Anyone else noticed that we seem to just have 10-15 minute spells in games where we completely up the tempo and win the game in that period? I'd be interested to know the stats around how close together our goals have been.
Hughes has made the joint highest number of tackles in the league so far this season. Fair to say he does his fair share of dirty work.
Spurs - Deeney (69'minutes) - Cathcart (76'minutes Difference: 7mins Palace - Pereyra (53'minutes), - Holebas (71'minutes) Difference: 18mins Burnley - Gray (3'minutes), - Deeney (48'minutes), - Hughes (51'minutes) (Minimum) Difference: 3mins Brighton - Pereyra (35'minutes, 54'minutes) Difference: 19mins Average 11.75mins
I thought Cathcarts challange to take the ball from between two spurs players which resulted in watford possession and the free for the first goal was very brave and sums up the fight in the team at the moment.
Yep! Pretty spot on. I'd be interested to know the general trend of when goals are scored in relation to eachother too (I'm not going to work it out, though..)
Good match report here, interesting to see how a neutral journalist saw it. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...y-cathcart-goal-doucoure-latest-a8519716.html
Great to see SEJ there elebrating the win. Fist pumping and his boys in Watford shirts hugging him and seemed just as excited. On 5live Chris ‘Watford are going down’ Sutton said ‘Deeney for England’ because he’s in form which Wellbeck isn’t. Even some pundits are changing, and Troy said in interview lazy pundits should come to Watford and see for themselves what’s happening at the club. Favourite moment of first half - our star assists man Holebas kicking a water bottle over a cameraman in anger when he miscontrolled an overhead ball. Pure passion to get it right. That’s my boy.
Fewer than 28. Fact. Spurs fans thought it was a foul and typical of the anti-spurs bias of match officials. ****s
Don't know if this has been said already, Renieri has been at VR for the last two games. Proof if ever you need it he's been taken on as the clubs psychology coach to instil that winning mentality that will win you this league.
But burnley went from being a bit **** to europe with no gradual build up. We have been building for a few seasons now
Keep Javi on his toes. I suspect that if we don’t go top in our next game Ranieri will be named as head coach.
Wow, what a result that was, I don't think I've seen us beat Spurs in person but it was worth the wait. Stadium was rocking,. Game changed when Spurs took the lead, that was their first mistake, we started to push them and just kept increasing the pressure till they cracked. Reminded me of the win against Arsenal last season. Well done to the manager as well, it would have been very easy to look at this match and drop a striker for a midfielder to try and fill the midfield area. But he didn't and strikers repaid him. Onward and upward as they say
Totally agree with that. It was the best demonstration of “we can do this” the captain could have made. Troy deserves a great deal of credit tonight. He’s trimmer, fitter, hungry again and he is showing his leadership qualities by example.
That was great. The cameraman was seriously annoyed and it looked like lucozade so probably sticky stuff all over him and his camera.
Bet 365 were still offering 500/1 after the game. Stuck a cheeky fiver on but it wouldn't let me bet more..
Only 2nd on MOTD. Probably because Man Utd beating Burnley was a bigger surprise than Watford beating Spurs
Has anyone mentioned that Vorm took a goal kick that he put out for a corner? Passed it to where he thought his defender was only to see it roll out for a corner. Never seen anything so amateur in 28 years of watching football.
Another small thing, but well done to Watford for turning the music off and letting us enjoy the atmosphere at the end.
Absolutely this, was also great to have Rene Gilmartin on the 3CR commentary today. He sounded as happy about beating Spurs as I feel this evening.
