If he backs up his talent and ends the season with 10-12 goals and a few assists then we are probably f**ked, because his general quality is clear to see.

Great thought and tactics from Garcia to make so many changes 2 enforced and 2 his choice!

All of the players on the pitch played their part, didn't stop working all afternoon, very well deserved three points, looking forward to next week, please keep the same team (even with Mapps in he deserves it)

Superb team performance. Passing was sublime. Some of the best triangles in the league!

Cue Gracia's new deal finally being signed off this week.

Pretty sure the club were delaying that, just in case the bad run continued..

I wouldn’t worry. Man City would need to break the bank to get him away from Watford. He clearly loves his football here.

I wasn't expecting that. I thought this would be a certain defeat. That was the best display of the season by far. It was actually a 90 minute performance and could have been an even bigger margin of victory.

Capoue's goal was a terrific strike, and Bobby's looked a like a superb finish, although he may have shinned it and that's why it went in high. I need to see it again.

That performance from Capoue will probably win him the Display of the Season award. He will probably win the PotS as well if his form continues like this.

I was losing a bit of faith after that Bournemouth disaster, but we're firmly back on track. Not just the result but a performance to match.

We've now completed what I thought was a difficult run of matches. 2 wins, a draw and 3 defeats. 7 points from those 6 is not fantastic, but considering the level of difficulty, I'd take that for sure.

As I blamed the size defeat last time out to Gracia, I will say he got it spot on today. The win is down to a superbly executed game plan He picked the right team and formation. Gracia's new contract can now be taken out of the locked drawer and given to him to sign ;)

A sunny October day, 3 points, 7th in the league, a plus GD again...…...all is well in Hertfordshire once more.

  7. Outstanding 1st half, professional 2nd.

Being able to play Success as a lone striker allows us to us to overload other areas of the pitch, Pereyra Hughes and Delafoo are so good to watch, all incredible footballers so talented. Capoo having a brilliant season too.

Lets hope Gracia doesn't revert to a front 2. He got it right today and got the substitutions right as well. 3 CBs was a spot on call to respond to Wolves trying the overload wide.

As for Wolves, don't see what all the fuss is about. Nothing special, we out footballed them.

Three points always makes for a happy weekend.
Especially when unexpected - I confess before the start I would have settled for a draw

Hopefully we go and batter Huddersfield next weekend. That is a game you do expect us to be winning at home.

He most definitely did not shin it, he curled it round the keeper with the outside of his boot. A sublime finish.

A friend of mine is insisting Deeney should come straight back in. I honestly think it would be madness. Sometimes it feels like people think Deeney has to or should play just because he is Deeney. After that performance today none of the attacking players should be changed.

Presumably he's our equivalent of Shaqiri. Just has to decide if he wants to be one of the main men here or be a rotation pick at best at a big club. He's already had a taste of the latter with Juve so, relegation aside, I hope he wants to stay.

Superb performance today. Bit of a nothing game and we looked nervy until the first goal but after that some of the football was sublime. They came out and stepped it up after the break but didn't really create much and we were comfortable throughout.

Masina was good, he's great in the air and clever on the ball. Struggled a bit against their pace but won't face that every week.
Kiko defended very well until he got tired at the end and couldn't get there to stop crosses coming in. He's so comfortable on the ball - him, Hughes, Deulofeu and Pereyra can all receive the ball when marked tightly and still use it, which means our attacks don't stall so much.
Mariappa and Cathcart solid all game, good positioning and unfussy defending.
Pereyra was heroic, worked very hard off the ball and that last ditch tackle was almost as important as his ridiculously classy finish for the goal.
Success is in the box seat if we stick with this formation. Far better lone striker than the other two. Bit of a wild finish from his only chance but knitted the play together so much better and offers a threat in behind, can dribble too.
Deulofeu good too, holds onto the ball too long but gets between the lines and causes panic when he runs with it.
Javi nailed it today, the momentum had switched but without them really threatening us. Subs were good, as was the way we killed the game.

And finally... Capoue. What a season he's having, the positioning and reading of the game has gone up several levels, as his stamina as he used to flag about 70 minutes every game. Gracia has given him a very specific role and he is nailing it. He is breaking up play so, so well and using the ball very intelligently. Player of the Season so far by a country mile.

To be fair to Deeney in a game like the Spurs game he was exactly what we needed and we wouldn’t have won without him. Today he would’ve been the last thing we’d needed. There will be games when he’ll be a benefit but certainly not all of them.

  16. For me Success has got everything to be our best striker by a margin. Just needs experience.

Yup, Success has Deeneys strength, Grays pace and the technique and dribbling skills that neither of them have.

He needs a run of games to see if his finishing is high enough quality and consistent enough.

His footballing intelligence seems to have improved. The pass he made for Doucoures missed chance was perfectly timed and weighted.

That is how you bounce back from a bad result. Even though the usual starting XI have been good, it was satisfyingly nice to see others come in and put in a performance. Capoue (what a man) & Doucoure made Neves and, in particular, Moutinho look so poor it was brilliant to watch.

Bring on the next three games!

Deeney is surely one of the clubs most impossible questions.

He seems to both help & hold back the team in equal measure.

Posted here a fortnight ago that the Bournemouth result was one of those freaks you occasionally get in the Prem and that before much longer we’d return the favour to somebody else. It shouldn’t trigger any panic from anybody.

About the first and only thing I’ve got right this season lol.

A great bounce back today against in-form opponents and with so many enforced changes to our line-up. As HB1 just said, a real 90 minutes performance today rather than the customary one good, one bad half.

In all my many years of supporting us, I struggle to remember a time when we had a better set of midfielders. On days like today when our defence holds firm and our strikers don’t let anybody down, we really look the complete package. Well coached and set up too.

Avoid a banana skin next Saturday and we could be sitting with 6 wins from our opening 10. Happy times indeed.

I too thought this based on the game, but bbc final score pointed me in the right direction. We just out did them in the physical aspects of the game.

Deeney would've been the perfect option to bring on at 75 minutes and 2 nil up today. But no the starting 11 was great and deserves not to be displaced based in reputations.

As the first half drew towards a close, I was thinking "we look like a proper Premier league team here". I don't often say that. Moreover , it was the same for 80+ % of the match. I enjoy games like that more than the occasional barnstorming performance.

What an important result that was after the last few weeks, and a brilliant performance. Foster was barely troubled all game.

I hope we keep the same starters next week. Huddersfield will be a very tough game, but we do not need to make changes. Success and Deulofeu did well, Mariappa was solid and Masina had a good game. I was particularly pleased for Masina as he looked like a rabbit in the headlights against Spurs, but he looked pretty calm and capable today. We certainly don't need to bring Deeney or Gray back.

I think we have the makings of a really good squad, we just need a proper goalscorer.

PS, I think we should go for Gabbiadini in January. He is a real goal threat, but is going through a terrible time at Southampton. I think he'd fit in really well with us and would knock 'em in..

I was thinking the same. We’ve had to endure years and years of teams filled with hopeless cloggers, with the ball repeatedly being launched into orbit at the mere sniff of pressure from an opposition player.

Almost to a man we’ve now got a team of players who are so comfortable on the ball, that can bring the ball under control with ease and play a simple pass under pressure. We don’t hopelessly launch the ball forward, we play nice comfortable triangles instead.

It’s really a joy to behold.

Great superb play , I absolutely new if ex Everton guy played we would be great , even with just two weeks full training.

Only improvement on this team I see I’d Chalobah for Doucoure some times .

And Bringing Back Kabaselle for maps ....

Actually Holibas would be better choise than masina , with those dangerous crosses, I think we would be close to the best Watford team ever , bar the 1980s....

Glad to hear Masina played well as I thought he had an awful game against Spurs!

    Fantastic result!
