking forward to seeing our new central defender and striker we DIDN’T ******* SIGN!!!!
Good news - sister has got us two free tickets through a friend of hers at Brighton. So a nice day out for me with my sis, whatever happens on the pitch Bad news - just found out those tickets are in with Brighton fans, to the left of the Watford contingent (so near and yet so far). So a **** day at the ground, whatever happens on the pitch 2-1 to Brighton; forum implodes
Went there last season. Absolutely awful game. The only good thing about the day was necking the remaining 2 cans of San Miguel I had just before going in. Was too pissed to really care what was happening on the field and giving it the big'un to a 4 eyed Brighton fan in the home end to my left was what I was focussed on for the majority of the game. Expecting the same tomorrow, except I won't be there because I will never again put myself through the embarassment of giving it all that and then conceding minutes after, especially when it's a fanbase as intimidating as Brighton's.
