I think we have to accept that different people have different takes on what constitutes a ‘big’ club. For some ‘big’= successful, so Bournemouth are ‘bigger’ than Sheffield Wednesday, but to me the size simply depends on potential, rather than actual, attendance at home games. So city-based teams will always be bigger than town-based ones. I appreciate this is an old-fashioned view and that there are several other possible measures.

By the way Leeds won the title in 1992.

Interested to know the sums involved of a small club versus a middle-sized club. The extra 10000-15000 bring in extra gate receipts, but how much extra does it cost with staff, security, insurance, policing and just running a larger, more elaborate stadium...I also wonder if its 'irreducible minimum' or 'economies of scale' or even 'the squeezed middle' ie, the super clubs and small clubs make the books balance?

We really need to win the fa Cup so those up the road are no longer bigger than us...

It is indeed but it is strangely addictive.
R5L was driving me potty with its banal presenters, especially since Peter Allen,Garvey and a few others departed. I found I only liked Nicky Campbell.
Most of it is unlistenable and Quinn,Parlour and Gough are blithering idiots but H&J are quick witted and I enjoy their programme.

I think its good for us to be underrated. Whenever we get hyped by the media we tend to go on a bad run. We haven't learnt to handle the pressure and expectation yet. However, i sense our mentality is getting stronger. JG says our mentality is to keep improving. I think he's totally right to say that.

Came past the training ground on the way home tonight, looks like a giant bouncy castle has appeared over the weekend. Guess it's a reward for the lads doing the double over Palace.

Sorry for the crap picture but was in a moving vehicle.

Word on street is that a helter skelter is planned if we can get the better of Burnley again this weekend.

That’s been there for a few weeks. It’s the indoor training facility.

The Hughes thing has been coming up a few times recently, but I’m not sure why.

Is it Gracia’s job to make sure that individuals are able to perform well and shine? Somewhat, though I’d argue it’s more his job to ensure that as a team we perform well. Which is exactly what is happening. Hughes might not be playing in his natural position, but he’s there because tactically he’s offering us what Javi wants. It’s a testament to his team ethic, that Will has been happy to sacrifice his own performances and maybe a little bit of what he’s doing best at for the sake of the team.

Might Gracia be able to play somebody in that position who is a more natural winger? Perhaps. That doesn’t mean the team would automatically see improved results though.

While Hughes may not have had the influence we’d like in attacking areas, I don’t think anybody could question his work ethic and competitive nature, both of which have helped us reach these fairly unprecedented heights. Bobby and Geri are the guys who are given most freedom to create and be unpredictable in their movement, while Hughes is asked to play a more disciplined role. That’s really all it is.

I do try and forget Parry!
I've never seen a picture of him and nor do I wish to,before anyone obliges, but he sounds a most unsightly man.
Talks like a plate of beans navigating its way through a cow's stomach too!

He is no oil painting. When I saw a picture for the first time, I would say he looked like another version of exactly what I was imagining, as in he didn't look like the person I had conjured in my head, but he does look like another version of the exact sam archetype having been grown in the same lab.

If you do ever feel like ripping the plaster off, search for his cinnamon challenge video on Youtube. A perfect illustration of Parry the man; utterly unfounded arrogance and delusional hubris almost immediately contradicted by the actual facts of the matter, all in delicious audiovisual form.
