At the expense of chucking away both cups, swiftly followed by defeats at home to Cardiff and Southampton. We were very lucky against Man City and to be fair, played a blinder against Chelsea. Not to bore on about it.... but he played three defensive midfielders in those games and it worked. He the started playing the same system, including low tempo keep ball at home to beatable opposition and lost. We never score at home, we keep going behind, the only game that’s generated an atmosphere this season was the Man City game. It’s just not an enjoyable experience at the minute.

I think it feels like that for all the teams in the middle (with "nothing" to play for). Players push themselves against top 6 then go on holiday against the beatable opposition and play like strangers.

Even though we're unbeaten in 7 we've still been blowing hot and cold, and were a little lucky to get draws in matches at home we may have expected to win. There was no atmosphere in our ground after the GT tribute yesterday, only constant singing was from Burnley

I’m probably guilty of wanting the moon on a stick to be honest, having had a taste of one amazing season. Everything feels a bit meh now, it would just be nice to see some entertaining football at the very least. I look at other teams like you, Bournemouth, Everton and while you’re just as inconsistent as us you do seem to entertain at home, Watford especially try to physically bully teams and I love to see that. We go into games knowing that there will be one goal in it either way and zero chance of us giving someone a really good beating. We used to do that all the time under Pearson in the Championship and people accepted that we were just inconsistent and flakey away from home because the home support were guaranteed goals.

A shame given we are top of our league & have a decent chance in the Cup.

For us, this is the best of all possible worlds.

Another disgraceful dive from Salah v Palace. No penalty but no booking either. Was a cheat Salah is. Vile.

While I’m no lover of Salah (and certainly not Liverpool), I don’t think he is any worse than the majority of forward players these days. You and I define a dive the old fashioned way, i.e. if you‘re not physically knocked over by the challenge then you’re diving, but players, referees, the media and younger fans don’t see it that way any more. “Contact and you’re entitled to go down” is the mantra and we can no longer fall back on the excuse that it’s only foreign players who do it. Salah is only following the trend because it is acceptable and helps his team.

Sadly I believe the advent of VAR will only confirm this acceptance of ‘diving’ because it will be ‘contact’ that is judged not the level of force.

Certainly, his ‘humble guy’ schtick has lost a little of its lustre.

    Fulham could be three up.
I hope they don't regret not scoring more than one.
    Is Babel colour blind?!

Harry did it for Spurs then..

Fulham summed up why they are at the bottom.

Ali injured for Spurs - probably won't matter in the league but they'll be short on players for their Champions league tie v Dortmund.

Hudson Odi to Bayern for 35 million?

Did he do much against us after coming on? - didn't think he did but guess its all about the potential.

I think he got subbed on early due to an injury and then was subbed off later himself.

He was completely anonymous against us.

Newcastle already 1 down v Man City !

    25 seconds .

Fulham 2-0 down v Brighton and Huddersfield a goal down to Everton (Richarlison)

  16. Big come back from Fulham - now leading 3-2.

And West Ham must hate playing 'W' teams - now losing to Wolves.

Blimey they'll love Rafa B even more now!

Hopefully Brighton are as sloppy in defence on Saturday!

Loads of goals around generally - defenders caught cold?

Certainly looking good for them - assuming they win tomorrow. Would be very "Liverpool" to lose to Leicester. A good night for Mr HH (a Liverpool fan) - City lose and he put £20 on Newcastle to beat them at 20-1.

Free drinks for us all on the forum from Mr HH?
After all, little Watford set up this famous victory by informing Benitez (secret phone call in Spanish!) we would play out reserves so he could do likewise.
    Mines a pint please. :)

Deeney's mate from the Bournemouth game is getting some right old stick by Wolves fans .

    And they won 3-0!

Maybe the Premier league is too much for Mr Cotte.

The general mood at Anfield seemed to flip from panic to a solemn acceptance that they had dropped a whopping two points at home the other night. Pathetic excuse making and players desperately chucking themselves on the floor every 20 seconds..... I really don’t think they’ll have it in their heads to hold out for the title. Same old story of too much emotion and not enough nerve. I think it works for teams when they’re chasing something but holding on to a lead is very different physiologically.

While the Sala situation is extremely sad, the grief Olympics that Cardiff and their fans appear to be engaging is difficult to stomach.

He never did anything for Cardiff and yet some of the fanbase is acting like their best friend died. It's all a bit maudlin.

It’s hard to criticise people for being sympathetic, but I do agree with you. This seems to be the way of the world these days.

The Celts tend to be more emotional.

Kelso is an interesting case study of what happens when a stout W Herts lad is transplanted to the Celtic Fringe.

It is a very sad episode, but I agree.
Did this all begin with the death of Diana? I suppose in her case she was known to the public at large.
    Interesting behaviour whatever the reason.

Not sure even the players met him but I guess its a sign of the times in a way - having to show as much public respect as possible.
