A great season so far for Watford. Some of the most sumptuous football played by the team in it's history capped by a glorious forty five minute spell against Wolverhampton Wanderers that would make any football connoisseur purr with delight.

The team has internationals left, right and centre playing for the likes of Argentina and England and a glowing future with the number of stellar prospects brought in by the regime from far and wide thanks to that scouting network.

Add a ball playing reader of a centreback and another technical striker upfront and we have the makings of a top six team. Our midfield is superlative and the revelation this season has to be Etienne Capoue.

Gone is the inconsistency replaced by a fierce determination evident even in the defeat against Bournemouth. He runs that midfield at the moment with vital interceptions, breaking up play before setting everyone else in motion.

Pereyra has been outstanding when he has the ball always making things happen and doing his duties defensively as well and Delofeu is not even match sharp or fit but already looking dangerous. The only concern with him is that he still dwells on the ball a little bit long.

    Star turns this season:

After that effort against Wolverhampton surely Gracia will be tempted to field an unchanged line up ? Kabasele may need a wake up call by being left on the bench as his recent performances have been a little lackadaisical. Other than that I see no reason to change.

Huddersfield Town on the other hand are struggling. They invested heavily in the summer but their biggest signing in more ways than one Terence Kongolo remains injured. Perhaps they went too much for young players. Diakhaby has failed to spark into life the attack, Mounie our former target has been wasteful and Depoitre is a workmanlike player but not much more. They could certainly do with having players from their illustrious past back like winger Billy Smith and more life from fullback a la Ray Wilson.

Former Huddersfield Town legends Billy Smith (left) and Ray Wilson (right):

Perhaps Wagner has been too defensive but one has to look at the tough start they had to the season being spanked by Chelsea and Manchester City. They have earned creditable draws against Burnley and Everton and showed against a pretty complacent Liverpool that they can pose a real threat. Former Hornet Jonathan Hogg has been in good form and if we think we can just turn up next Saturday and take three points then we are much mistaken.

Moving the ball and point of attack, width as against Wolverhampton will be crucial and making sure Mooy is neutralized. If we do that I can see only one result.

In the words of Towns most famous fan ''Make it so Javi'.

A reminder of what we would like to see on Saturday. Not last seasons Silva inspired debacle.

Dreading this one. Obviously they are crap, play terrible football and are in dreadful form but... I can't get past the fact that last season when they were equally crap:

    They took six points from us;
    They got 16% of their total points from two games against us, and scored 18% of all their goals against us;
    Tom Ince scored a last minute winner;
They hadn't scored an away goal for eight games before we rolled over for them at the Vic.

I wish they'd won at least one game this season, we are prime candidates to let them break their duck, even though not a single one of their players would make our bench.

Huddersfield aren't crap. They might have had some crap results, but that isn't necessarily the same thing at all.

They could easily have got at least a draw v Liverpool, playing some really nice stuff.

They've not won any of their opening 9 matches. That worries me, as that run is bound to come to an end at some point.

They battled well against Liverpool and I'd say they are a much better side than the table would suggest.

I got a feeling we might get a Michael Oliver horror show and he could be in line for this game.

Having said that, if we play as well as we can, we should be able to win this one, all being equal.

Our last two home matches have not been good, so I'm hoping the players will put in a performance to send the fans home happy.

That’s the worry, they have to win at some point the same way Wolves had to lose at some point.

That said play to our ability and we beat them, simple as that, play like we did against Muff however and we lose easily.

They are crap though. They somehow got promoted despite having negative goal difference, then scored a measly 28 goals last season and finished with goal difference of minus 30. They've scored four goals in nine games this season.

They were plucky yesterday against a second string Liverpool team who still should've put them to the sword and never had to get out of second gear. There was no nice stuff played, it was all very earnest and they tried hard but other than trying to get it wide and sling it in the mixer there wasn't anything else to their game plan.

Don't get me wrong, they've done amazingly well to get promoted and then stay up with such a poor squad. A triumph of a team punching above its weight and a safety first manager who can extract maximum value from rubbish players. They are genuinely dreadful though, which will make it all the worse when they beat us next weekend.

Play to our ability and they have no chance.

Rock up thinking the game has already been won before kick off and we have no chance.

I’ve gone for us to win by 3 or more because I don’t think Javi will let another Bournemouth happen again for the remainder of the season.

I know he is all smiles but you got the sense during the build up to the wolves game their was the hairdryer treatment.

I just can’t see Javi wanting us to get beat like that again, especially at home again. I think Javi will get our boys up for this and we will win.

    Ha.
Exactly the attitude that makes me worry, and if Javi doesn’t get into the their heads, the players will be thinking the same.

They were no hopers, cloggers, ripe for the taking, EPL babies, easy 3 points last season.
    That went well.

Score early, we should beat them with comfort.
    I hope they stay up.
    But not at our expense.
One thing for sure, they won’t make it easy.

    2-0

Apart from the Bournemouth shambles we have performed at a consistently high level all season so nothing to suggest anything but a home win on Saturday. In fact, I can only see wins coming from our next 3 games before everything is put on hold for the next international break bore-athon

This has draw written all over it.

Haven't you worked it out yet?

Watford collapse when you're sure it can't be anything other than a win after the last scintillating performance & conversely will then go on to put on a Barcelona-esque performance against pretty much anyone in the league after losing 4-0 the previous week to some crappy team like Bournemouth.

In other news have to say our Nigerian Super Eagles away kit has grown somewhat in appeal.

A liverpool side with Alisson, Gomez, Van Dyke, Lovren, Robertson, Shaquiri, Henderson, Milner, Salah and Sturridge in the starting eleven is not second string.

Why would you claim that it is?

Huddersfield got an excellent 81 points and won the play off - that's how they 'somehow' got promoted, and they got only four points less than us last season, which is how they stayed up.

'Getting the ball out wide and slinging it in the mixer' is a fairly standard idea, employed by every great team ever. Only it usually isn't described that way when it's Real Madrid or Man Utd - then it's 'pin point delivery from wide positions'.

They've hit the woodwork about five or six times this season, so there is more than an element of bad luck there.

All in all, not the strongest side we'll face this season, but far from the crap you make them out to be.

Ok, second string attack then if that makes you feel better. I'd bite your hand off for us not to face Firmino and Mane when we play Liverpool. And no Keita either. And Lovren playing.

I know how they got promoted, but if you don't think it's slightly incredible that they finished fifth with a negative goal difference then you've missed the point. We were absolutely dreadful for over half a season and still finished comfortably above them so can't see how you think that's a plus for them either.

Slinging it in the mixer hasn't been a tactic employed by top teams for quite some time now, I'm amazed anyone could watch modern football and think it is. And so what if they've hit the woodwork a few times? We haven't hit it at all, should we be lower down the table?

They are a dreadful Premier League team that play rubbish football. Well done them for getting where they are doing that, it's an impressive achievement. But we don't have to tiptoe around it - crap players, crap football. They've won one out of the last 19 Premier League games - one win in the equivalent of half a season of games. If that's not a crap Premier League team, I don't know what is.

After winning at Wolves, we're back to the Vic,
Hosting a team just as brutish as thick.

They'll huff and they'll puff - preying for luckiness -
Let's hope that our skill is a match for their pluckiness.

Play as against Wolverhampton, we'll treat them like fools,
Passing around their attempted rucks and their mauls.

With so many unknowns, about only one thing I'm sure,
We'll "go again": win, lose or draw.

I've watched a few of their matches this season, and my impression isn't that of a crap side playing rubbish football.

This is backed up by their forum members bemoaning bad luck and targetting 15 points from their upcoming 9 fixtures - people that watch them week in, week out.

Funnily enough, I thought they were one of the best sides to come to the Vic last season - only the two Manc clubs impressed me more. Tactically spot on, energetic, extremely hard working, could have won by even more. Why they couldn't play like that more often I don't know - ultimately it was about surviving and most other games they were grinding out results without being pretty (the reverse fixture was a case in point).
