When we got him, he was allegedly injury-prone. If I remember correctly, he played every minute last year. He had an operation this year immediately prior to the season and went straight into the lineup. I think I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on an "injury". Besiades, when he's out there, he busts a gut, even when he's not playing well.

I wouldn’t accuse him of never trying, not at all. But I think we may well have differing opinions on what busting a gut entails. He tries but that’s the minimum I expect from any player. This season, I haven’t seen him outperforming our other players.

There's a school of thought that Douc's presence allows Caps to do what he does. I have absolutely no idea if this is true as I still watch football games like a 6 month old baby watching a mobile of the universe rotate above its head

Doucoure confirmed out again this weekend. Imagine my shock....

I don’t think this is anything untoward from the player himself but given PSG stating they will do business this month and are desperate in midfield, and couple that with Doucoure’s comments that our board will help him facilitate his dream move - in the face of a £50m+ potential windfall, I’d be very surprised if this injury is genuine. It’s extremely well timed.

I doubt we would have played him in the cup anyway. Our next league match is 24 hours before the window closes though.

I worryingly agree with you. PSG are desperate and will pay absolutely crazy money. I could see a bid of well over the 50m mark. Just hope we have a quality replacement lined up.

I am 100% certain that if he goes we won't get any replacement, let alone a "quality" one.

I would at least hope we may buy a wide player and accept Hughes is a central player, not a winger. I could accept that.

Quite. An individual who rarely has the courage to voice his own opinion yet is abusive to those that do. It’s fair to say he doesn’t add much.

I don’t often get involved in the petty bitching on this site (I have a wife for that !!), but I don’t understand how comments like this add anything.

PSG appear to have signed Leandro Parades for about €47m - doubt they will follow up interest in Doucoure.

I reckon the a few of the Top 6 will be interested come the summer.

It's possible that his head isn't in the right place but I think he's more professional than that.

Now that PSG have signed Leandro Paredes, I'm sure that Doucoure won't be leaving us for them.

I think we can put this thread to bed now until at least the summer, when the rumours of Sssnake trying (and failing) to sign him inevitably resurface.

Yep. Presuming we get 40m+ who cares? We'll get some other mercenary in for a couple of years who will be approximately as good before we flog them on too.

It's utterly pointless getting attached to any of this gang of rat bags.

Our Doucoureless performances against Burnley and Newcastle (1st half) make me think we will miss him more than we think.

Looks like they've gone for Idrissa Gueye instead (£21.5m bid). Anything to unsettle Everton is fine by me.

Their only constraint would possibly be FFP rules. More likely to get Gueye than Paredes or Doucoure who are much better players. Certainly the Everton midfielder looked rubbish last night.

Stories like this really annoy me.

What makes any West Ham fan think if West Ham want someone from Watford the move is likely to happen? Have they seen the league table? Or even just the last game played? 7th-20th is all the same. The only way we're seriously going to lose a player to another team in the Premier League is if it's a big six club or manager and player have a relationship ala Richarlison. West Ham, Everton, Southampton, Leicester etc none of these are a step up from Watford anymore and people need to realise this sharpish.

Do West Ham fans think Doucoure would be excited about a move there and put in a transfer request to force a move through because they're so big and attractive to play for? Deluded.

What's so damn special about Declan Rice all of a sudden? I'd never heard of him until he scored a goal the other week now he's the best thing since sliced bread apparently.

Whufc have always had a jumped up idea of where they are in the football hierarchy. Scummy club who in my growing up days were one of the original yo yo clubs flirting with relegation most seasons.

I met Abdoulaye Doucoure before the Burnley game , he told us he hurt his knee at palace and he “is staying”..... make of it what you will..
