Now the new goalies kit has been revealed this can go ahead. People say if he signs he’ll have to fight for the shirt, but is he roughly the same size as Gomes? Otherwise it’s not going to fit.
So the same people yesterday saying we had dropped out of the race to sign him are now saying we are back in lol. £13 million. Gracia a big fan.
Problem is at least you could look the bloke in the pub in eye and be comfortable he's not really an 11yr old schoolboy from Croatia.
Him and Deulofeu would be an incredible start to our summer business. Both already very good players with potential to improve and do incredibly well here, and also command big fees in the future.
Yes agree. As somebody else was saying here yesterday, so far this summer we seem to be looking at the younger end of the market. Both Rico and GD are only 24 I think but both with so much experience already. Add in the likes of Hughes, Doucoure/Richarlison if both stay and Chalobah and there could be a nice pool of Under 25s with their best years yet to come. Masina is also 24 I think.
That’s all well and good, but it won’t be long before all of them suffer season ending lower leg bruises.
I’m slightly unsure about this without really knowing much about him. If he was that good why has he come in for criticism and why are they selling. Seems a lot for someone with doubts about him. But I’m sure better and more knowledgeable people have down due diligence on him, hopefully.
Sevilla fans like their players when they are playing for the team. When they decide to up and leave as with N'Zonzi they get a lot of stick and disparaging comments about themselves personally and their footballing abilities. Rico is a solid enough keeper and with plenty of time to develop further. Might be a bit pricey for us however if Malteser states that the fee is around £13M.
To be fair, £13m is market price for a player these days, it’s just that GK prices don’t seem to have inflated at the rate of outfield players. Ederson only overtook Buffon’s fee last year and that stood for 15yrs+. The obvious problem is buying him for £13m and he’s good but makes 2-3 mistakes - as a GK, he’ll be remembered for the mistakes rather than 30 good games. And therefore his value would likely stay around £13m or even less. £13m is affordable for us I’d bet but only for a long-term No.1, as it’s hard to raise profit on goalkeepers. If we buy him with that in mind, what then of Dahlberg?
£13 million for a young first choice keeper is not a bad spend, the only issue I have is according to some Spanish reports he is turning down Napoli to follow the money to come to us.
We should definitely sign him. You can’t ever go wrong with Spanish keepers. They rarely, if ever, make bad mistakes. Ahem lol.
Have to agree. There has been some significant inflation regarding keepers over the last couple of windows. 30 million for Pickford was a significant milestone. Rico is not really expensive in today's crazy market. It looks like Wet Spam are now interested in Burnley's Pope in addition to Fabianski. Pope is a GK that impressed me the most last term. I think he might get ahead of the competition for the England No.1 jersey in due course. Because we have not really been in for Fabianski, I think we might stick with Gomes (assuming he is fit enough) and Dahlberg for the coming season but we shall see.
Spainish media claiming this is still moving ahead. Rico wants the move, Sevilla happy to see the player leave, and Gracia wants him. Supposedly we want a loan with option to buy, which Sevilla are happy to do, but they want the move to be permanent at the end of the season for €15mil. Watford supposedly do not want a mandatory purchase option. I can’t imagine this one happening and Foster. Guessing interest is dying down in the player so Sevilla are trying to drum up some more interest.
Probably just the Wobby catching up but we wouldn't really spend precious money on him having bought Foster would we ? They would both expect to be first choice. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ford-target-sergio-rico-set-to-leave-sevilla/
Watford's obvious requirements at the end of last season: at least one striker (preferably 2) and at least one centre back. Watford's recruitement this summer: lots of midfielders and goalkeepers #pozzonetwork
Going to Fulham on loan according to Twitter. Watford have officially become the warm-up act to the PL transfer window. The leg-work has been done...

Loan to Fulham with a view to a move to Watford next summer if he's up to scratch. Cunning move by Gino.
