The beauty is that we have been under the radar the whole time. Even now there is more attention paid to the fact Everton are struggling, than how well we are doing. Long may it continue.

Of course we want Europe now. Perfect reason to improve the squad without having no games to give the "second string".

If our pitch to promising players is ‘give us 3 or 4 good seasons and then go to a club playing in European competition’, giving them that competition at WFC could help to attract more talented players & even keep the existing ‘stars’ for longer.

Exactly, even when in Europe Udinese were a selling club but allowed them to get even bigger bucks for their players.

  6. We’ll be fine in Europe. Burnley struggled because basically they are 5hit and in 9/10 seasons would finish in bottom 6 anyway. The Europa squad doesn't have to be the same as the Prem squad, we could use some of our back catalogue players (Bachman, Okaka, Hoban, Foulquier etc) plus some Udinese spares to spread the load.

Supposing Man City get banned from Europe for their financial cheating, that would be another place available for also-rans like us

Europe is not a pipe dream this season and in fact if we had had a bit more rub of the green with several bad refereeing decisions it would already be looking like a distinct possibility.

It surely could be worth some player investment to help us acheive Europe this season as it is so close to our grasp right now!

We will play in Europe this season.

eg. Cardiff may be in Wales, but it is still in Europe. Even Newcastle (just).

    I'll get me coat....

We play ourselves in third round of Europa Cup?

Or, in case of Brexit, we get a bye to second round of League Cup?

    Clear as mud.

I said it on a different thread but this a huge opportunity for a club like ours, an opportunity that we might not get again for a long while so I would like to see us get a quality centre back in and have a real go at the FA Cup and getting to Europe. I don't mean waste £30m on a player but surely it's got to be worth a small gamble. I wasn't old enough to do the away games in Europe back in 1983 and never thought I would get the chance again so I would actually be a little disappointed if we don't push the boat out a little and go for it. What I don't want to do is look back at this season as a missed opportunity in a few years time.

Hear, hear! Going to see the team at Kaiserslautern and then take part in the Cup Final at Wembley we’re the greatest experiences of my time supporting Watford.

Kaiserslautern away is the one I'm most gutted about missing. The other two not so much!

Don't be too upset. From the station it's uphill all the way to your seat. Makes Newcastle walk and stadium look flat.

    The current position is:
    • 7 points better than this time last year (33 vs 26). This is the same as after the last game.
    • 9 points better than the comparable fixtures last year (33 vs 24). This is 1 points better than after the last game.
    • 9 points better than the '40 point' line (33 vs 24). This is the same as after the last game

I predicted we'd be on 32 after Burnley and that made it 45 in total so I think we'll end up a whisker under 50 now.
The trend (slope steepness/ points per game average) is a slight improvement over last year.

Wow, I know Saturday wasn't great but that seems a very negative outlook as you think we will only get another 12 - 16 points this season from 15 games. Traditionally we do tail off and a good cup run could affect league form but I would hope for a few more points especially as we have Fulham and Southampton to play at home and Cardiff and Huddersfield away.

We need to score a hat trick soon, as this stat is a bit embarrassing.

Thanks. Looking at that list I think Paul Furlong vs Birmingham was the first I witnessed. I remember the we want 6 chants.

Genuinely surprised Marlon King didn't get a hatrick in the promotion season.

Our very own Andre Gray on the list.

I was just thinking that either he or Cathcart would be most likely.

The shocker on the list is Man U.

    None since Fergie.

It's gone a little under the radar, but considering how poor our away form was under Gracia last season, and was the stick used to beat him with by certain members on this forum, it been an amazing turn of fortune.

We've played 15 matches in all competitions, and only lost 3.

    For the record, the stats read as this:- P15 W7 D5 L3 F24 A16.

I know we've only played 1 of the top 6 in the league, so this record is bound to take a hit before the end of the season, but it's a brilliant record and one deserving of praise and recognition.

So our first ever hat trick was scored by Tuggy Beach. A name that wouldn’t sound out of place with some of our recent youth pleasers!

With regards to home form, we've lost 5, but four of those were against the top 6, so largely expected defeats.

The only blips were the Bournemouth anomaly, which was down to Jon Moss, and the two disappointing draws with Newcastle and Burnley. All other results have been good.
