Leicester's Thai owner often flies in and out of the stadium by helicopter. I think at one of our matches we saw it land on the pitch pre-match before. Anyway, it's crashed tonight immediately after taking off and crashed into the King Power stadium car park. Looks pretty bad.

This was taken just before the crash. The Leicester owner was certainly on board.

It looks as though the owner and his son have died. This is unconfirmed right now though. Very sad news.

Perhaps not the time but I've always thought authorities allowing the helicopter on the pitch was ridiculous. Always looked dangerous to me when I saw it on the background on TV. I just don't see how its necessary and why they couldn't land in a nearby field and then a short car/limo ride or what not.

Regardless, this is terrible news and you have to keep everything crossed that the people on board somehow made a miraculous escape. However, the mortality rate in helicopter crashes is practically zero. This will send a few shockwaves through the PL I should expect.

It doesn't look good for anyone on board. I just hope that there was no one on the ground where it crashed. The fireball looks horrendous.

It's not been a good day for the world of football.

Although at this time casualties unconfirmed, however if the photo in the above post is true it's obviously very sad news condolences and commiserations to all involved and the players and fans of Leicester City F.C.

    Doesn't sound good at all.

So tragic and could have been even worse with fans around leaving the game .

Looks very bad indeed. Just rumours at the minute but it would seem Vichai was on board but the co owner, his son Top was not at the game. Eyewitnesses saying no ambulances have left the scene which obviously doesn’t bode well.

Terribly strange, heartbreaking really if Vichai has died. The city loves him and we owe him a lot. Painful waiting to hear something.

Yes...I've just spoken to someone who is there right now. His son is apparently in Thailand, so was not on board. Again, unconfirmed.

Half an hour earlier and a tradgedy could have been a catastrophe. Three sides of the land are fenced off around the ground so there’s a huge crowd outside after the games.

Every year the club commemorates Remembrance Day with a military helicopter landing in the centre circle and delivering the matchball two minutes before KO. I always slip into a day dream about how awful that would be if it went wrong with over 30,000 in a bowl surrounding it.

If there are fatalities, surely they'll have to cancel MOTD.

That won't happen. Although one would wonder if Lineker will be in the mood to present the show. The show will be on but I suspect the mood and chatter will be sombre. I'm certain Jake Humphrey will be happy to get home and into his families arms tonight - what a tough day for the poor guy who did a thoroughly professional job in such difficult circumstances.

Although unlikely, it wouldn't shock me if next week's games were postponed out of respect. Leicester City will certainly be in no position to concentrate on a match.

The helicopter hit the staff carpark, considering that it was 45 minutes after the match I would be surprised if there wasn't casualties on the ground.

The programme is recorded about 2 hours before it's broadcast.

Always? Because I'm sure when 'news events' have happened late into Saturday before, they've almost always been referenced in some capacity? Although I'm sure they can just edit a short bit in I guess. Would be very surprised if it's not mentioned.

Bearing in mind the programme is 90 minutes long, and the odd retake at the end means it's probably only completed not long before the broadcast, note that the pundits are only on for about a third of the programme, they would have watched the editted highlights earlier.

Not showing Leicester highlights out of respect perhaps?

Don't think so, this is the deleted tweet. THe responses were recommending they cancel.

They shouldn’t cancel it. Football is escapism, we need nice things to take our minds away from the **** things life throws up.

Some really tragic **** has happened today here, in America, in and out of the world of football. I think people should be able to have a nice beer and watch the footy. It’s not distasteful at all, life goes on for the rest of us.

Some ******* loser has made a fake account claiming to be a journalist has tweeted a list of names, such as the club’s sporting director John Rudkin, with a description of the injuries that killed them.

How sad is that? Twitter never ceases to amaze me.

Well Ben Jacobs, a blue tick ESPN journo and City fan has tweeted that he’s spoken to a contact from King Power and Vichai was on board. They’ll make a statement tomorrow.

Just gutted. What a weird night.
