Happy New year everyone! To get the old brain cells moving again after the festive period i've come up with a cunningly difficult wfc geographical quiz. There's only 3 questions but they get harder to answer with each question. Actually for the 3rd question i'm not sure i have the correct answers myself so i can double check the answers you come up with.

    1. Wfc have naturally had most manager that were born in England. But can you name which other nationalities our managers have been and how many managers we've had from those countries. That includes the home nations as being separate.
    2. On the world map what are the furthest compass points that we have played matches? ie which games have we played furthest North, South etc. I include all 1st team games + friendlies in this but not reserves youth etc.
    3. Similar question.. but which wfc players over the years were born at the compass extremes?

Good luck. You'll need it! or at least some skilled internet searching techniques.

What about Jay Demerit for furthest West?

Neil and Okon i believe are 2nd and 3rd furthest South but i'd be mighty impressed if anyone got the player born further South. A long way back.

3rd furthest West by my calculations.

We had a Canadian defender called Mark Watson who was born in Vancouver. Think that would be hard to beat going west...

Mark Watson furthest West? He's the only one I could get further west than Jay Demerit!

I'll not be getting the furthest south though!

Englishman who played for Wales :)

  20. As was Bill Findlay. Do McBain and Mackay both count as two as they both managed twice?

Got to be Canadian or born in Alaska then, surely? Only other Canadian born player I could remember was Elliot Godfrey but turns out he was born in Toronto on the other side of the country.

Sydney is further south, as are Pereyra, Britos and Forestieri off the top of my head

Long time ago :) I reckon you have all the managers now though so that questions answered.

Players.. Helguson North, Johnson East (i think) South is a player from the 50's.. and West, if my geography is correct was born in the US?

Miguel Layun was also born further west than Jay Demerit, though not as far west as Mark Watson.

Thought I had it with Espen Baardsen but not as far west according to the longitude

    Baardson?

Wow, there is a very random player born in California... but it's marginally to the east of Vancouver.

Edit: I was referring to Baardsen, didn't realise he'd already been named by Norniron

Ok ive got my geography wrong because i thought it was Espen Baardsen. The other player that was in the frame was Lars Melvang but he was born in Seattle which is further East than Vancouver.

You did say it was impossible

Question 2 - presumably one of the games we played in China on the 80s tour is further east - Beijing was it? Decent shout for furthest south too I'd have thought.
