When you colleague goes off on a rant about people not following procedure and filing things in the right place, only to find out mid rant it was actually him that hadn't followed the procedure.

    He'll be re-living that for weeks.:D

Had a chap from Holland today complaining about our software. We did a remote session into his server and soon realised what the issue was. It wasn't us!

I love it when your girlfriend of 3 1/2 years dumps you (via text from another country by the way) and after a moments shock, you realise you have actually dodged not just a bullet, but a whole artillery attack...
and have three dates in the following five days with random girls you talk to in pubs and supermarkets. Then you hear (via her cousins husband) that she's made a mistake and wants you back...
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Not gonna happen you mug.

....and then one of her mates see's you on a date and tries to cause trouble, to which I calmly said "don't forget, she dumped me, did she expect me to stay at home sobbing for weeks?"
    Ha ha you mug!

Shades of Kelso about this story but it would benefit from more detail regarding their vitals and any frequent, passionate urges.

    My job. Brilliant it is.

Spend my days cheering people up, sorting out little jobs for them, making their grub, seeing they're alright and comfortable. It's very satisfying.

  19. Snow. I love snow. And we've had bugger all up here so far. I mean, I made sacrifices to move here. The least the bloody weather could do was bloody snow a bit.

Meanwhile we sit in some kind of twilight zone of zero snow while 98% of the country is basking in a glaze of dusty white goodness.

I think this post is in the wrong section.

I agree, it was really enjoyable. You may have already seen several similar documentaries on YouTube about some of the "classic" albums. They are a revelation to me, because when I first bought them back in the 70's and 80's I sort of took them for granted and I was naive as to how much studio work went into their production at a time when studios were so much more rudimentary than they are now. I think I assumed that everybody went into a studio, then more or less played each song and then went home.

    Going to football matches abroad.

So far I've clocked up games at Malmo, VVV Venlo, Rapid Vienna, Hajduk Split, Borac Banja Luka and Partizan Belgrade whilst on holiday - good way to speak to some locals and get a few beers in. You can drink in your seat everywhere I've been to games apart from Serbia (it's ok to set fire to stadiums and shoot opposition fans over there but no alcohol thank you).

It's KV Kortrijk v Charleroi in the Belgian premier league in a couple of weeks for me and the family.

    Nice one!

    I've only been to four, all by chance as I was travelling;

PSG (before they were rich & famous) v Sochaux at the Park Des Princes, Paris. 2-0
Brondby v ? in Copenhagen, with a then-unknown Peter Schmeichel in goal. 3-0
Barcelona v Valencia at the Nou Camp, with a certain crisp-peddling MOTD pundit playing for Barcelona. 1-1
Real Madrid v Man Utd at the Bernabeu, with Beckham playing for Man Utd. Loved watching Man Utd lose 3-1 sitting with Real Madrid fans!

All turn up & pay at the gate, except Real Madrid where we paid a tout just over face value 10 mins before kick off after convincing him we hated Man U!

Since he's stopped having to say "do you want fries with that" or ensuring that the punter knows it's Macdonalds Cola and not Coke, Clive has generally been in a more agreeable mood.

Did you go? What was KV Kortrijk v Charleroi like? I'm over there this weekend, staying in Kortrijk, and they're at home to Cercle Bruges on Saturday night. Toying with going, but it'll mean a bit of a dash to get there in time for kick-off, so weighing up whether to bother or not.

Good atmosphere? Can you get a beer inside the ground?

It was great. Proper old school ground, very noisy and friendly locals. Definitely go.

Yes you can have a beer in your seat - they sell half pints of Jupiler for €2 which is a decent lager. As an added bonus, this weekend it's only €1 a beer from 19:00 until 19:19 - they have a big thing in Belgian football about the official number of the club, which is allocated when the club is founded and Kortrijk is number 19. Their ultras group is called United 19 for that reason.

There's a big area by the ground with bars, a very loud DJ and food or you can get one under the stand. The queues were very small but you need to get a card that you top up or use a contactless card to pay - no cash.

Don't expect Cercle Brugge will bring many, but should be good.

You can buy tickets online without registering here to save time in advance: https://kortrijk.tickethour.be/l0019ww/homePage.html

If you go, make sure you go up Morseelesstraat to the ground and bar area as you can't get to the turnstiles from the main road.

I'm definitely going to go and watch them again.

Yeah there are one or two very proud and unashamed racists amongst them. One or two of them are demanding and unappreciative too. However the vast majority are a pleasure and a delight.

Just this week I've had to hook my finger down an old chap's throat and pull out a hacky-sack (!) that he was trying to swallow and on which he was choking. Obviously he's got very bad dementia.

Also got a thorough soaking when kneeling in front of another chap. Had just finished showering him, sat him on a towel on top of the loo and was just trying to dry him off. He let go with a copious stream of steaming pee, all down my legs. Although I jumped up like a scalded cat, still had to squelch to my next job with my trousers still dripping wet. Lovely!

The job also made me cry this week, or at least my eyes to water up. Old dear who lives with her bully boy son couldn't find her tablets. He was going wild and shouting at her "where have you put them?" and so on. She had no idea as she has dementia and couldn't remember anything. She kept helping us look and then after a few seconds later forgetting what we were even looking for, which drove the son into even higher levels of rage.

Had to step in and have a quiet word with him about empathy and tell him it didn't matter how many times he asked her, she couldn't answer. Poor old girl was crying her eyes out, as much through frustration of having to acknowledge that her mind is going as the son shouting at her. Persuaded her to sit down and have a cup of coffee whilst her son calls the GP to tell him the pills had gone missing. As I brought her coffee in, she was absolutely bereft. Gave her a big hug (probably against regulations) and felt my eyes watering up.

It's a tough job both mentally and physically, but I still like it much much more than working in an office.

When you've finished giving her a hug maybe give the son a clip round the ear. Fair play to you Clive because I'm not sure I could that job if I'm honest
