I think we have played both further East and South.

  3. The furthest south match was surely against New Zealand World Cup XI in Christchurch?

Which, come to think of it, is probably the furthest east too...

Reykjavik Select XI in 87. I think that must be the furthest North we have played.

Though that might well beat it!

    So that's north sorted.

East must be our match in Wellington against New Zealand World Cup XI? Ever so slightly further east than Auckland.

Is the Iceland match the furthest West?

    Unfortunately more research than knowledge!

Thanks for doing the quiz though, found it very interesting.

Well done on wrestling with lat/long, but don’t be fooled by the Mercator projection which makes places like Russia and Canada seem much larger than they are. Have a play on this site: www.thetruesize.com and be amazed at how big Africa really is.

Research doesn't get you far without at least some background knowledge.

I enjoy setting quizzes especially as i'm not working at the moment and it keeps the old grey matter ticking over. I'll do another one sometime soon.

I started off thinking it would be obvious just looking at Google maps as i wasnt expecting any of the places to be so close in lat & long. Soon found out that wasn't the case and i needed to look at maps with grid lines.. though didnt find any really good maps with them. Finally found out you can click on Google maps and it will give you lat & long of any given point. Could even click exactly on the site of a stadium.. or the hospital a player was born in if you could find that out :)
