Starts with short English names before switching into long foreign ones. Ben Foster takes us back to that golden age of warm beer, maiden aunts bicycling through the village green & tuning into the radio at 6pm to hear the score in the War.

Underwhelming signing. 35 years old old man. Cudnt the Pozzo network said to be so good find a competent goalie in the world 5/6 years younger?
Why? He is a very good keeper that will allow the young Swedish keeper a chance to settle. Makes perfect sense
Will buy us some time and hopefully allow us to spend the money where it is needed elsewhere in the team eg upfront.
I'm sure the Pozzo Global Scouting Network TM will be monitoring a few. Probably from Paraguay & Colombia to beat the Big Boys to the signature.
Gomes was continually getting in the Top 3 for Player of The Season when he was 34-36yrs old. There’s still some rumours from Seville media that we are in for Sergio Rico although I don’t know how true that is. But if it’s not, I’d say the clear idea is to have Foster be No.1 and have Dahlberg come through to succeed him - and if he’s as good as being said, that seems a sound plan. To me, for what we need, Foster is the perfect signing.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...e-4m-fee-West-Brom-goalkeeper-Ben-Foster.html £4m Fee agreed. Little much for what I'd pay but he's still a quality keeper who knows the club. Could be better, could be worse if we're planning in having Dahlberg be our long term keeper. Feel West Brom got the better deal.
I'm happy paying £4m for Big Ben, that sort of money is chicken feed these days, so I don't agree WBA got the better end of the deal, he is still a dam good keeper.
£4m is way too much. He is 35, for all we know he could be absolute turd by the end of next season. Keepers tend to just suddenly become terrible at some point in their mid thirties, this seems a complete gamble. Zero resale value. Could be £2m rising to £4m, which would be much more like it
A couple of £m here or there is nothing in the scheme of things. The key is signing the right players who will make an impact. Really doesn't matter if it was £2m or £4m.
Agree if he makes the difference between keeping us up next year or not, I don't think anyone would be quibbling about a couple of million!
At least we can put to bed any stories or hopes that Udinese would give us Meret. Joined Napoli permanently for far more than we will ever spend on a GK. I get logistically and financially it would not have happened and what they have done makes sense. It’s just a shame that there was a brilliant GK with limitless potential in the Pozzo pool at a time when we are looking for a new No.1 and the stars couldn’t align to make it happen.
Agreed. Strangely compared to where we were 6 years ago £4m is now nothing. The real cost will probably be in the wages as opposed to the signing fee.
I think the club are about to announce this as a done deal. From Watford's twitter feed: There seems to be a lot of talk about things coming home at the moment... #watfordfc

I know we normally stick a YouTube video for random foreign signings we've never heard of but here's one just for enjoyment:
