    Three billboards, very good but
I am a simple man wanting a simple and definitive ending. Either she finds the rapist and kills him or she kills him but hes not the rapist or something. Not a journey off into the sunset.

Also loved Get Out, worth a watch because its different and although its all heavy on racism and black v white, its just a great film with some good acting and writing.
The ending here is satisfying with the quickfire killing of the family. And clunk, heavy ball round the head, and spike, deer antler in the neck.

Get Out is superb. Watched it on a flight to Canada last year and thought it was brilliant. Watched it again last month when it was on TV and it was even better. I wish I'd seen it in cinema though in an Imax. The music is so unsettling so it would've been brilliant.

Just watched Get Out as well. I’d scrolled past it numerous times because it said horror and I normally find horrors tedious. Saw a couple of mentions on here so gave it a watch and it is brilliant. Not really a horror in he traditional sense

Apparently this match was cursed and sure enough, on detailed research I was shocked to find that every single player, coach and referee involved has died!

Ditto, absolutely nothing. After my wife watched the first 2, I had an extremely pleasing following evening, this one not so much. Had to take the rope and gaffer tape back to B&Q for a refund.

I also watched Molly's Game last week at the lovely Rex cinema in Berko, a very pleasant film. Would recommend.

"The Death of Stalin" was pretty good. Iannucci made a pretty good effort at showing the ludicrous/terrifying/ruthless nature of Stalinist Russia. The mix of international actors playing the Praesidium also was a pretty good representation of how all the important players (from very different "republics") spoke Russian with very differing actors - although TBF (and more accurate) it should have shown them changing their accents to mimic whomever was in charge (at the time) - as when the Ukrainians (under Krushchev) took over all the nomenklatura started to ape the accent which my (Litho) wife always reckoned sounded like a Geordie speaking Russian.

Just watched this yesterday. Loved it, probably one of the best films I’ve seen in recent memory. I have to admit to googleing the plot explanation afterwards though, just to make sure I’d understood it correctly!

Annihilation was a very interesting watch - Alex Garland does seem to make very watchable films even this one with the "hopeless" acting abilities of Nathalie Portman.

  21. Probably a bit late to be suggesting this - but get yourself an Amazon fire TV stick and install Terrarium TV onto it. Unlimited films/tv shows, subscription free.

Solo: A Star Wars Story. Saw it last night with my littlest "...for father's day you're taking us to Star Wars..." and I have to say, I really enjoyed it - it's quite "violent" and [DREADED-WORD]"dark"[/DREADED-WORD] but it worked as a gold old-fashioned "romp".

Virtually all of the cast "worked" - although Emelia Clarke's character got a bit "****" towards the end. Woody Harlesdon's always a "value for money" performer but I would have liked to have seen more of Thandie Newton's very interesting character developed. The real surprise was the delectable Phoeb Waller-Bridge's "role" as "light/comic" relief that didn't fall into the trap of Jar-Jar Binks wakniness. Both Ehrenreich and Glover "nailed" their characters.

A very able cast and an engaging story-line SFX that actually added to the plot (nice mix of decent CGI and models/sets) an as you would expect it looked and sounded fantastic.

There's a nice reveal of a character that was sorely underused in the other films (no not him) and I actually hope that this is "the one" of the "Other Star Wars" films that would be developed into another series.

Went to see the latest Jurassic Park/World/Lost Kingdom film yesterday. Pretty much like every other Jurassic Park/World/Lost Kingdom films there have been. Better to see it on a big screen. Will stay with you for about zero seconds after it's finished.

I wonder if they use the tried & tested 'T.Rex comes from nowhere to snatch a smaller dinosaur closing in on a main character' scene?

Ah yes, they do. What a surprise.

A harmless, fairly enjoyable romp overall, setting up the next sequel very nicely. Not a patch on the original, but you knew that would be the case.

Watched the Alicia Vikander Lara Croft last night, and it got me wondering.

As someone who has very little interest in gaming, I'm only really aware of the famous titles - and one of the most famous was Lara Croft, equally renowned and ridiculed for her trademark enormous boobs.

The most immediately striking thing about this particular film portrayal of Lara is that she doesn't have ample breasts. Nowhere close.

I go online to see if anyone else has picked up on this oddity, and sure enough it turns out there's a massive argument about body shaming.

It's not often that I get caught between two arguments, but this really did the trick.

    My take?

If the film producers wanted to make a film about an athletic, small chested woman going on a quest to find an ancient tomb, then that's fine. Just don't call the character Lara Croft. It's like doing a film about Nigel Kennedy, only making him a pianist.

If the producers wanted to make a film about Lara Croft, but make her character more about her achievements than her cup size, brilliant. After all, as most of the defenders of the film argued, if **** are all that matter to you, just watch porn.

But why stop there? Why did they choose a quite obviously stunningly good looking woman to play the role? Why not a woman that could easily have been working in Asda petrol station?

It's always puzzled me that in any action film when the guy is on the phone to some female scientist (who can speak a dozen languages) and they arrange to meet up, you can guarantee that she's going to be off the scale gorgeous. Easily good-looking enough to have been a film star if the whole science thing hadn't worked out.

Why? Shouldn't believably plain girls be routinely represented on screen?

Is that any worse or better than casting a Lara with her trademark boobs? Why aren't people up in arms about the body shaming in practically every film on screen? What's so special about this one that it actually made the news?

  30. I grew up on the early Tomb Raider games. Each game used to take weeks to complete and more often than not needed the guide book bought down the market.

The latest games are might be light years ahead graphically but have somehow lost something, the puzzles seem like they are there for the same of it.

As for the movies... all of them are beyond awful. But at least Angelina Jolie had the right size boobs and an ar5e to die for.

Television/film makers have long learned that sex sells and they're in the business to make money.

Plain/ugly actors might be more realistic but the reality is no one is going to see a very plain actor and say "let's give that a shot".

Attractive actors are just about giving a book the best cover possible. The issue arises is when casting looks solely at appearance and devalues acting ability, which is where the US acting industry is currently residing (and is why so many talented UK actors are making a killing feigning American accents).

Because of the tek I've got I don't have access to the interactivity - what I get is 5'20" of Bandersnatch and last night I was mesmerised by the first90 mins of it: a fantastic mixture of horror and nostalgia. Fionn Whitehead's performance(s) so far has/have been flawless. I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to the 2nd tranche tonight and I'm looking forward to kicking the kids out to their grandparents on New Years Day so I can binge it in iot's entirety.

It's not just in film - it's also in the music industry where autotuning beautiful people is apparently an acceptable thing to do.

I really don't get it, but my question really was more why the producers of this particular film went with the casting choice they did, and why are people demonizing those that want Lara to have big boobs whilst ignoring the exact same trend in practically every other film?

I watched Holmes and Watson, and it is by far the worst movie I have ever seen in the cinema.

There were 15 people in the cinema at the start, and more than half left within the first 30 minutes. Only 6 people were there at the end.

Truly, a film beyond garbage. It is incredible that it was made at all, let alone released.

5 hours 20 minutes of Bandersnatch. It's compelling viewing but wow.

Shane you can't do the interactive part of it, feel like you'll lose the nods and winks if you rewatch it over and over.
