Physique. Pace and power. Can make up for a lack of any footballing nowse for a while. The distraction of being paid a relative fortune for actually doing nothing. The problem remains. How can we get rid of him ? Who an earth would want him. A League Two club. Someone in the National League ? After his shambolic showing for Sunderland where Luke O'Nien is doing very well no one in their right mind in that division would touch him with a barge pole.
Would like to see him loaned to a Championship club, perhaps his game might be better suited there than L1. If not, the club should consider having him help out in the food kiosks & pulling pints at half time, to at least extract some value from him.
From the small amount I've seen of it, recruitment among teenage footballers has been criminally unsophisticated. The tall lads & the quick lads over there, the rest go home. As you say, when you're the fastest on the pitch, you can recover the majority of mistakes. When everyone is quick, you can't. Football intelligence makes the difference. If the scouts lack intelligence, maybe they are not the best placed to see it in others. It is interesting to see the approach of a more analytical club, Brentford. They gathered the data, ran the numbers... & closed their academy.
Yep, Brentford. Under Warburton they were close to the Prem. They got rid of him because he didn't buy into their data-driven recruitment, and since then they've been in the bottom half of the table. Data is important, but it needs to be combined with football instinct. Having one but not the other won't work in the modern game.
Them slipping down the league has also coincided with their technical director passing away at 28 I think
Slipping ever further down the football pyramid. Now going to Oxford United on loan it appears. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...n-as-he-heads-for-league-one-rivals-1-9568268
I think both his and Oulare's contracts expires in 2021. In my opinion the two worst signings we have made under the Pozzos.
Will be good for him to get some game time and come back fresh next season and hopefully try to push for a place in the squad.
Going to Holland apparently. Probably just another loan. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ll-be-on-loan-in-the-netherlands-next-season/
Think it's a clever move for club & player. Much better than him languishing in the lower leagues here. Dutch football is finally on the rise, their fans will be excited for no other reason other than he is ex Liverpool academy. All fans usually fall for that trap, a mistake usually made. Who knows, if he does ok we might eventually get back or near enough the 4m we paid. Transfer market has current value 1.5m. Makes our Nathan Ellington transfer look like a good deal.
The Dutch club may be VVV. https://sportnieuws.nl/voetbal/transfernieuws/vvv-huurt-engelse-spits-sinclair-watford/
Now official. https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/official-dutch-loan-sinclair https://www.vvv-venlo.nl/nl/vvv-venlo/nieuws/sinclair_nieuwe_aanvaller_vvv-venlo
I googled Venlo's stadium to get a sense of the club Jerome is being loaned to. Imagine my shock to see how closely it resembles you know where. He didn't deserve that.
I wonder if Pozzo will find the mental fortitude to release this waste of space when his contract runs out?
He seems to be able to rent him out on season long loans every year so he must be making some money out of him.
There was a young player at Cuffley and her brother was on our books as a youngster. Another coach colleague of mine went to watch him play and all his dad said throughout the game was " shoot John, shoot" from almost anywhere. He then went to Palace, then to a League 1 side and last I heard of him he was at St Albans City. Infact when we played them in a friendly a few years back City were angry as he had stayed in Spain or wherever, instead of returning for the game. The two children were quite talented but certainly in Amelia's case, lacked application, work ethic or awareness of standards required to achieve her potential. So much of sport is about a strong will, perhaps Jerome has not applied himself at a vital stage in his development?
