And he scored 2 more in his second match today... (jump to 1:50) Having looked at all the stories I could find about our supposed deal with him, some phrasing stated that it's happening in January because Besiktas would have only been due a chunk of the fee from Benfica if he was sold in the summer. It still seems pretty bizarre, but then I guess this way everyone is kind of happy (except for Besiktas) - Benfica get the full transfer fee, plus no doubt a tasty loan fee from Guangzhou, Talisca gets paid a bucket-load extra dosh to d1ck on a pi55-poor league for 6 months, and we get a top prospect who maybe other bigger clubs weren't willing to wait for. Fingers crossed.
Definitely has a sweet left foot. His second goal in the last game was superb. Obviously this could be a load of horse dung but definitely fits the Pozzo model so we will see what happens in January.
Here’s the talk of the ‘Pozzo model’ again... Surely if we signed this player for £20m in the hope of him being decent and then moving on for £50m that’s the same as all clubs our size do with players? I really don’t see how it’s any more unique.
Unless the ‘Pozzo Model’ is to sign 1537 attacking midfielders. Then yes, he fits the model perfectly...
The model as I understand it only really refers to the young foreign players we sign and loan out, not those signed for the first team squad. We're still pretty unique for a club of our size to have all these 18-22 year olds out on loan that have been bought from all corners of the world and will probably never play for us. The "model" is to hope one or two come good and we can make a massive profit and use a small bit to keep the scouting going another few years. Our first team signings are indistinguishable from most other teams, and are quite often baffling. There's obviously been a move to signing younger players last couple of seasons but that's about it as far as any grand transfer plan goes.
Was this rumour ever confirmed anywhere - http://sportwitness.co.uk/new-twist-claims-watford-agreement-place-sign-brazilian-attacker/ Could this be why we're not signing a striker?
Praise doesn't come higher than that. McG left Northampton Town in Jan 2018 and hasn't played since per Wiki. At the age of 29. Perhaps we should sign him up in this loan window as midfield cover ? I'm sure he'd be quick to tell you he has the class to be a premiership player.
I’m a bit lost on this thread and life generally. Is there any real likelihood that we might get this chap?
Sport Witness know their onions, I don't see how anyone can doubt this. I'm fully expecting to see him form a great partnership up front with Alcacer in January with the odd assist coming from De Souza
I think the perceived Pozzo model is that we sign them for one, five, ten or 20 million when they are already worth considerably more. Unlike many others, who sign them for 15, 20 or 25 million when they are already worth considerably less. Chalobah, Hughes, Deolefeu, Quina for example. It can't work every time, but when it does it is very satisfying. Looks like they've done it again with Talisca maybe. I think it is a pretty good model. It certainly seems to be a regularly effective one.
