Could have done with a scoreboard on Saturday.

Sadly I'd need another thumb over the 'childrens ticket' bit as well. Not many 50 year old kids of my well proportioned size around.

I note that Jimmy Savile's name has faded away from the programme - bit like all those Top of the Pops reruns that never seem to feature him..

  4. I think he was 'busy' at Stoke Mandeville hospital that day.

Born in 1970 I was a bit young for the charity match but did used to train there on Friday nights with Garston Boys . Usually couldn’t wait to get home because Aud Weidsesehn Pet was on .

I have a sneaky feeling it was followed by Minder . How about that for some quality nights viewing .

AWP was a great show, but it’s sobering to remember how long ago it was on. At the end of the series Jimmy Nail’s ‘Oz’ character was going home because Kevin Keegan had just joined Newcastle AS A PLAYER.

Jimmy Nail's album "Crocodile Shoes" is still widely available at multiple outlets - British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research, Salvation Army, Oxfam.....
