Sage advice RD, thanks for the tip.
If it escalates to those levels and to be on the safe side, I’ll prewarn her I’m going to stick it in the mixer.

Would be a better gesture as hosts to allow us to keep all the takings. Every penny counts.

I think there is a good chance that the club will do that. I hope so anyway I feel like we owe you at a little bit for when we sent a development side and trialists to you in pre-season despite Woking expecting a stronger Watford team with first team players.

How much is that likely to be? Capacity around 7000? How much are tickets?

They certainly went a lot around that time. One of them does a lot of work for Chesham United I believe

Just realised I have seen WFC play well over 1,500 matches since Dec 1970, but Sunday will be the first time I have seen us play a competitive fixture away against a non-league club.

In fact in the 50 years since Jan 1969 we have only played away against non-league teams twice in the FA Cup, these ties were in consecutive rounds of the 1976-77 competition. (Hillingdon Borough and Northwich Victoria :()

I once saw us play a league game at Twerton Park, but this was during Bristol Rovers itinerant period.

I’d like us to play Traanmere again sone day. The poor mans Liverpool but holy hell do we play crap at Prenton Park or whatever it’s calked now.

We last played them on the 00/01 season away and lost 2-0. Ironically, this was after losing 3-1 at hone to Sheff Weds at home ending our 15 game unbeaten run.

Just want a bit of revenge that’s all...

It’s only 5800 for Sunday unfortunately, I’m assuming that’s due to numerous reasons that we haven’t had to deal with for quite some time!

Tickets were £20 adults and £10 for under 16’s. so let’s just say an average of £15 to make math a bit easier, as the non league club we already get 60% of that so wouldn’t leave much but every little helps.

Isn't it 45% for each club with 10% for the "pot"? or is that different when it's a non league club involved?

According to the beeb you are set to rake in around £500k from your fa cup run. So should we not donate our part of the gate money (£35k-50k) you've still done pretty well out of it. But yes, every little counts.

    Wow, Crabs, wow!

I’m similar vintage but a fraction of that total.

The great news is that you qualify for a free to Udinese.

Please send your passport details to Dux & game on.

I have no idea of the etiquette but it would be crass for us not to pass any takings back to Woking.

Seba Prodl’s monthly would make a massive difference to any non league club.

If there is a non league club then I’m fairly certain they get 60%. Not sure how the rest is split tbh

Oh and the 500k must be a number plucked from thin air. We haven’t made much over 100k for prize money so far and gate money won’t be much either.

When a non-league club is involved the split is 50% to them, 40% to the league club and 10% to the pool.

If having 5% of the gate money stolen doesn't drive the team on to victory tomorrow, I don't know what will.

I believe the boys are contemplating being even more generous and possibly letting you win the tie and have a little cup run. We'll find out their final decision on Sunday pm.

Ah I remember very well the days where we would count up exactly how much we were due from drawing Chelsea in the cup or whoever, now we don’t even know the rules (I certainly don’t anyway). It wasn’t even that long ago that we were hoping we would draw a massive club in the cup for a bit of income...

I assume there’s TV money as well, maybe more than the ticket sales themselves? But yeah you’d like to think the club will offer at least the ticket sales money

  18. £67,500 prize money to the winner (Woking will have accumulated ~£70k prize money already through the early rounds)
£144,000 each for being on TV
45% each gate receipts, say £50k each?
Booze, food, advertising, shirt sales, half and halfs etc to Woking, possibly another £50k?

Worst case scenario Woking earn ~£240k from the tie (plus £70k prize money banked to date)

I recall it is, or at least was, traditional for the big team to let the non league team keep gate receipts?

I'm in a similar position, this is also my first match at a non-league ground watching Watford. I did however join Grimsby fans in the Kenilworth Skip a few years ago when Luton were in the conference, with my Watford shirt on underneath my other clothes! Congratulations btw on reaching 1,500 matches! I did pass the 1,000 mark myself last season but didn't realise it at the time!

I'm also looking forward to standing on a terrace for the first time in ages, which got me wondering when was the last time I did that. I initially thought it was that bonkers 4-3 win at Peterborough in '94 but I now recall being away at Chesterfield, beating them 1-0 at their old ground, with Gifton Noel-Williams scoring near the end of the game. That was in '98, but it's the last I remember, there may have been others since!

So, two questions (and I appreciate the answer will be the same for some of you and that some of you will answer 'never' to Q.2!):

    1. When was the last time Watford played a competitive match at a ground with a terrace for away fans?

    2. When was the last time you personally stood on a terrace to watch Watford in a competitive match?

I think you might be working off old numbers there Ltc. New TV deal started in August.

It's £135,000 prize money for the winner this season (http://www.thefa.com/competitions/thefacup/more/prize-fund)

Then £150,000 each for being on TV (http://www.thefa.com/news/2018/dec/06/fa-cup-on-tv-third-round-061218), plus extra if it's live on radio too.

Plus, having now checked, I was wrong about gate receipts because I'd looked at last year's rules. There's no pool payment this season apparently, so it's 55/45 split in favour of the non-league club (http://www.thefa.com/-/media/thefacom-new/files/competitions/2018-19/fa-cup-rules-2018-19.ashx)

Not sure if there's been another one since but last away terrace I stood on was at Peterborough in the Zola season when Cassetti was sent off and we lost 3-2.

  23. So worst case Woking will be getting on towards £300k, plus £150k prize money banked to date.

My mate supports Torquay Utd, who are currently battling Woking for the automatic promotion place from the National League South (Oh how the mighty Torquay have fallen since they used to be regular rivals of ours in the lower divisions).

Anyway, whilst he assumes that we'll knock Woking out so they can "concentrate on the League" he wants us to break the legs(maybe a bit harsh there) of Greg Lure and Max Kretzchemer who apparently are their best players.

For me the answer to Q2 would be 13 April 2013 in the Championship away at Peterborough which is probably the answer to Q1 as well. Quite recently really, the first season of the Pozzo era.

Peterborough a couple of times. Before that Southend (a terrace I think?) and Colchester in the post-PL season under Boothroyd.

Yeah I think that's right. Bl**dy cold that day, we were in a pub garden keeping the beers cool by standing them in the snow on the table. Despite the score, (we got 2 late goals), it was a good day out on the terrace.

I guess the BBC have included what you'll make from Sunday's game.. but £500K seems excessive.
As you'll no doubt know the prize money doubled this season. As you came in at the 2nd qualifying round i made your prize money so far £139k.. http://www.thefa.com/competitions/thefacup/more/prize-fund
The TV money for 3rd round matches is £150k.. http://www.thefa.com/news/2018/dec/06/fa-cup-on-tv-third-round-061218
Cant see how you could make £211k from ticket sales. About half that i would have thought.. and that's if we give you our bit. £400k max i would guess at.

Btw i doubt you'd have made much more from gate money had you had drawn us away. I reckon the attendance wouldn't have been significantly higher than your sell out and we'd have charged less.

If that’s who he thinks our best players are then he knows nothing at all about us!!!

Looks like Max won’t be playing tomorrow’s anyway, did his hamstring on New Year’s Day.

Even brought Harry Kane on - the Spurs fans were outraged.

He of course went on to score..

We need to be on the front foot and attacking as not sure any set of defence that play will look comfortable against a side who will probably be very strong and useful at set plays etc.

As I say there is no doubt chances will come - just a case of taking them for Success and co.
