Anyone else going to be clocking on for Xmas Day?

    I'm working 07:00-11:30 and out again 18:00-22:00.

    Off on Boxing Day though!

Not for a few years now, but did in my previous job.

Actually didn't mind it. Managed to shift it to 5am and was done by lunchtime so was able to be with the family.
I quite like working weekends, bank holidays etc. Less people about to bother me and I can get more done. I still go in an hour early to sort stuff out.

Those without family sometimes actually prefer it. My local budgens used to open on Xmas and of course the catering and pub trades generally work as do of course the emergency services.

Many years back I often used to work Christmas Day with some people with learning disabilities. Always had a cracking time, a very warm atmosphere and in to work in record time with no commuter traffic.

I have worked in a homeless shelter in christmas day serving Christmas dinner a few times but, as terrible as this might sound, I jacked it in because you got barely any gratitude and people just moaned at you.

I agree. Our office is officially closed between xmas and new year and all UK staff take those days as holiday. Except me, as I refused to accept this and waste 3 days holiday in the damp, dull, cold boredom when I joined and so I work from home which at least gives me something to do.

I know what you mean, I spent 5 hours jet washing the patios and other areas at a local charity club in the summer, not only was I not offered a drink, no one came near me except to show me where the outside water supply was, I wasn't thanked and left feeling absolutely gutted as well as knackered!

Over the next few days they will also be considering holiday planning, gardening, watching Sky WFC highlights and a bit of painting as "work". I have a very broad job description. I may be FD but I very much see myself as an allrounder.

I don't technically work on Christmas right now (although I'm on call 24/7, so there's always a chance no matter what day of the year it is), but I used to in my late teens/early 20s and really enjoyed it.

They were always incredible busy days (so the time passed VERY quickly) and I made a LOT more money than usual. People were usually in good spirits too, which made it all the more pleasant.
