There are always one or two exceptions, like I said, but the overall general tone is either negative or to be ignored. To say different is not quite correct.

To say we are getting the most positive coverage in 45 years is strange, but I’m not going to challenge your view. That’s your opinion and that’s fine.

It’s not just Watford, but most clubs outside of the top 6, unless you’re one of the favourites.

I think because of the season we’re having and the quality of goals we’re scoring along with a lack of expenditure, we should be a shining example. Alas that doesn’t seem to interest anyone or rather doesn’t interest the media.

I agree, Gino is extremely quiet. He rarely gives interviews. SD is the club's spokesman, but the club have an approach of judge us on what we do, not what we say.

I think that's actually a strength, as they can never be held accountable for not delivering on promises. As long as we're progressing, that will never be challenged. If we went on a Sunderland style freefall, then the quiet approach would not wash, even with patient and placid Watford fans.

But we are a success story. The only thing the media do is scratch their heads and say "I don't know how they do it"...….they probably think it's a fluke and will burn out, but so far that's not happened. I'm very surprised there's no one that wants to find out what makes Watford tick and why are we are continually defying the odds.

  3. A Brighton fan on talksport brilliantly called out talksport on this earlier. Unfortunately he was going up against a completely biased numbnuts im the shape of Mickey "I love Liverpool so badly it hurts my penis" Quinn.

Such a shame that these so called football shows just disrespect real football fans so much.

At least when Deeney is a top pundit he will constantly put Watford on the map and it will even out for us.

    He won’t get a chance.

The conspiracy will continue as he is forced to talk about his time as a bricklaying apprentice, his big break at Walsall, his time in prison and what it’s like being a Birmingham fan and how a big team like them should be in the Prem.

But playing devil's advocate I'd suggest the majority of those interested in football rarely see their team live. More people in the UK probably support the top 6 than the rest of the league.

  7. Perhaps. Think the thing that really riled me on this occasion is that they had a Liverpool supporting pundit on defending Liverpool and disrespecting Brighton. But there always seems to be the need for producers of these shows to have a bloody Liverpool supporting pundit/ex player on. They offer no great insight. They are usually really biased. And all they do is talk about Liverpool. But they repeatedly get used.

Just the general media love in of them I suppose. God I hope they don't win the league.

TBF Micky Quinn really is so one eyed - even more so than the average pundit!

He probably doesn't care about anyone else..

I think maybe your following of FC Barcelona has skewed your following of the Hornets. You keep mixing us up with them!

Perhaps the difference between you and i is that i accept our place in the football world. I accept we are not a big inner city club.. i accept we dont have the greatest footballing pedigree or the largest following.. and i accept the clubs that do will get the lions share of media coverage. If i was in control of the scheduling of MOTD for instance, i would absolutely place the clubs with the largest followings first. The Beeb might not have to bow to advertisers but they do have to justify viewing figures. Whatsmore people who work in media will never see football clubs as the supporters do. Do think they are really going to discuss how Watford fc didnt splash out in the summer when discussing every one of our performances on tv? No chance.. just like they didnt discuss how much we splashed out when we invested pretty heavily in the squad in previous seasons. The general footballing world arent interested in such things.. perhaps it shouldnt be that way but again i accept that it is.
I would repeat that we've had a good covering of positive stories from the media this season. There have been several threads started on this forum about pro wfc newspaper or internet articles, especially after the unbeaten start we had. Whenever i tune into MOTD.. normally after a decent performance.. they seem to have a small segment about the positive in our performance.
Ok we don't receive the same in depth coverage as the big clubs.. but you know what.. i like it that way.

Before the season started they said we were going down. So up and down is progress.

Well we are and so are all the teams in the middle. Hopefully he is wrong with the team who wins but it probably will be a 1.0 type of game.

Thing is, we're not "so up and down". That's a myth. So far this season, we've only had three results that have been worse than expected. The two Newcastle matches and Bournemouth at home. The rest have been on par or above expectation. That's only 3 poor results in 22 games.

I'd say we've been incredibly consistent.

You could say Spurs are up and down. They lost to us and at home to Wolves.

I guess it's fair to say we have been up & down league position wise (easy to do in Prem 2) results wise (great start.. not so good mid Sept to mid Dec.. good since) but, as pointed out above, we haven't been if it's results vs expected results.

All depends on your interpretation of "up & down"

My definition of "up & down" is......we're a bag of Revels.

I remember in the Aidy Premier league season we drew with Reading 0-0 at home (always one a season isn't there..?) and Lineker said something like "not sure why we are even showing this game"!

The BBC match report does give the game more credit than it probably should by saying both goalies made outstanding saves...

The disallowed goal gives them something to talk about.

Burnley are probably almost last most weeks...

The disallowed goal will give Dyche more air time to vent about officials and make MotD pundits sympathetic to Burnleys plight. Anyone there will no Dyche set his team up to be toxic today but there will be no focus on that now.

I watched it so you lot don’t have to:

The minute of highlights made us looked better than I recall.

Delbot looked at the lino rather than the ball for his miss.

Sema thinks his right leg is longer than it actually is.

Feminia’s good cross ended in a good shot by Deeney being saved.

Barns missed a sitter after being set up perfectly by Maps header.

There was a lingering shot of the ex-England keeper who did the shampoo advert. Nice to see Vydra in the background though.

    72 minutes and GT applause.

Dyche says that the world knows that the goal was onside and if VAR was the law it would have given them two more points.

Scouse presenter says the linesman got it wrong but fails to mention the foul on Cholevas. A freeze frame is shown, which clearly shows the striker’s hand is two fingers offside, and as Doucouré proved last season, a hand is an acceptable way of scoring. He also says that Heaton is great and Foster is too.

There was an awkward silence as they ran out of anything to say.

Lineker finishes by saying that Watford are consistent, Shearer and Murph agree ‘good season’

  31. Just discovered the sky 30 minute replays of all the games they show from around midnight.

Commentary but no post match analysis.

Pretty good and a load of match action.

    Good man.

Assuming it wasn’t a half ‘n halfer presented to him by Dyche.

To be honest, I felt that the MOTD. crew did very well, and made the game look more entertaining than it really was.
Also made Watford look better than they where.
Pity they did not show Burnley to look like the anti footballing side that they are, that just turn up to stop good footballing sides from playing, because they cant play creative football themselves.

It’s quite funny to see them struggle to come up with anything to say about us. Like it or not we really “just exist” at the moment from a media point of view. Neither that great to ensure a good game, or that bad to avoid showing each week. We are the very definition of a team which can already plan for next season and may produce the odd great game or result before the end of the season.

Our only hope of significant coverage for the remainder of the season is if we have a good cup run so that’ll be over by 5pm Saturday.
