i've been doing Parkruns since last Nov, either Ricky or Cassiobury.

Any other 'Orns getting out on a Sat morning?

Being doing the Ricky park runs for a while now. Record turnout this morning, how everyone got round the first bend intact is a mystery. Started out in the lower 30's, now in the 26 to 27 minute range. New years day I started at the back on purpose as I wanted to have a light run, was quite good for the ego overtaking so many! Might have a go at the Cassiobury one soon. Usually seen in a Watford away or England top.

Yep been doing these around Reading/Bracknell way for a few months now and enjoying it. Christmas and forthcoming baby arrival have put it on hold for now. Would recommend it though as doing a bit of fitness at the weekend.

It's a decent way to start the weekend. My daughter is starting junior park run (2km) next month, she's keen to get started.

I've done the Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes ones a few times but they're too short for me and have to drive to them, so there's no point.

They are brilliant though, get so many people up and doing sport. Read somewhere that they had more impact on health and fitness in the UK than anything else.

I'm a headphones in, don't talk to people sort of runner, but the social side seems good for those that like it.

The LB one is a nice route, but having to drive to it defeats the object and getting away afterwards is a bugger. The Willen Lake one is decent.

At a party last night met a friend from Tring who does that particular one. She told me the first 1K is all uphill!

There are some hills in it, nothing major though apart from a quite steep downhill stretch. I usually avoid any run that is a number of laps and the LB parkrun is two laps of Rushmere but it is a lovely course.

I do my local Parkrun up here in Cleethorpes which gets around 200 people per week. Smashed my PB on Saturday so a good start to 2019.

Well done on the PB - do you mind sharing what it is?

I'm just interested so I know where I pitch myself against fellow 'Orns

My local one is Tring. It's not as hard as it used to be since they changed the route. Wendover is quite new and is tough. My PB is at a flat Aylesbury and is 19:35 although not an overall 5k PB.

19 minutes 24 seconds so good start to 2019 as beat my 10k time on NYD.

Blimey that's quick, fair play that's a great time

I started in mid-Nov at 34:03, and have whittled that down over the weeks to 29:03 (PB) in Cassiobury last weekend

Small world, I was only 90ish seconds in front of you at your first park run at Rickmansworth. Last week I was up for a good time, (for me), so started near the front, but if I'm not in the mood I'm happy to start last and see how it goes.

In an ideal world I'd like to be running at least three times per week, (including Park Run), but the dark nights and life are getting in the way. I'm going to try and do some miles down on the canal tomorrow morning.

:) I do look back to life before I had a daughter and going for a run did seem a whole lot easier back then..!
There is a WFC Forums Strava group if it is of any interest.
