Spoke to a Brum fans who said this about JS.

"He played up until March then, we just didn't play him. We mainly used to play with just 1 striker up-top in Lukas and he did well for us initially, which is why we forked out £1m to Burnley for him.

We slapped him straight in the team, which IMO, was wrong. I would have let grow into the games through the subs bench. To be fair, we already had Lukas, The Don and Che Adams already. I don't think he was a neccessary signing.

If he was loaned to a League One or Two side, I'm sure he would've done very well. He's a decent gem of a player, but Zola was not a good manager to draw talent from people (2 wins from 22 games...).

He still has time, I hope he does well for himself."

Perhaps not such a bust as we think? I can't imagine Jerome Sinclair being the kind of player to do well as a lone striker.

Yeah, he's already possibly League 2 standard, according to some incredibly patient Brum fans. Who knows, in 3 years he could be ready to tear up League 1.

Britt was sent to the conference at his age. Britt was done right. Sent to Wealdstone, he smashed it so we brought him back. Sent him to Braintree, he smashed it so we brought him back. Sent him to Southend, smashed it. Sold to Peterborough, smashed it. Sold to Nottm Forest, smashed it.

Sinclair should spend a month or two in League 2. Wouldn't hurt him, maybe his ego.

    Hmmm. Close.

I would have gone with '...will teach him to arrive late in the box and sneak out the fire exit afterwards'.

One of our more disappointing prospects so far. Has shown nothing to me in any of his games or moves to suggest he can hack it at Premier League level. I would love for him to disappoint me but I cant see it happening.

Yet another player who wants the trappings of the footballer life without really giving it his all. A waste of talent.

It was obvious from the very first minute I saw him on the pitch that he was never going to make it.

    An absolute helmet.

Awful player. Going to be lucky to make a career of it in League Two.

  17. After watching both the Barnet and Salford cup matches recently, I'd say he would struggle in the National League.

Only if we get their best player coming the other way. They can also have Britos.

It never ceases to amaze me how the fortunes of football clubs fluctuate so rapidly.

Jordon Sinclair's career is going downhill fast, but he's on the fringes of the Sunderland first team, having been loaned from Watford. In any other decade that would probably mean he is doing well with his career leaving Watford for a much bigger club, but it's Watford who are the established Premier League club and Sunderland are the League One team.

It doesn't seem that long ago that Sunderland were the next step up the revolutionary ladder for Kevin Phillips. How times change.

Often I see players making short sighted moves "up."

E.g. they leave a team in the championship for a premier league side, then 8 months later the roles are reversed.

I'm sure the salary has a bearing but status is also important I'm sure.

Usually there is a premium paid for academy players from so called bigger clubs because it's harder for them to get into the first team. When they are out of contract & move on, the new club have to pay a 'development fee' for having gone through the academy.

Jerome's transfer to us was once such development fee of circa 4m in 2016. Puts it into perspective the value we got when we bought Quina for 1m in 2018.

L'pool had us over, possibly up there with one of the worst ever transfers in Pozzo/Watford history & unlikely we could even give JS away now. 100% total write off. At least we got a few goals out of The Duke.

Just because they came from a big club doesn't mean anything. If anything can be a red flag.

The mind boggle. 4m development fee for Sinclair. 100k compo for Jadon Sancho.

Nothing wrong with that. We are not a top 6 club, whereas City and Liverpool are. Those are the rules.

We got nearer £1m in the end for Sancho after the sell-on to Dortmund, which isn't bad for a 14yo.

With Sinclair we agreed the fee with Liverpool. It wasn't an automatic payment and so was really a traditional transfer fee rather than a development fee. I suspect we paid more up front to try to reduce the number/value of clauses in the deal based on future achievements. I suspect a tribunal would have come back with a lower up front fee for Sinclair. Plus Sinclair was 19yo so always going to command a higher fee than Sancho.

It was obvious from the outset that this transfer would be an abject failure. 99% of Jerome's are complete *****. It's basic science.

Jerome K Jerome was such an arse hole that the british army rejected him during WW1. Imagine how much of a toss pot someone must be when you aren't even considered good enough to be cannon fodder.

    Let that sink in.

It's mind boggling that the pozzo's sanctioned this transfer.

  35. How can a kid completely devoid of any football talent get employed by Liverpool, Watford, several loan clubs, and England U17s?
It’s got to be a wind up.
