A knighthood for "King Kenny". What a travesty. He was a great footballer, yes, albeit with an arse the size of a donkey's - but what a whingebag! Always in the refs ear if things weren't going Liverpool's way. I'll remember the way he acted in the 6th Round replay in 86 until the day I die. In the second half, he was constantly in Roger Milford's (OBE anyone?) ear every time we tackled one of their players until the infamous Rush dive. He says he is surprised and embarrassed at his honour - not as surprised as me. He should be embarrassed - he took gamesmanship to a new level. I have a title for him, but it begins with a C.

Ah but its for all his charity work and help he gave to the families after Hillsborough representing Liverpool as a club. Seems more worthy than those who just get for winning a medal or making a good movie or two. TBH Sir Alex Ferguson has had a knighthood for years and well he was well versed in getting in the ear of officials and gamesmanship.
My favourite (non Watford) player as a kid. Decent manager. Nice guy. Can't understand a word he says though.
I agree that it is well deserved. I met him in a restaurant in Liverpool along with John Barnes many years ago and he was a true gentleman.
I remember the game well. The reason a penalty was given was that Milford was a punt. Nothing to do with Dalglish.
I could not give a toss how good he was as a footballer. He ruined it with his lengthy defence of Suarez’s obvious racist behaviour.
I think he just took his socialist instincts too far and then didn't want to back down. You are right though he did lose a lot of face with the defending of a very clearly wrong act.
Never liked him but didn't realise the genuine "good stuff" he has done. This thread has chnaged my view of him and the award sounds wholly justified. It's a real education, just reading this site.
