We won't get to 36 and 36 wouldn't be enough. It has been commented that the points needed will be lower this year as so many are involved but i think that will actually push it higher. There are literally no rank hopeless cases this year with the bottom clubs frequently winning against top teams to climb off the bottom. Its going to be a sprint to the line for a number of clubs inc many that are well established in this league. May even be higher than 40 as it was once before (42 when WHU went down ?).
Well yeah, that's what I was referring to quoting Keighley's post, that 10 0-0 draws would put us on 36, which is not enough points!
That season had west brom on 26, sunderland on 19, teams are already on track to beat that. This logic that the threshold will be extra high seems counter-intuitive to me. There are a finite number of points to be distributed around the teams, so if all the teams are picking up points, surely the threshold for relegation will be lower?
Someone talking sense, with actual mathematic theory behind their response! who would have thought it.
I was probably being generous with 36. But I agree with jw. The more equal the teams below are, the more they will each take points off each other. I suspect 38 will be OK. Still looks a long way off though (and probably longer after tonight).
No, just more squashed up at the bottom. Take the top 6 out and the rest of the points will be distributed far more evenly than usual with none cast adrift at the bottom.
Which means a lower survival points barrier because 17th - 12th will accumulate fewer points than usual against 18th to 20th. Edit: put it this way if 19th and 20th place scored zero points would you expect 17th to need a higher or lower number of points that usual?

It makes no impact as depends on rest of the table. What does make a difference is the number of draws across the season in the division, as only 2 points in total gained for each draw vs 3 if someone wins
Not fit enough for 65 minute journey to Fulham. Could have only gone on loan to Arsenal as its next door as he's not fully 'journey fit'.
The win v draw is the same argument. Both scenarios lead to more or less “expected” points being generated by the 3rd bottom team.
Luther would probably do a better job than our current bunch if he put his boots back on even at his age.
Finally happening? https://www.90min.com/posts/6123862...o-sign-wantaway-watford-striker-stefano-okaka
I'm just enjoying the Microsoft powered translation of this tweet from Turkish paper Fanatik, who broke the story earlier. As far as I can make out, a 28 year old footballer wearing a shirt has entered the final flat in Watford (currently belonging to the green team - stewards?) at the signing stage. A crocodile with the yearly fee will also come after he agreed to the signature. From that it's obvious the newspaper knows nothing of the flat building magnitude which is currently enveloping our town. There will NEVER be a final flat! By crocodile do they mean a 'crock', as in one of our injured players?! Uncle Tom Cleverley is going too is he?? And they also don't realise it's over 50ºC in the shade over here and I've not seen anyone wear a shirt for the last 3 weeks.
Thank god for that. Now get rid of Sinclair too and we're getting somewhere with removing the dead wood.
Nature guides in Greece weren't convinced when I advised them that the "Lesser spotted Eagle" they were watching was in fact a "Fewer spotted eagle"
Not so sure about the minted bit, but we might add a little to the coffers if we can actually persuade anyone to buy any of our dead wood.
Yes same with anything in life, if you have the funds you can buy anything you want, try selling it is a different matter!
Wanted by another team, this time from La Liga. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...fano-okaka-a-reported-real-valladolid-target/ Big question is would he pass a medical!?
