I must admit I only quickly counted through, and I certainly didn’t count Everton! Haha! But I think the point is still valid. If we were to win it in my lifetime it would be incredible...please let it happen football gods!!

Oldham and fun just don't seem to go together. Last time I went there we lost 3-1 I think, early nineties possibly, it pi55ed down all game while we were standing on that big open terrace they used to have. I have a vague recollection of a game of football on the grass behind the terrace at half time but I might be wrong on that

    Promotion year in Division 2?

Gibbs scored a rare goal and they managed to nick a point in the final minute.

Site would have done into meltdown had it been around!

Yes very open and windy. Worse than Grimsby's Blundell park though ????

Does that mean Wimbledon are in the big 6?

    For tennis tournaments definitely.

Do you think Success will "roll and fall in green" when we play in our away kit in the 4th round ?

Don't worry, it's ok, we won't be in the next round.

  14. The last time I was there we won 3-0. I don't remember an open terrace, just a rather large covered end which the locals erroneously thought was for their exclusive use. I was only nine at the time & went with my uncle who was a soldier home on leave and who took me into said covered end. Some yobs took exception to our presence and started mouthing off - then one of them foolishly decided to step a bit closer and poke his finger at my uncle. My uncle's response was so quick that I never saw it - and neither did the local yob, who ended up unconscious on the concrete.

His mates all backed away in an ever-increasing circle - my first experience of the ripple effect.

So it's always claimed.. though i doubt anyone has taken scientific temperature readings all around the country. I think it comes from the fact that Boundary Park is the 2nd highest ground above sea level and that away fans at least had to stand on that big old exposed terrace. BP is 526 feet above sea level btw. It's not like it's at the top of a hill though. I guess the ground just rises up gently to that height, as it does at The Hawthorns which is the highest ground above sea level at 552 feet. Vicarage Road is around the mid 30's highest at 222 feet. You'll find a full list here.. though it's a bit of an old one.. http://www.midfielddynamo.com/stadia/england_highest.htm

Would that have been 68? or Morrissey hatrick 73?
If it's the latter then believe it or not there is footage here on YT.. starting at 7.45

Great first goal scored at the covered home end where you might just spot yourself!

and then there's this from 82. Snow on the ground.. orange ball.. not many away fans.

  18. Thanks for that - unfortunately, it was the 1968 game that I was at. Love the footage though - first time I've ever seen it. That cross by Scully was an absolute gem.

    We're 7th highest.

    An omen?

Just ahead of City & Liverpool.

'Ooh, it gets dark, it gets lonely, On the other side from you'.

At first, I struggled with this but now it's clear. A plaintive message from Holebas (left back) to Kiko (right back).

Which is supported by: 'I'm coming back to his side, to put it right'. Holebas takes a corner, from the right hand side.

As a footnote, the 'dark' reference predates the new floodlights.

All very well, RD, but who is the man with the child in his eyes?

Given that he played alongside Pen last week, & presumably looked at him, I would guess Isaac.

And seeing as how she has cropped up in conversation, Kate Bush has beaten our forum record:

'Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Unbelievable!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Unbelievable!'

    Six (or arguably 12) Wows.

  23. Way higher than Scotland's highest, Airdrieonian's Excelsior Stadium - which is only 406 feet.

But at least it has a palindromic ground capacity. Not many can say that...

I particularly enjoyed the step over the windowsill accompanied with the sexually charged fistpump.

Adding a predatory element which Kate rather overlooked.

Newcastle / Benitez sound like they are throwing in the towel for the replay and picking a much weakened side (how can they tell?) in order to concentrate on their Prem survival...

Excellent - don't remember that and it must have been one of the few highlights for Watford fans around that time !

Forget the dreaming of Pen. We should play to our lionheart Troy's strengths and just go aerial into the big sky.

PS should I feel guilty about putting staff, who need to see me, off for 10 mintues while i finish browsing/posting on this forum ?

Thanks but I don't get that excited posting on this website. Well occasionally, but not in 12 seconds.
